just got back from memphis and thay aint got nothing on this place!! real deal bbq here!!
by jaylaurino
blue ribbon has the best pulled pork i have ever had!! just got back from a memphis bbq quest and did most all of the top places (central bbq, neelys interstate, pig on beal, corkys) and i would take the pulled pork hands down at blue ribbon over any of the memphis joints, and the pork ribs are as good if not better than in memphis! maybe memphis has the edge in sauce and sides but no way in meat!! real bbq is not for everybody, but if you like low and slow smoked pork you have to go to blue ribbon!
- Pros: best pulled pork
Go here! Go here!

Most everything from the service to the taste of the food is quite incredible. The only "negative" thing I have to say about BR is regarding the cornbread. (Sorry... it's consistently a bit dry, guys!) Their sauces are tasty and pretty authentic - especially love the NC vinegar! The best part is that the sauce is a CHOICE...they don't use the sauces to cover up subpar cooking! Thumbs up from this Southerner who LOVES her barbeque! Wow...my mouth is watering now!

May be best BBQ in Boston, but cannot compare to what you can get in the south
by brian_h
Entering Blue Ribbon, our first impression was "it's such a tiny place!" (it seats about 10) The place offers the typical BBQ fairs like ribs, pull pork, chicken, beef brisket. We ordered Half Rib Platter ($14) and Beef Brisket Platter ($10) and each platter comes with a big corn bread and two sides. The Beef Brisket was tender, fatty, and juicy. The BBQ sauce provided on the side at the store was so-so, as it didn't add anything to the flavor of the meat. It was a lot of Beef Brisket. On the hand, the Half Rib was really not a lot of meat. Going in I was hoping for some falling-off-the-bond type of rib meat, but it was just "not tough". In any case, the meat was flavorful and I enjoyed it. It was probably the best BBQ I have had in Boston, but it really cannot compare to what I used to have down in Atlanta.
- Pros: good food
- Cons: hours
finger licking good

Yum, Yum! The BBQ ribs here are out of this world. They were so tasty! The portions are huge and the price is cheap! Very quick service. My waitor was very good! If you're hungry and looking for a quick bite and happen to be in the area you should try it.
- Pros: ribs, service, price/portion
- Cons: none
Possibly the best BBQ in New England
by justingew
I have been coming to Blue Ribbon for a while now. This place in my opinion has the best BBQ in the state and possibly in all of New England. The staff at both locations are very friendly and food arrives fast. Portions are huge. I highly recommend the "meat trio" of ribs, pulled pork and brisket. The sweet tea is also wonderful. The best time to eat is between 1:30-3:30 as it tends to get very crowded around lunch and dinner times. There is limited seating as well. If you love BBQ, you owe it to yourself to try this place, you will not be disappointed.
- Pros: Authenticity, Price, Quality, Taste
- Cons: Parking, Need one in Boston
Amazing BBQ!!
by sushigirl75
I'm definitely not the biggest BBQ fan I know, but I absolutely LOVE Blue Ribbon! Their array of delectable BBQ sauces are the best bar none. It can be kind of a trek getting to Arlington since surface street traffic can be a little on the slow side, but it's SO worth it! Will definitely satisfy ANY BBQ craving you might have!
- Pros: amazing BBQ, consistent quality
- Cons: few tables, not much parking available, so-so location
Great Spot for Cue in Newton
by howudoinsf
Popped in for a plate of Memphis dry rub ribs and pulled pork with mashies, creamed corn/leeks (both excellent) and cornbread on the side. Pulled pork was tangy and tasy, ribs were delicious and covered with some sauce. All the meat was flavorful and came in large portions, nice job! You order at the counter and grab a stool or do takeout. Decor is perfect for cue, lots of little country knick-knacks and you're blasted by delicious smells when you step in. Good assortment of meats and sides, I'd definitely recommend this spot but I'd recommend coming in early...
- Pros: Deelish Side Dishes, Good BBQ Ambiance, Parking Lot nearby
- Cons: Limited Seating
All aboard for a whistle-stop tour of Southern barbecue cuisines, all without leaving Newton.

The Scene
Families and young professionals come from far and wide to dig into heaping pulled pork platters and imposing slabs of ribs, amid a Southern roadside environment (counter service only). Lunch and dinner hours yield vastly different atmospheres: Daytime visitors enjoy a quiet, relaxed environment and rarely have a problem nabbing an open seat, while most nights bring standing-room-only crowds, forcing larger groups to skip the wait for a seat and take their meals to go.
The Food
Order an assortment of the Ribbon's slow-cooked meats to take a culinary tour of Southern barbecue styles--there's flavorful North Carolina pulled pork, moist Texas brisket, meaty Memphis dry-rubbed ribs, and smoky Kansas City burnt ends. Each platter comes with a choice of sides (maple-roasted sweet potatoes and creamy mac and cheese are among the top options). Leave room for a slice of delectable, homemade sweet potato pie for dessert.

The food and the sauces are great. As Shakespeare said of his barbecue, "readiness is all." And this barbecue is cooked appropriately, slowly. The people who run this place are competent and friendly and deserve every possible success. That said, we seldom get food here, anymore, because there is always someone in our group who wants baby back ribs, and Blue Ribbon does not make them. The rating questions are mostly inappropriate; this is mainly take-out.
- Pros: inexpensive
- Cons: , crowded
