Thomas is the best stylist I've seen in years. I've been many of the top salons in Boston, but this is the first place I've felt completely comfortable and listened to! There's a reason they've been in Harvard Sq for so long. Check them out!

The best hair cut money can buy

If you have looked for the right haircut for years (like I did), your search will end at Alfred Salon. I had the best haircut ever with Thomas - in his unhurried manner he first asked me about my work, how I dressed to work etc. and then very candidly told me I needed to get rid of my 'college girl' haircut if I wanted to be taken seriously at senior management meetings. And then he proceeded to recommend the right cut and the right color. I love the haircut he gave me - it was worth every dollar!

Knows exactly what you want

Thomas is great! What differentiates Alfred Salon is the consultation-- you will think the best hair cut looks terrible if it's not what you want. The hair dressers at this salon make sure that they know exactly what you want and then they do a perfect job at making sure that what you want looks good on you.

Best Haircut in Boston area

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I've been a loyal client of Thomas since 2001. With traffic, it takes about 90 mins to get there, but it is so worth it. I can't imagine letting anyone else touch my hair....if Thomas ever moved to another city, I'd be (seriously) flying to see him every 5 weeks for my cut and color.

I have thick, straight hair that I keep short... Other hairdressers cut it so that it doesn't look feminine and it is way too harsh. Thomas has been able to use a method that makes it look both feminine and chic. I regularly get stopped by strangers asking for my hairdresser's name and number.

I work in corporate America, and Thomas has provided me lots of tips about how to dress, makeup, eyeglasses and general business tips (he has a lot of very successful clients from Harvard and MIT). Since I've been going to him, my salary has nearly DOUBLED! I really believe that it is all in the packaging (as long as you have the brains to go along with it)- and being put together pays off.

Last but not least, I love just talking with Thomas and Alfred and hearing the general salon banter. They cover everything from politics to vacation tips... Now they have a radio show, so I download it and listen to it when I need something to get me laughing.

All in all- I can't say enough good things about this salon....I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

P.S. They validate parking at local garages; sometimes you can get on-street meter parking. It is close to the Harvard Sq T Stop. They are open nights and I think they are open 7 days a week.

Best Haircut -with no attitude

I have hard to cut Asian hair. I want something that I can spike up to look cool, but calm down for meetings at my firm. The razor cut I get is by far the best style I've ever had. I used to live in London-I thought it was the only place to get the Euro haircut . But I found the spot here in Boston: The Alfred Harvard Square Salon.

Love everything about getting my hair done at Alfred's. Karen does it perfectly. My color and cut always come out just right. I am always relaxed and taken care of.
