Rude parking lot attendant
5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

We attended the May 20, 2008 game at Fenway. We always park in the lot closest to the park (at the end of Yawkey Way), and have never had a problem. However, this time the parking lot attendant waved us in, yet wouldn't take our cash (even though we had our arm out the window with cash in hand as we pulled in), and all he said was "you need a permit" but he waved us in. He then turned his back to us and approached the driver of the car behind us, and we had nowhere to go, but straight ahead into the lot. After parking, we approached him to try to pay him again, but he now said (for the first time), you have to move your car or you'll be towed. I was with a 5-year old who wears orthopedic braces and has difficulty walking and asked him where else we might park, and he ignored us several times, then started shouting "I'm busy, I'm busy, can' you see I'm busy - I have work to do". He appeared to be very stressed out and irritated and treated many patrons rudely. We tried to talk to him several times, but he kept ignoring us (all the while continuing to yell at other patrons who were trying to park). He eventrually extened his hand and said "Just pay me $30 and then move your car to another spot), which we did, but his attitude was way out of line. Don't know if he is a subcontractor who works at the lot or if he is affiliated with the Sox of Fenway in any way, but this man should definitely NOT be the first contact that fans have when they arrive at friendly Fenway. A Fenway or Sox administrator should casually hang around that area prior to the next game, and they will assuredly witness firsthand what I'm talking about and witness his extremely rude behavior.

Pros: great park; great fans

Cons: extremely rude parking attendant

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

A child is never too young for his or her first game, but be sure to make it a day game, and try to get seats in the alcohol-free grandstand sections (32 and 33).
