Please don't waste your time or money

This place was recommended by a local, and I can't figure out why. What has changed since it used to be 'amazing'? It is now dull, bland, overpriced food. The 'fried scrod' was gross- VERY fishy, and just plain generic. The coleslaw was bland and boring. The tarter sauce was a very strange green color, and not appealing at all. We left hungry, and not feeling well. Money poorly spent, that is for sure. The waiter, while attentive in the beginning totally forgot us and never checked back. He was sitting while we were eating, as were about 5-7 other wait staff. We didn't know his name, and couldn't get his attention so we started calling every male name we could think of to get his attention. After a while another waitress picked up on what we were doing and announced his name. He then brought us a very overpiced bill, and we left.
Unappealing, bland, not very fresh food. Not worth the drive, or the money. We could have done better at a fast food fish restaurant.
- Pros: Interesting atmosphere
- Cons: Everything else
Surprised at the negative reviews

I have always loved the chowder, salmon and scallops at this place. I special order everything from wine to the combination plates. I hope the owner is still their and Emerald Lagasee is a big fan as he was there when I last visited. Perhaps the waitstaff needs a swift kick and the owner needs to read some of the prior reviews
You're Nuts.

Some friends and I went there for lunch and it was great. The staff was friendly, the food was perfectly done and there was plently of it. I didn't have any issues that some of these other posts have mentioned. In fact, just the opposite.
This is not a fancy place - It's on Boston's fishing pier. I say it is a diamond in the rough.
- Pros: Great fresh seafood
Food ok, service horrible

We just had lunch on a rainy Saturday while waiting for our bus to the cape. We were directed to the upstairs dining room. There were about 6-8 waiters standing around but it was about 5 minutes before any of them decided to wait on us. One of us ordered the fried shrimp and one ordered the hamburger (not a seafood fan). Food was ready fairly quickly although after he brought the burger he took his time going back to get the shrimp as it sat on the counter near the kitchen. Once the food was served he was too busy talking to other waiters to pay attention. I had to get up from the table and walk over to him to request a drink refill. The burger and fries were good. The shrimp was very fresh and the portion generous. The coleslaw ws tasteless, however. But in the end we both had more than we could finish. Left a $3 tip on a $30 bill - I rarely tip so miserly but the staff there obviously is not motivated to make money.
total disaster

We used to go there a lot. However, last time we were there (a week ago), we found that it was no longer the place that we LOVED.
The chowder we ordered has no taste. The lobster is no good either. Even the waiters became cold. The only thing that didn't change taste is the ketchup... We guess that the owner changed, so the chef and the waiters all changed.
How we missed the old restaurant!

No name for a reason

The overall experience was... HORRIBLE. We sit down wait about 5-10 mins for our waitress.. what does she do? She throws the menus at the table and walks away (I'd like to point out that there were about 5-7 waiters sitting down or standing DOING NOTHING and the place was NOT busy), my husband gets up to go to the bathroom after we decide what we wanted and the waitress comes back and says.... "WHAT DO YOU WANT!?" I order ONE chowder soup, crab salad, seafood platter. We get 2 chowder soups, crab salad, and seafood platter. The soup was nothing special AT ALL, the salad did not look fresh and the crab was not that great either. The seafood platter was overly priced (like everything else) for what you got, the fish did not taste fresh, and did not have any taste to it. The only reason why we didn't walk away when she threw the menus was b/c we were starving and did not want to drive and look for another place. We only gave her a $2 tip on a $40 dollar bill b/c at the end she smiled and said our daughter was cute, other than that she would of gotten NOTHING. Please don't waste your time or money. BTW a local recommended this place.. Idk why. He said this was the best place to eat fresh seafood at a great price and you can't go wrong with seafood anywhere in Boston... yea RIGHT!

I normally don't write reviews, but this experience must be documented. In a city with so much great seafood, I don't know how this place stays in business. Food was bland, service was poor. The entire experience was dissappointing.
Easily the worst meal I've ever had
by jadams207
I had to give it a star or it woudln't post. Not deserving of 1/4 of a star. THis used to be THE PLACE to go. However...a recent visit will be the last. "seafood plate" - fried rubbery tiny tiny shrimp, scallops the size of a pencil eraser, 2 tiny pieces of scrod, 2 clams, 2 oysters. bland, chewey, horrid. Just the worst meal I"ve ever had in a restaurant and I've been around the world.
the check out person grabbed the money, pushed the change to me and never even said thank you - too busy on her phone.

We ordered a relatively basic pizza, and they said it would be 30, maybe 40 minutes. When 45 minutes had passed by, we called to ask what happened. They said the delivery man had just left and should be there any second. Suddenly, we noticed there was a car in front of the house. The delivery man had simply been parked in front of the house, wondering if he was at the right address rather than checking the number. The pizza was $13.91, and the delivery man didn't have anything smaller than a ten. And when we finally opened the cold pizza, it wasn't even what we had ordered, and it was greasy, falling apart (because the bread was soggy), and it tasted bad.
- Cons: bad delivery, bad pizza
