What users are saying:
great food, service is a tad shaky
by elizabeth199 at Citysearch
We go here all the time. It is one of our favorites. We like the food and there is something to please everyone. Beer selection excellent. The only challenge of the place is that there are a few rather incompetent servers and when they do make a mistake or, for instance, like when our food took 45 minutes to come out, they are not understanding or apologetic. We eat here a lot and once had HORRIBLE service and food that took FOREVER and assumed because we are regular, good customers that if we spoke to the manger he would, at least, be apologetic. He wasn't. He wasn't even nice, no offer of a $5 gift certificate, free drink... nothing. It was like we were bothering him and it was our problem. That said, the food is good enough and service is generally good enough to make it worth being regulars. Good for vegetarians, but plenty for meat eaters too.
- Pros: food
- Cons: responsiveness to mistakes, sometimes shaky service
With its fireplace and varied menu, Porter Square's top spot for affordable pub grub attracts plenty of young professionals.

The Scene
While Christopher's exposed brick walls and crackling fireplace provide a most welcoming environment, it's the restaurant's lengthy menu of inexpensive comfort food that makes regulars out of area students and young professionals. When not glued to the bar's numerous TVs, libation lovers select from one of Cambridge's most impressive drink menus (try the sinful chocolate cake martini). Friendly servers are well-versed when it comes to describing each of the 20-plus beers on tap.
The Food
The kitchen shows great dexterity in churning out any number of cuisine types--cheesy enchiladas share table space with plates of piquant Thai curry stir-fry and homemade butternut squash ravioli. Health-conscious diners are especially well taken care of, considering that burgers are made with 100% naturally raised beef and ever-popular buffalo wings come from free-range chickens. Adventurous types looking for more than a sandwich wisely gravitate towards the grilled salmon filet with sweet-and-sour mango-chile salsa.
Great Pub
by pubsquatch at Citysearch
A great pub atmosphere is defined by a wide selection of beers, good comfort food (burgers are awesome here), a jovial crowd, and talkative interested bartenders and servers. Christopher?s has it all! I have been going here for years and have never had a bad experience.
- Pros: Burgers, Beer Selection, Service, Location
- Cons: second floor is obviously overflow seating. rare that I have had to sit upstairs though
Burgers to Die For!
by kseaman at Citysearch
Christopher's has the best burgers around!! The toppings are incredibly fresh (even the avocado which is hard to get this time of year) and the flavor of the burger doesn't seem to be masked by the grill. The atmosphere downstairs is much better than upstairs given the bar and sophisticated fireplace seating. 1/2 of the tables upstairs overlook Mass Ave and Porter Square giving people something to look at, but there seemed to be a draft upstairs that I couldn't help notice. Regardless, a place I'll visit over and over again!
Awsome food

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Cambridge. I am a strict vegetarian so it?s hard for me to go out to eat, but Christopher's is one of the best places for me. Christopher?s is my favorite place to bring non-vegetarians because there?s plenty of options or both carnivores and herbivores. The home made veggie burger is by far the best I have ever had. My other favorite is the buffalo tofu, which is very unique. Also all the cheese is made with non-animal based rennet so I can get the nachos witch are also great (esp. the yuppie nachos). Overall between the great service, food and beer selection, I would recommend Christopher?s to anyone.
- Pros: Great vegetarian food and beer
- Cons: hard to find parking
GREAT SERVICE-SPECIALTY BEERS
by ceejaroo at Citysearch
I have been enjoying Christopher's Restaurant for the past 5 years. My girlfriend and I swear by this fantastic restaurant. The service is second to none and the prices more than reasonable. The Tex-mex and daily specials are always a favorite. The draft beer selection is incredible. The bartenders knowledge of the changing beer is very educational and appreciated. I would rate Christopher's A 10 but have to take a point away for the sometimes hard-to-get parking. They just started running a BLACK BEAN BURGER which is great for my girlfriend, a die-hard vegetarian. If you get the chance please try this Porter Square HIDDEN-JEWEL.
- Pros: beer list, brunch, service, specials, homemade veggie burger
- Cons: parking
Watch your drink

I used to go to Christopher's on a regular basis because of its extensive beer selection and decent bar menu. I went to brunch a couple months ago and had a pretty unappetizing experience. We had 2 glasses of water with food objects floating in them, dirty silverware, and our eggs tasted like lighter fluid. I was really disappointed and when we complained we didn't even receive an apology, so we haven't gone since. It is unfortunate because I really enjoyed having a decent place to go so close to home.
- Pros: Close to our home, reasonable pricing
- Cons: No parking, bad food experience
My favorite north of the Charles.

Hands down my favorite resturaunt for day-to-day dining.
Great food, quality beer list, good service and a wonderful atmosphere.
- Pros: Food quality, menu variety, vegetarian options
Good pub eats.

The beef fajitas were decent. The onions weren't very cooked (crispy) and the beef was barely warm. Overall the taste wasn't too bad, but not what I was craving.
The chicken picatta was very good. Tasty and tender chicken.
The boneless buffalo wings were quite good. Again tender and juicy chicken. But the blue cheese was very watery and bland. The buffalo sauce was quite good and just the right amount of spice.
The service was good and the atmosphere was cozy. We had a very enjoyable time. There really aren't many other places with good/decent buffalo wings in the area.
- Pros: Atmosphere
Veggie Tex-Mex-esque Restaurant/Bar

Warm and inviting in the winter, Christopher's food fails to deliver what its atmosphere and drink list imply. The burrito is unoffensive, but stay clear of the patently nauseating Pad Thai.
