On a recent trip to Boston, I treated my two daughters and myself to a spa day at Southwest Day Spa . Since I live in another state, I chose this spa sight unseen from the testimonials. I wanted a place where we could de-stress and not be rushed. Southwest was a good choice. The atmosphere is soothing and the staff is welcoming and friendly. All three of us had hour-long massages, facials, manicures and pedicures, and we left there relaxed and pampered. If you’re looking for a soothing, relaxing experience in a tranquil atmosphere, this is a good place.
Pros: ambience, friendly staff, personal attention
Cons: none

I bought my girlfriend a gift certificate from this spa for her birthday. I am unfamiliar with spa services and the staff at southwest was extremely helpful. They walked me through a number of different services so I had a good understanding of what I was getting for her. The spa looked very clean and very comfortable, I'm sure she is going to love it.
Pros: staff, sevices, atmosphere
Cons: nothing

I came in yesterday for a wax and I have to say that it was the best wax I ever got!!! The location is gorgeous. The girl who performed the wax was so nice (and patient with me!) and did an excellent job. She used two different kinds of wax. She explained that the hard wax was better for sensitive areas, and it was so much better than the regular strip wax that I have had in the past! I would definately give the spa a 5-star rating for aesthetic appeal, great service, and a fab wax!!! By the way, this is the cleanest spa I have ever been to.
Pros: Friendly Professional Service

We had a bad experience at this spa. We had a group scheduled for a wedding where we were each getting either our nails or our nails and toes done. The ladies seemed to rush through the services and the manicures were poorly done. The bride's nails were not done as requested (french manicure was requested and they painted them solid white). When asked to take off the polish and re-do the nails, we were told that she would be charged for a polish change in addition to the nails. They ended up not charging us for this, but the experience was not positive for a bride. The prices were higher than those at the Newbury street spas and the service was not as good. I would not reccomend this location.

I've been going to Southwest Day Spa for over a year. Even though I've moved from Brookline to JP, I still make the commute (by public transportation!) Lavina and the rest of the ladies there are definitely worth it. Everyone is very welcoming, and the atmosphere is very cozy. My first visit was with a friend for her birthday-- the smaller size of the spa was ideal, we were totally pampered and the treatments felt much more personalized. I've received chair massages and a pedicure at Southwest Day Spa, however the main reason I go now is for waxing-- they are amazing-- especially Lavina!
Pros: relaxing ambience, friendly service
Cons: A bit small if you are a medium or larger group (I would say over 3 or 4) and want treatments simultaneously.

I have mixed feelings about Southwest. I loved the manicure and pedicure I got here. They shaped my nails beautifully, and the polish lasted a long time. Also, the service is friendly and I always enjoy myself when I go. However, I went twice for bikini waxing and feel I must caution you: if you want a Brazilian, go here, no question. If you want a more traditional bikini wax (i.e. "martini glass" shape), they don't seem to understand that. I asked for "just a little off the sides" and was left with a landing strip.
Pros: Pleasant service, good manicures/pedicures
Cons: overzealous waxers

I have to tell you - while speaking with my massage therapist, I mentioned that "I only ever really treat myself to this kind of luxury when on vacation". Mia has the best hands in all of Brookline. The massage was one of the best I have ever had. The rooms are quite and peaceful, the staff is exceptional and what I can't get over is how close they are. I have never felt so relaxed. You must ask for Mia and ask her about her "hot towel" treatment. Thanks!
Pros: Great theapist
Cons: Only a little pricy - I have seen similar services for $15 less for the hour.

I have been going to Southwest Day Spa for nearly six years, routinely having Brazilian bikini waxes and manicure/pedicure services. The staff are friendly, professional, and very competent, and the Spa's prices are extremely reasonable! The space was recently remodeled and provides a lovely atmosphere to relax and enjoy your services. I HIGHLY recommend!!!

From all the places I have been for my waxing needs, Southwest Day Spa , is superior in skills, attention to details, friendly staff and a impeccable waxing job with a very well explained post wax care. On my second visit I had a wonderful body massage and the best manicure and a pedicure.Let me tell you folks, be seated on that throne, overlooking Beacon st, with a cup of tea and having someone exfoliating, buffing, washing and massaging my lower legs and feet with the Jasmin scent lotion gave-me other state of relaxation. I"am looking forward to my next visit To Southwest Day Spa to again, experience all the wonderful pampering services they offered to my partner and I.
Pros: ambience, decor,friendly staff.
Cons: none.

Our group(10 people) arrived at Southwestdayspa in a raining, ugly sunday afternoon and , as soon we walked to the front door, we felt very welcomed ... we all got a pair of white soft terry slippers(to warm up our cold , wet feet and to keep the beautifull maple floor clean and dry) and the hot cup of herbal tea served by the fireplace was delicious and nourished our cold bones .Our facials were wonderfull, relaxing and the results fantastic...I never had such a wonderfull hot stone massage as the one I got today, my shoulder injury feels much better and I fell so gratefull for such a blessing(I"ve been in a agonize pain for such a long time) and ours manicures and pedicures were the best..I"ve been to so many nail salon all across the country and never I had such a detailed, relaxing( rush free), amazing service and a very personal nail tech, wich made me fell very pampered and at ease. I did fell like a " QUEEN" sitting on that throne having my feet and legs massaged , overlooking Beacon St and sipping on my second cup of complimentary hot beverage, the price was a bargain for all that work to make my calluses and corns to disappear and, the home care instruction was well explained .Definitely the best spa I"ve been to( able to accomodate all of us w/ the best of all services.). ..Southwestdayspa just got a new, loyal client for life., We will drive to Brookline from Bridgewater ones a month for such a wonderfull experience ..Thank you very much for all the great work done for us.
Pros: Perfect service, ambiance
