Named "top nerd bar" by Popular Science
by hardinghouseinncambrdge
Located between Central Square and MIT, this local favorite was named Top Nerd Bar by Popular Science. Graced by MIT students & faculty, locals, and engineers from Tech Sqaure, Miracle of Science truly lives up to its name. The chalkboard wall menu resembles the periodic table (Qc is the chicken quesadilla); the condiments are in test tubes; and the tables are slate chemistry lab counters. Favorite dishes include the delicious Roni Burger, cooked with Jalapeno peppers and topped with pepper jack cheese; and the turkey chipotle chili with ground turkey, tomatillos, onions and garlic. For sides, order the wonderful roasted red potatoes and tomato chutney - an innovative alternative to French fries and ketchup. Beer options consist of 20 bottles and six taps featuring Tremont Ale, Brooklyn, and Guinness. They also have a great brunch, try the Brazilian grilled steak and eggs. The music ?controlled by the bartender ? can vary from house to rock to hip hop or Al Green; and at night, the eatery becomes a club. For a unique bar/restaurant with a taste of Cambridge?s tech flavor, take a visit to Miracle of Science. Hey, you might even learn something while you?re there.
Worst experience of customer service in my life
by 25inboston
Yesterday with my roommate I had a few drinks at Miracle of Science. We had to wait 20 minutes for a glass of wine and a beer that was sitting at the counter that was 8 ft away. The waitress didn't deliver them so he finally took them himself and she gave him a bad look. I was very annoyed, for being rude to him, at so I said wow great customer service. Minutes later, she was complaining to the guy bartender and pointing and looking at us (rude) and she put both of our drinks on his tab without asking us (he had two beers before I arrived, so we did not arrive as a party as they claimed we did). I asked for change to pay my roommate back in cash and the bartender said roughly:
In this bar you need to be not rude and polite otherwise we don't want you here. There is no more discussion about this.
Thus, I STRONGLY recommend you not to support this bar. I usually really like local bars and support them, but I never had such rude customer service in my life. Even in France, where people complain about customer service, I never had anything like this.
- Pros: Close to MIT
- Cons: Very rude customer service
Fun, unique place...

This has been one of my favorite bars in the country for almost a decade. I don't even know if it was called Miracle of Science the first time I went here--at the time, the place was completely unmarked outside. My family was in the Boston area on vacation, and we ended up eating here for three days straight. In fact, my wife and mother found the place. Good food, inexpensive, simple unfussy decore. Have come back every time I've been in Boston, and it is always worth the trip. Expect to drop by Tuesday and Wednesday this week!
Great burgers and beer
by kentuk
The Miracle of Science is a great local Cambridge bar and grill that has a loyal following. During the week and weekend lunch time is very busy and you often can't find a seat after 12. The beer selection is average, with enough choices that you'll find something you like. The burgers are exceptional (try the one with jalepenos infused into it) as is the chicken quesadilla. My only complaint on the food is that I like their salsa so much that I always finish it before I finish my chips.
- Pros: Food
- Cons: Parking, Seating
Sub-par
by gotbidnezz
Went here for brunch/lunch with some friends. I had a breakfast sandwich, which was just okay. The service wasn't very attentive, despite how slow it was in there; in fact, she basically ignored us. The menu idea was clever, but it's very limited, and hard to decipher. I don't see what all the fuss is about.
- Pros: Portions aren't out of control
- Cons: Food is only okay, service is bad
With its scientific theme and appetizing bar food, this stylish bar and eatery is where geek meets chic.

In Short
A minimalist, geometric decor is host to the photo of patron saint Albert Einstein as well as the chipboards and machinery that crown the bar. MIT grads socialize with professors and engineers from neighboring high-tech companies over quietly sophisticated, nicely priced fare. Sides include sweetly soured pickled red onion and an ambitious if cilantro-deficient black bean and corn salad. The roasted red potatoes and tomato chutney are an inventive alternative to fries and ketchup.
Good Hamburger
by trackfiend137
For about $11 (with tips), I got a hamburger and a coke. The coke was the flattest thing I have ever had. The hamburger was good, they put some special seasoning on it that is distinct from other burgers. The place is a little small, though, and it could get pretty loud.
- Pros: burgers
- Cons: , crowded, short menu
The Miracle of Cambridge
by sgerry
I was a long time fan of Audobon which prompted me to go to this place once I moved over the river into Cambridge. I was so excited. The food is wonderful and the price is right. And better yet, the staff is so friendly, articulate, and down-to-earth, particularly the bartenders. The burgers and skewers are outstanding, and they have a full bar. I love the ambience, warm and comforting, and the decor - especially the cleverly executed Periodic Table of Food!
- Pros: great food, inexpensive, great service
- Cons: sometimes crowded
