User Reviews for Sorento's Italian Gourmet

Dinner with friends. Fab location. Easy parking cuz no Sox game. Friendly staff. Food was top notch. Highly recommend Chicken Marsala. So different from usual dish. Sun-dried tomatoes and artichokes makes the sauce YUMMY! Generous portions. Highly recommend calamari apptz. Sauce was great. Only con was the overall temperature in the restaurant. Kinda hot with the sun beating in thru the windows. But the staff was quick in refilling the ice water! Small cozy restaurant. Expect to be sitting close to your neighboring diners.

Pros: food and service

Cons: warm in the restaurant

Great pizza and fantastic wine. I wish the owner recise the schedule posted because it says they serve until 12:00 am (midnight?).... so not true!!! If you ever call five minuets after eleven... good luck because they don;t even want to pickup the phone. In the remote probability they do pickup the phone, they will tell you IT IS CLOSED. Other than that, the food is very decent, good rpiced and the wines are good.

Pros: Great Pizza

Cons: Questionable service, they close before the posted schedule.

This is the best restaurant you've never heard of. It's a cozy place behind Fenway with an impressive menu and ultra-affordable prices. I'd recommend a dish, but honestly, everything I've had so far is fantastic and worth ordering repeatedly. It's very casual, but not in a way that should stop you from making it a date spot. Comfortable patio. A really great place for dinner before (or after on weekends, as it stays open until 12:00) a Sox game, as it doesn't get nearly as crowded as other area bars/restaurants.

Pros: Quality, value

Cons: Nonexistent parking on game days, beer and wine only

Stopped in for a quick meal before a movie...nice comfortable, good people. Good bread. Pasta dishes were pretty good, a little dry in the fettucine cream dept., good soup. Nice waitress. Pleasant overall, will be back.

What a great little restaurant! The food was amazing! I had the Shiitake Mushroom Ravioli and it was out of this world! My date had the lasagna. You would think, why have just lasagna when you are out at a good restaurant? This is not your Mom's lasagna: Butternut squash, mushroom, sun-dried tomatoes, basil and pine nuts in three layers of pasta topped with mozzarella cheese. It was outstanding. The service was great considering it was Valentines Day. We were sat right away and they were every helpful even though they were being slammed. FYI: It's beer and wine only.

Pros: Food, Service

You do not need to go to the North-End to have good Italian food !!! The pasta dishes were prepared to perfection with an excellent cream sauce. I like their use of sun dried tomatos in their cream sauce. The portions are just right.

Pros: Romantic, Price, Portions

I was shocked that I hadn't heard of this place before. A friend recommended it to me and I can't tell you happy I was with this restaurant. The food was excellent and with the service to match. You can't go wrong, be it a date or a casual night out it seems to fit any occasion.

Pros: Inexpensive, Great Crowd, excellent food

The food is just amazing! All the food is fantastic. But no matter what you have to try the pizza. It is out of this world. The crust should say "Made in Italy!"

I experinced Sorento's for a late B-day dinner with a few friends. It was the first time visiting, and we all walk out very pleased. The food was prepared with fresh ingredinets, the service was fine, the atmosphere was delightful, and the manger was professional and pleasant. Be sure to make reservations; it's a small dinning area and gets busy quickly.

Pros: price, quality

Cons: parking during games

Satisfying favorites and a touch of decorative class score a hit among the bullpen of Italian joints surrounding Fenway Park.  See the full editorial review.

Insider Tips

Save Time

Keep an eye on the baseball schedule; when there's a game down the street, the whole area becomes a mess and parking is nearly impossible to find. Stay home and take advantage of the restaurant's free, limited-area delivery.
