antique restoration

Under new management for many years, Rosine Green Associates completed excellent conservation on four of my 19th c. oil paintings. The present owner, Ehiel Rits, is a master restorer who seems to understand the proper methods of handling porcelain as well. He has repaired several of my Chinese Export items with minimal intervention and good taste. In one instance, he had to redo the work of another restorer on a pair of delicate vases.
Perhaps the timliness of the work could be improved, however, I would trust no one else with my antiques. Do
not confuse art restorers with businesses that glue things together quickly.
Poor communication, quality, & service from this restorer.

I took a valuable print on paper to Rosine Green Associates. Their business card stated that they were accredited, had done work (including paper) for numerous museums & public offices. The studio is located in a home & is filthy & quite unkempt. I asked for examples of their prior work & a work was pulled off of an adjacent shelf. They do not take credit cards, so paid cash and was told to be in touch 5 weeks. 6 weeks later I call & there is no message on the answering machine. I check online & sure enough there is a complaint against the business for non-returned good. I finally get in touch with the owner who claimed my piece was drying. Two days later, I get a call and my piece was now complete. I picked it up and it was clear that is had been rushed. The ink had cracked in spots & overall I felt the job was sub par. Furthermore, dust had dried on the surface of the print. I would not recommend taking any works on paper to Rosine Green Associates.
- Pros: Price
- Cons: Poor communication, rushed order, uncleanly "studio"
