Used to be great, now, just dissapointing
by havervb
I've been to Midwest Grill on several occasions (and numerous churrascarias throughout the US and in Brazil). At Midwest grill, it seems that the quality of meat keep getting worse and the attitude of management and owner is even poorer. The meat had a fair amount of fat and gristle. The salad bar had noticeably fewer options than on previous visits. On my most recent trip my party was charged for refills of ice tea and soda. When the refills were ordered there was no mention from the server that there would be any charge for the additional beverages. They pull the same trick on dessert as well. Upon getting the bill and seeing the extra charges, the waitress attempted to assist by asking the manager who then offered to take one round of refills off the bill. However, the owner then came by an insisted that ALL restaurants charge for ice tea and soda refills and that the charges must stay on the bill.
The sirloin and pork loin were excellent. The chicken was dry. We had to ask five times to get garlic bread.
For future ventures for mass quantities of meat, I will take my business to one of the other Brazilian restaurants in the Somerville area.
- Pros: excellent sirloin and porkloin
- Cons: rude owner,poor meat quality;no refills;inconsistent service

Come hungry.
by hardinghouseinncambrdge
Come hungry. That?s the best advice to prepare for this all-you-can-eat Brazilian feast called a Churrasco a Rodizio, which means rotating barbecue. The meal starts with an unlimited salad bar overflowing with more choices than you can count, including delicious roasted potatoes, rice, plantains, a dazzling array of salads, olives, spicy tuna and feijoada black bean stew. But that?s just the appetizer. What comes next is an endless procession of mouth watering grilled meats which waiters bring on sword-like skewers and slice at your table. Among the highlights are grilled Brazilian sausage, tender flavorful short beef ribs, lamb marinated in wine vinegar and garlic, juicy boneless chicken breast, and their famous roasted whole pork loin. Non-meat eaters can enjoy the fish stews: shrimp or the catch-of-the day sauteed in garlic, then simmered with chunks of tomato and casava root with coconut milk. And vegetarians will love the salad bar. Money-saving tip: come for lunch, it?s the same meal at a fraction of the cost.
unforgettable experience

I went to the Midwest Grill in Saugus yesterday for the first time and had a great time! Everything from the delicious food to the live music was amazing. The meats were tender and full of flavor =).
Also, our waitress was very attentive and considerate. I loved the decoration around the salad bar and the presence of the Brazilian culture. I highly recommend this restaurant to all!!
Romantic dinner, or how to impress your girlfriend
by George05051987
I went to this restaurant with my girlfriend for a romantic dinner and i was 100 % satisfied. Romantic LIVE music, from brazilian guitarist, relaxing atmosphere, tons of nice and juicy meat... what else do you need for a good date?
I think from all the variety of the meats they offer, the best thing is Top sirloin.. I strongly reccomend everybody go there just to try this, you won't regret.
and prices are not too bad. i would say reasonable price...
My opinion.. this is place to try.. and place to go...
And if you need to take your girl out.. don't even think..go to midwest...
Best wishes.. George. Lynn
- Pros: Good food for reasonable price, and romantic atmospere is priceless
- Cons: A little bit tough to park car in cambridge on the weekends

midwest grill rulessss!!!!

I've been going to Midwest Grill for almost 5 years now. I started off going to the location in Cambridge, then a new one was built on route one and it's alot more convenient for me. My family has had plenty of lunches and dinners at Midwest. The service is great, the people are very outgoing, down to earth and happy. Midwest has a large selection of barbecued meats to choose from. The sirloin steak is very tasteful and tender...reminds me of filet mignon. The servers always ask u exactly how u want it..rare, medium rare, or well. Everything else on the menu is great!...sausage, beef, chicken(wrapped in bacon =). pork, chicken hearts and much more....always served hot which is a plus for me. The atmosphere of the resaturant is very calm and relaxing, unless there brazilian jazz that night. They have singers come in which guitars and drums just to get the full effect of the brazillian culture. I highly recommend making a visit to the midwest bar and grill.
- Pros: good service, food, prices, atmosphere
- Cons: sunday lunch is a little noisy..but fun
All you can eat, cramped seating and noisy

I usually go to Greenfield at Allston, but since they shut down, I went to this place to check it out. The food is less salty here compared with Greenfield but the quality of the meat from Greenfield is just uncomparable. The meat wasn't tender at all, I had to chew hard on their beef. No skirt steak (the best stuff Greenfield served). No italian sausage, only kielbasa. The beef ribs was also below avg, Greenfield's was much better. Cocktails were OK....service was OK too.
The best part was the guitarist singer, he was pretty good. The food? I'll pass...
Great Place

There are a lot of fans of "meat" on here. But anyway...
It can sometimes be inconsistent at Midwest but my wife and I have been going there for almost 10 years now. And it is most assuredly on target most of the time. To say anyone in that place is rude is crazy, and that they are stingy??...Its all you can eat how can that be stingy??
One tip is that it is better to go later in the evening when its busier...the meat is coming out quicker and can be a bit better.
hopefully the Saugus location will be a succes for them
- Pros: friendly, fresh food, low stress
- Cons: loud, sometimes cramped seating
If you know meat and flavor - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE...

After hearing all the hype about Midwest Grill, I went for dinner thinking that it could surely satisfy the carnivorous desires of both my girlfriend and I, but I couldn?t have been more wrong. I should have known immediately from our overly water-downed beers that what was ahead of me was only disappointment.
While the buffet they offered with the meal was moderately edible, with good plantains and a bean dish that was tasty, the truth is these are only side dishes and not what anyone is shelling out their money for, like you, what interested me about this place was their meat. Of course, if you even have the chance to get some good meat from Midwest Grill, consider yourself lucky because the rude and stern servers going around with the meat skewers rarely came by and when they do, they ration out only the smallest portions. Now, perhaps the servers were doing me a favor and I didn?t know it, but what I do know is that every time I did get meat, it was bland and dry, if barely chewable, which is unacceptable when this is one of the more expensive churrasquerias in Boston. Hoping that it might just be a bad meat skewer that would improve in the next batch, we waited and went through several disappointing rounds but everything atrophied in taste, quality, and quantity with every round. The final straw came in our "dessert" options: canned peaches, old watermelon that looked half-chewed, and ice cream, the option that I sadly opted for, but which ended up being spoiled.
Midwest Grill is simply an overrated, expensive embarrassment that should be avoided. In addition, the editorial staff of CitySearch needs to rethink their glowing recommendation of this restaurant, there are better and cheaper locations out there ? learn to differentiate please.
- Pros: Plantains and Bean Dish
- Cons: Pretty Much Everything - save your money and pepto, go anywhere else...
