Yama Japanese Restaurant

I can't believe this place gets any business, the food is the worse!!!! We had sushi there & it wasn't fresh. The only thing I can figure out is that people don't know what good food is.
Wellesley eatery provides suburban diners with fresh, affordable Japanese fare.

In Short
Located on the second floor of a non-descript strip mall, Yama is a Japanese oasis. Bamboo fixtures and imported knick-knacks lend an authentic ambience, as does the lengthy menu that features plenty of traditional fare. The full sushi bar provides a pleasant seating alternative, and offbeat rolls include Gokudo maki (mackerel, ginger, scallion and cucumber) and lobster-asparagus roll. Other menu items include tempura, teriyaki, udon and soba noodles.
our favorite sushi

My 3 teenage children love Yama's. We have tried many sushi places but keep coming back. The sushi is fresh. The size of the pieces is perfect and we'ver never had a bad meal. We rarely order anything else from the menu but we do like their vegetable tempura and they are always accomodating when we ask for it to be heavy on the sweet potato. Their miso soup and salad dressing are the best we've had. Its our family favorite. We have been bringing our children their since they were young and have always found them to be very friendly. My kids used to sit at the sushi bar and watch the process and became known by every sushi chef. They were very nice.
- Pros: food, freshness
- Cons: parking
Great for lunch

Very solid sushi place. Much better deal for lunch than for dinner. Most lunch specials come with soup and salad and make for a pretty good deal. Stick to the sushi here for the most part. Other things are okay, but not especially exceptional. The sushi is fresh, and presented in a straightforward manner. The dressing on the salad is excellent. Green tea in a bag is a bit of a turnoff.
Yama is Yummy

Sushi was top notch, very fresh and wide variety of choices. The Udon Noodle dishes were very tasty and plentiful. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and the great value Service was a bit slow however, this was probably due to the fact that it was a busy Friday night.
- Pros: wide variety, large portions, inexpensive
- Cons: BYOB
