So Rude!!!
by angl32598 at Citysearch
Called for info on extensions, receptionist was very short with answering my questions. Called & spoke with the owner & got no where, she was unproffessional and just as bad as the receptionist. The expierience was so bad I didnt even dare to book an appointment, I can imagine how the in salon service would be.
- Cons: Rude staff, Unproffessional Owner
I love Mariam!
by Bliggs at Citysearch
Mariam did my eye brown and bikini waxing as well as all my hair cuts for two years while I lived in Boston, and she did an amazing job! She was quick and gentle with the waxing and always gave me exactly what I wanted for my haircuts. I even had my own hair and my bridesmaids' hair done at Salon Monet for my wedding! I have been living in Tennessee for two years now, and I still come back to Salon Monet every few months when I visit Boston, because nobody does a better job than Mariam! And as for the review about them being rude, I have a feeling it was just a language issue, as none of the women at the salon speak English as a first language. They are certainly all VERY nice and helpful people and would never purposefully offend a client!!!
- Pros: Quality, friendly service for a low price
- Cons: None that make a difference
Great salon at a great price
by backbaygirl at Citysearch
I moved to Brookline and decided to try Salon Monet. I was pleasantly surprised! It may not be the Newbury St. experience, but I actually liked my cut better than some Newbury St. places I've been to. Olga is great. She is very friendly and will sit and talk w/ you about what you are looking for, offer suggestions and provide a great cut. The prices can't be beat as well. I thought due to the economy I'd have to give up my regular haircuts, but for $28, I get a better cut than some places I was paying $80 or more, so I can go regularly. The cut lasts a long time too so I don't end up going as often so I save even more in the long run.
- Pros: Price, knowledge, friendliness
- Cons: None
Mariam: Best Stylist in Brookline (Salon Monet 617-566-9096)

I have been going to Mariam for two years now. She is very meticulous - makes sure of what you want and is willing to offer suggestions if you don't know. Mariam is very respectful, friendly and has a nice sense of humor. She is always right on time - doesn't overbook. Although I am just a regular straight man, not even metro, it has been rare that i've actually enjoyed going for a haircut, but with Mariam, I look forward to going.
She offers a full range of services, including coloring and waxing (which I don't use :) ).

I came in there about a year ago to get my hair colored. It wa black and my ends where dead. Now my hair looks great and I am blond. They know what they are doing and do a good job at it.
Great Hair Cut
by ag5hz at Citysearch
I was just visiting Boston for the week and I needed to find a good place to get a cut. The reviews on this site helped me out, so I figured I would contribute. Olga cut my hair today and she did a great job. She was very friendly, listened to what I had to say and I never felt rushed or anything. Overall, it was a great experience.

I agree- Miriam is the best! She's always friendly and flexible to work around my schedule. She makes sure you like what she did before the service is over. The salon is clean, sunny, the prices are great and everyone is so nice.
- Pros: great customer service, easy location to find
- Cons: none
Excellent Service and Skills at a Low Price
by whiteotter at Citysearch
Salon Monet may be low on bells and whistles, but their service and skill is amazing. I've been going to Marion for almost a year now, and she actually *listens* to what I'm looking for - and then does it! I'm considering moving out of the Brookline area, but I'll keep coming back for her haircuts. The place is simple, friendly and you can't beat the price.
- Pros: Great service, friendly people, a diverse clientele
- Cons: None

I've been getting my hair cut by Nina for over a decade and I always get compliments on my cuts. I show her a few pictures, she looks at my face, asks me how much styling I'm willing to do -- and she ends up giving me an awesome cut. And her cuts always grow out really well -- even if I don't get my hair cut/trimmed for 3 months, my hair still looks good. Sure, it is not an upscale place, but you can't beat the price and the location (I live in Brookline and it just down Beacon St. for me). Even when I moved away, I'd wait to visit Brookline (and Nina) to get a haircut. I just depends on what you are looking for. If you want a reliable cut -- go to Nina. But if you want the whole experience, lots of pampering, etc -- then you are better off paying a pretty penny on Newbury St.
- Pros: dependable, appts available, great value
- Cons: not upscale, don't expect to be pampered

I have been going to Salon Monet for a while and while they seem to be very rushed at times, the service has been absolutely wonderful - I've gotten my hair cut there, been waxed there and I've been extremely happy and recommend this place for anyone.
