Amazing staff and top notch skin care
by Dotty27 at Citysearch
I have been going to see Allison for facials for almost a year now and my skin has improved beyond my wildest dreams! Every facial is relaxing and super enjoyable and I would recommend her to anyone. Just to give some background... I only had a facial one other time before coming to see her and it was at a fancy resort in the Bahamas; Allison's work is so much better than what I experienced on vacation that I just can't imagine wasting time seeing anyone else. She is incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to answer your questions.
The rest of the staff is amazing too - every time I go there, I am greeted by a caring friendly staff. Everyone smiles and is genuinely happy to see you there. Aside from all of that, what I love about Interludes is that there is no ego like in other spas, each experience is completely relaxing and fun. I always feel like I have to show off at other spas (not that I go to them anymore,) but Interludes is just not like that. Not to mention that the prices are an absolute bargain for the extremely high quality services and personal attention that you get.
This place actually isn't too far from the T if you live in town, you could take a short cab ride from Oak Grove or Malden Center (on the orange line) to get there. I would say it is well worth the trip!
- Pros: knowledgeable, friendly staff; great prices; amazing services
- Cons: a little bit of a trip from the T if you live in town and are without wheeels
SMASHING!!

Got the best facial, wax and pedicure EVER!
Morroccan theme room in the pedicure area!!!! Lights change color in the foot chair bath. Nice back massage in the chair.
Wax room is small but comforting, with lots of "sayings" and fun things to occupy
the mind as they "rip" Clean and sanitary.
Looks like you are in a living room, very cozy. Hand painted furniture, recliners, I loved the ambiance.
There is one facial girl there and she sent me to heaven and back. Not pushy like the other reviewer said.
In fact she told me to continue my current regime and gave me a mask sample which was wonderful! Going back for sure. There is parking in the long driveway, but I parked on the street.
- Pros: Great Service & ON TIME!!-doesn't get much better than this. Experienced people.
- Cons: none
Best waxing around
by cittygrrl at Citysearch
I have been waxing for years. So when I recently moved to the area I looked all around for a good waxing technician. I had a tough time - tried a few places on Newbury street, etc. but was never really happy - until I found Interlude. My first time there Michelle (the owner and Waxing Queen) took the time to go over my previous experience with waxing, explained the products she uses (hard wax, no strips, it's the best!), and what to expect from the whole experience. I saw that a previous comment stated the waxing room was small - but really how much room do you really need to get waxed?? The business is located in a converted house so it is very cozy, you feel like your at a friend's house. And the staff certainly makes you feel that way as well.
- Pros: Highly skilled, "maintenace plan" pricing for waxing, GREAT customer service
- Cons: parking can be a pain
Lots of Personal Attention
by sugargal at Citysearch
I'm not one to spend a whole lot of money on my hair so I usually go to Dellaria salons and the hair cuts are decent but I feel like I'm a number. At Interlude the people were really nice, and the hairstylist really tried to find the right look for me and to be honest she did an awesome job. She was also really friendly and the whole experience felt comfortable, which for me isn't always the case when I go to a hairdresser. This is the first time someone's done my hair and it looks styled not just shorter so I have to say I'm a fan. I live in Malden, so its just nice to know there's a place where they do good hair that I can walk to instead of heading to the city and it actually cost about the same or less depending on the place you go. Highly Recommended!
- Pros: service, skill, friendly
Best waxing, great hair styles
by newenduser at Citysearch
The reasons to go to Interlude:
1. Waxing: best Brazilians in town: fast, clean and relatively painless. They don't reuse the wax, which is great (some places on Newbury Street do, so make sure you ask). Eyebrow shaping is awesome, they really take the time to understand how your hair grows, it's not "one fits all" attitude. Michelle (the owner) is pretty much a wax queen: if you have hair and don't want it, she'll take care of it.
2. Haircuts: affordable and stylish, color is also good and reliable. Make sure to explain what you want clearly (better yet, bring a picture you like). If the style doesn't work for you, they will tell you. They are more interested in keeping happy clients than making a quick buck and upsetting people.
Things I don't like:
Facials: I'm not so crazy about the aestheticians. I tried them both and felt like they were more interested in selling me stuff than explaining what's going on with my skin. Oone of them even said that anything you buy over the counter is "junk". I don't go for that kind of tactic, it was uncomfortable and I couldn't wait to get it done and over with. The actual facial's results were fine, I just didn't like the sales tactic.
Decor: a little chintzy. This is not an ultra-modern salon, like you'll find on Newbury Street. The style is a little too faux French Country. If you can look past that, the people are great and the services are reliable and very affordable.
- Pros: Great staff, affordable, good hours, street parking
- Cons: Malden, not that easy to get to if you don't have a car
Great Place to get your hair done!
by ebottje at Citysearch
This place was great. So much individual attention! The stylist did exactly what I wanted and really spent the time with me. Plus, the prices are reasonable! I got highlights and a cut for under $100 and bought conditioner too. There is one stylist there so I don't need to tell you her name, just make an appointment!
- Pros: Personal attention, small but charming atmosphere, great service.
- Cons: Must Park on Street and only one stylist so make your appointment in advance.
Best Brow Shaping Ever!
by giuli at Citysearch
My brows are tough, the tech spent 15 minutes discussing my needs and shaping my unruly brows. They came out PERFECT!
I was referred there for a brazilian bikini (maybe next time) The place is cozy and clean. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I am definately going back, I really felt at home and comfortable there.
- Pros: welcoming
- Cons: small wax room
