Respectable Chinese food, decent atmosphere, ok service
by jumboiowan at Citysearch
Changsho is a great place to get solid chinese food. I agree with some people's claims that it is overpriced. However, there are not better options in the Cambridge area. You can always count on eating something tasty and different if that is what you desire. Personally I highly recommend the spicy moo-shi. Something I haven't seen a lot of places. I would recommend this to anyone that wants chinese food in Cambridge.
- Pros: parking lot across the street, taste you can count on
- Cons: service can be on and off, the restaurant is too open inside so when it is crowded, it gets noisy
Great chinese food

I think the price of the food is reasonable and the flavors of the dishes are excellent. I enjoy eating the lunch buffet the most because it is the best value for the buck. Having a parking lot is a big plus because finding parking on Mass Ave. can be a real pain in the ass. Decor inside is nice and the service was good. I like their hot and sour soup.
- Pros: Tasty food
Top-notch Chinese cuisine shines in elegant surroundings in Porter Square.

The Scene
The staff says the restaurant takes its name from a province of China known for its hospitality and exceptional cuisine. Visitors to this classy eatery certainly enjoy a healthy dose of both. On most nights, patrons take their pick of seats in the expansive dining room, which seats well over 200 and is decorated with antique artwork. Friendly waiters are quick to refill water glasses or deliver a side of dipping sauce.
The Food
The lengthy menu features several different styles of Chinese cooking, including Hunan, Mandarin and spicy Szechuan. After starting with homemade pork dumplings or delicately fried calamari, try one of the kitchen's signature dishes: Good choices include a sizzling platter of filet mignon in mushroom sauce or delectable pan-fried Chilean sea bass smothered with shredded ginger and scallion. Health-conscious diners choose from a plethora of heart-friendly entrees, including an entire section of bean curd dishes.
Food is good, but, too expensive
by tanvi414 at Citysearch
For dinner, I generally get their hot and sour soup, lo mein and empress chicken.. All pretty good... However, I've noticed their portions shrinking over the past year or so..
Their lunch buffet is usually their best value for money. They have a decent amount of vegetarian dishes as well.. The sunday afternoon brunch though is way too expensive..
And, they have lazy susans on their round tables which is always a source of amusement when you are in a big group!
- Pros: Nice ambience, Decent Food, Parking Lot
- Cons: Very expensive, Small portions
Chang Sho , average.
by infrared66 at Citysearch
Hi , I just tried Chang sho last night for the first time, it was fairly expensivefor two average entrees and a large soup, $36.00. The ingredients in the food seemed to be all fresh but the flavors were bland and one dimensional. The hot & sour soup was very peppery, the calamari was very salty not much pepper as promised, and last but not least the eggplant was soggy.
Sorry ,I expected a little more from a classy looking restaurant so close to some other great dining experiences so close to places like the Porter Exchange.
Best regards, Jon.
Better then any other chinese place in Cambridge--

I have to agree with others --its not cheap to eat at this place-- sit down or take out your going to pay -- well its worth it if your in the mood for good chinese food.. Service is great-- I think they are a little to good-- they are quick to get you in and out.. Yes they have a parking lot but dont expect to always get a spot on the weekend..place gets packed -- I go to this place every 2 months and its worth the treat-- better then the other place across from porter
- Pros: nice looking chinese dumplings, no Tv's
- Cons: cost, rush to get the check
Overpriced, clean, boring, tasteless...
by czech at Citysearch
I took a note of a solide building on Mass Ave a few weeks ago and thought to myself it could be a nice place to visit - I did it yesterday, so my impressions are quite fresh. In short: a clean place with Chinese music making for an authentic fealing of being in a real Chinese restaurant. Nice service. BUT: very much overpriced. The hot and sour soup for 3,50 USD I ordered had absolutely no taste and the portion was too too small. I was given no sugar either spoon to tea. The Sichuan chicken plate which cost 11,50 USD was below average. Not worth visiting.
- Pros: More or less clean, nice music, nice furniture and service
- Cons: Tasteless food, overpriced, (smiling) waiters oblivious of their direct duties
Awful service, overpriced food
by ian_boston at Citysearch
A group of friends and I went here based on others' recommendations. We found that the staff was rude and the food, though decent, was overpriced. What's more, I walked one of my friends home afterwards because she was feeling sick (she threw up as soon as she got home), and I came back to find my car had been towed from the restaurant parking lot. They tow as soon as the place closes. Adding the $90 from the meal, we were out $200 for a poor dining experience... Definitely not worth it....
Upscale Chinese restaurant, great brunch
by lgarcin2001 at Citysearch
The atmosphere is very elegant and the menu offers a wide selection of chinese delicacy. The Sunday brunch is a great all you can eat buffet. Try the chicken and eggplant dish it is one of my favorites.
