I always have fun here. Not only is the Irish music good, but the bar also has 80s/90s bands. A perfect place to bring friends and spend the night out. The bartenders are *decent* for such a busy place, but once you make yourself a regular, drinks are easy to come by. What I like most about the Burren is the layout. There is ample room to sit, dance, talk, etc
Pros: good crowd, lotta young professionals
Cons: parking

I love this place. It definitely is as authentic as you can get for an Irish pub. A lot of the bartenders and bouncers are actually from Ireland, and I don't think I can remember a time I've been there when I haven't heard at least one Irish accent among the people in front of the bar as well. I recently found out that the owners actually live in Ireland, so I suppose that's part of the reason why it's so legit. The live music in the front is consistently good, and the beer selection is great. The atmosphere is really warm and cozy, and at Christmas time they put up a lot of decorations and lights, which makes it feel like a movie set or something. The food is also pretty good, a little more on the average side and they have a relatively small menu, but it's cheapish. The only downside--and I suppose you get this at any bar--is that they won't let you sit at the tables until 9:00 if you're not getting dinner. Normally that wouldn't be that big of a deal, but since it feels more like a pub in there than a restaurant, it's a little annoying. Otherwise, though, it's great. One thing to note if you're a veggie-burger lover: they fry their veggie burgers, and they're not quite like any other one I've had. They're good, just different. It can just be a little unexpected the first time.
Pros: Cozy atmosphere, authentic Irish pub, good beer selection, good music
Cons: Can't sit at the tables until 9:00, cover charge even if you don't plan on seeing the band in the back room

No better Irish bar outside of Boston Propper---at least not that i've found! Lot's of live music, Irish and otherwise, and on Tuesday nights (i think) they even have Irish Step-dancing lessons in the back. Great pints, great accents. It's Boston, it's Ireland, and it's right there in Davis Square!!
Pros: People, Music, Atmosphere
Cons: Parking. Same as any other place in Davis.

If you're looking for Live Irish music then you gotta check out the Burren. I never like paying a cover in Davis sq. with The Joshua Tree, Redbones and Orleans nearby, but the Burren has a one of a kind atmosphere. There are two rooms. The first is a kind of gathering area with a good bar. The second is where the music is at with room for dancing or whatever it is a bunch of grads and undergrads do to Irish music. This place is jumping every St. Patrick's Day morning.

One of the constants in Boston for me over the past 5 years is guaranteed great time at the Burren on Thursday night's. Not for the Irish music being played in the front room or the thickly-accented and friendly bartenders, but the 80's cover band the Swinging Johnsons playing in the back room It is always packed, espeically when the Tuft's students are in session, but it is worth it. I want the Swinging Johnson's to play at my wedding. They are that good.
Pros: Thursday night constant in my life.
Cons: I don't live any where close to Davis Square.

Great pint of Guinness! Spent the last 3 St. Paddy Days at the Burren and will be back for more. Great Irish music in the front room. Can get a bit crowded.
Pros: Belly up and order a pint; close to the T; plenty to eat and drink in the area
Cons: Usually over-crowded

The food is fantastic! Whether you get a burger or baked fish, they do everything just right, and the service is great! All those Irish lilts... so adorable! And for the money they give you a lot of what you're
Pros: Great Food/Drinks, Good Value for Money, Good Service
Cons: Crowded, No Parking, Limited Music Acts

I recently stopped in at The Burren and found it to be a very comfortable place to get dinner and drinks. The fish and chips was good and the place had a good selection of beers on tap. I was pleased with the service and will definitely go back.
Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Selection of beers
Cons: Limited menu

I can't think of a single place I'd rather drink a Guinness. Friendly staff, exceptional music, esp. Thursday nights. In my opinion the food is underrated. Healthy mix of nearby college crowd and older folks looking for great atmosphere. Always festively decorated - you never have to wait long to place your order. Top notch in my opinion.
Pros: Great atmosphere, Friendly staff, Outstanding music
Cons: No bathroom mirrors, Crowded, Not cheap

TheBurren is simply the best Irish bar in the New England.......I can say this because I have been to most of them. It is one step from being back in Ireland....Food, Atmosphere. Beer, it doesn't get any better!!!
