What a GREAT TIME!!!!

by nightlifeking

This place was a blast. Never before have i been to a bar like this. It was an amazing time. As far as what the other review wrote. The management staff was great. We had an issue with getting a table, but they took care of it for us right away. The only person there with tatoo's was the door guy. The reviewer must have something out for the guy. This place is a great bar. If you want a fun night of enjoyment with your friends, you gotta check this place up. Its truely is amazing.

  • Pros: music, dancing, girls and guys, service, management team,
  • Cons: parking,no food, location

Jake Ivorys & Dave Weissman

by AlexB33

I had such a great time at Jake Ivorys this weekend, and heard this guy Dave Weissman who is one of the piano players there. He was amazing. A whole bunch of us came out in the unbelievable snow storm for my friend's birthday, and he played every song we requested! There was also another piano player sitting across from him named Craig who played "I'll be there" by the Jackson 5, and brought 5 guys up to the stage to sing to our friend sitting on the piano. Needless to say, we had a great time!

From what I heard, it was a slow night at Jake Ivory's- and I'm not surprised considering the weather, but there were still a LOT of people there. Despite the "smaller" crowd, David and Craig didn't relax at all! They kept everyone going and played non-stop all night! The song styles could switch at any moment! They played rap, rock, pop, blues,.. they'll play ANYTHING you ask for. They'll yell out your name and let everyone know you requested the song- and sometimes bring you, or whoever, up onto the stage to dance and shake a tambourine!

Jake Ivorys was a great time! I give it 5 stars, and I'll definitely be back soon! Bravo, Craig and Dave Weissman !

  • Pros: Dave Weissman, Great Music, 3 Bars, Strong Drinks, Good Service, High Energy
  • Cons: Usually a lot of people, No Food, Hard to Park

Owner / Workers are shady

by rfgoo

only go here if you want your personal belongings stolen by the people that work there. if you let your jacket, sweatshit, etc out of your sight for a minute the people who work there grab it up. at the end of the night they supposely put them in a pile by the door on the way out like its some elementary school lost and found. its like a clothes free for all. they do it on purpose so people will use their coat check. only problem is it keeps people from back in general. a good time at this bar is ruined by shady management. them manager is some short little guy with tatoos who mouths off to patrons while hiding behind his body guards. its no wonder there are atleast 2 cops staioned outside this bar every night.

  • Pros: should be a fun time dancing and drinking
  • Cons: shady staff / management

A different kind of nightclub experience

by jenheidir

Nestled in between hot dance clubs Tequila Rain and the Axis on Lansdowne Street, Jake Ivory?s brings back classic entertainment from days gone by with its dueling pianos churning out the tunes all night long. But don?t expect any ragtime music! These talented pianists who double as the singers perform pop to hip-hop, from Sir Mix-A-Lot?s ?Baby Got Back? to Boston classics like Neil Diamond?s ?Sweet Caroline.? And despite the lack of DJ, there?s arguably just as much dancing going on at this club as any of the others on Lansdowne. Only real downsides: occasional long lines at the bar and lack of places to sit down once you get tired from dancing.

  • Pros: music, dancing
  • Cons: lack of places to sit down, crowded

The place is rockin'!

by b55

My wife and I were there on a Friday night and the place was packed. Great crowd with a good vibe...a bunch of bachelorette parties (all partying to the max)...good service, but the best part was the music. The dueling piano show was not only different from anything I've seen around the city, but a tremendous crowd pleaser. The whole club was roaring, with folks singing along to an amazing variety of tunes. I don't know how they pulled all of them off with just piano and drums, but it worked and everyone loved it. The entertainers really knew their stuff, you couldn't stump them, and they played tunes from every era and genre imaginable. There was a team of player/singers including a cute blond with a great voice and a ton of energy who really added to the show. She got the crowd involved from the beginning and they kept it going all night . I would definitely check this out as an alternative to the usual clubs that seem to be all attitude and no fun.

  • Pros: Great dueling piano show

If you are a dud, you won't like it, but

by pianolover

"All squares go home!" If you want to hear virtually any song you desire, just send up your request, with a little inducement, and get up and dance to the music. If the crowd doesn't like it, your selection may be "outbid" by a more generous patron. Its raucous fun, and the whole drunken joint is jumpin' to the beat of Rock N' Roll piano. Its true. If you don't have a good time, it's your own damn fault! Jake isn't a cheap date, but he is worth it. See rising star, Jarret Izzo, and tell your grandchildren you saw him perform in an intimate club, before he was famous. "Man, what are you doing here?" Musicologist Craig McMahan is amazing. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.

  • Pros: Highly entertaining "Human Jukeboxes" know how to rock a crowd.
  • Cons: Can get crowded. Not for cheapskates.

This place is nuts!

by mscott25

I went to Jake Ivory's on Lansdowne for St. Patty's Day, didnt want to go but my friends dragged me along saying how good of a time it is, and there would be girls everywhere. The show started off pretty good, i was more impressed with the $2 miller highlife beers personaly. But then a group of 20 girls came in and sat down right next to us for some bachalorette party, me and my buddies where in heaven. The show picked up when they played sweet home alabama and the place errupted, before i knew it ,it was like 130am and half the staff was up on stage singing save a horse ride a cowboy! Started talking to this guy at the bar who turned out to be one of the managers and he hooked me and my buddies up with free passes at the end of the night. Going back this friday for some college party!

  • Pros: Managers are cool, good priced drinks, the show
  • Cons: smoking section
