Bedbugs - gross!
by razber118 at Citysearch
Two friends and I met in Boston for a conference and stayed at the Beacon Inn 1087. We had minimal problems during out stay, but after we each returned to our respective homes, we all developed itchy bites all over our bodies from bedbugs. I called the inn to let them know, but they said they already knew (and hadn't let us know), and they barely offered an apology. So, I would not recommend the Beacon Inn - if you stay there, you may end up like me and spend your birthday covered in bedbug bites.
- Pros: Free wireless, flatscreen TV
- Cons: Bedbugs!
never stay here

my parents stayed at the Beacon Inn over Thanksgiving weekend. Their room had no heat. Despite complaining about it to the staff three times, the Inn did nothing. The staff was rude and unprofessional. The rooms are very old, and look nothing like the pictures on the internet. This place is a total rip-off. For the same price, you can stay at a more modern and better-managed hotel.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Rude staff, musty cold rooms
HORRIBLE

Avoid this place like the plague...
1. Rooms arent what they look like on the net. They are humid and musty, poorly lit and filthy.
2. Entrance to the room was through the restroom! The restroom itself was disgusting with stains on the toilet...
3. The TV didn't work properly. It would 3 mins to warm up and there were only 3 channels.
4. The room has paper thin walls. So its super noisy and you cant sleep...
5. The floors were sticky and dirty.
6. The beds are awful.
Its grossly overpriced too. These guys hire unprofessional students as staff who know nothing about running a guest house. Overall, this place is a sh**hole...
- Pros: none
- Cons: filthy rooms and restrooms, noisy, overpriced, humid and badly lit
My new fav spot

I travel to Boston frequently and recently found the charming Beacon Inn online. Clean rooms, friendly staff, quiet but convenient location right by the subway. The front desk helped me find directions to my conference which was very helpful. Also found some great restaurants nearby!
- Pros: Location, Staff Nice, Clean, Parking (only a few)
- Cons: No on street parking

A great find!!

We found the Beacon Inn browsing online, and we couldn't have been happier. The location is great, in a quiet neighborhood but the trolley was right on the street to take into dowtown Boston. The rooms are quaint, and the staff very friendly. There's no breakfast, but there were plenty of great places to eat in the square 2 blocks away. We'd definitley stay again!
- Pros: Inexpensive, Quiet, Charming
- Cons: Limited Parking

The room was nice...except for the floor's fire escape alarm being on our room door--if you didn't lock or unlock it correctly it would go off (and it did). At any time some one could have pushed the fire alarm door bar, which would have allowed them access to our room (and to the fire escape). Of course the alarm would go off if the door was opened by another guest, but...who wants that kind of inconvenience--especially when they're charging you to stay in the fire escape room. [If you choose this hotel, make sure you don't get the fire escape room.] And finally, upon arrival we were told that they charged us an additional $44 for the number of people in our room. Fortunately they credited this amount back to our account since we hadn't been informed of it during our phone reservation.
- Pros: very nice room, great location, clean
- Cons: fire alarm on door, fire escape in room, tiny parking spaces
good value for Boston

The staff of the Beacon Inn is friendly and the 1087 location is a pleasant 10 minute walk from Fenway and a little further to the Back Bay. The only complaint we have: the room, while pleasant, was a little strange. It was separated only by double doors from the lobby, permitting quite a bit of sound exchange between the two rooms. We would have preferred a little more privacy. Our room did not face the road and was quite quiet. The price was exceptionally reasonable by comparison. Cute, typical Boston townhouse location. We enjoyed our stay.
- Pros: inexpensive, convenient to T
