I'm new to Boston and stumbled on Best Cellars because the Coolidge Corner store is right at my T-stop. I absolutely love it! I'm there all the time for the free wine tastings. I've found this store much less snotty than a lot of wine stores I've been in. Plus the layout is gorgeous. Every now and then the music is a little loud, but other than that, no complaints--it's really worth a stop. I just wish I'd thought of the idea myself!
Pros: value, friendly service, free wine tastings

It's like wine shopping for dummies. A small selection of wines organized by flavor, like sweet or fruity. Salespeople are wicked helpful and there is always a tasting going on. One drawback is that their stock changes rapidly, so what you bought--and loved--last month may no longer be available. But since they keep track of your purchases in their computer they can make recommendations based on what you've purchased before. Every bottle used to be under $10. Prices have gone up slightly, but they're still inexpensive.
