Try Sunday morning brunch; Saturday night never ended.

My boyfriend and I try to go to Tremont 647 for brunch whenever we can. We've also tried $2 Taco Tuesday which has great drinks but the food is just alright. The pyjama brunch is lots of fun - bottomless Illy coffee, extremely cool waiters and waitresses, and great food. I always get Andy's Huevos Rancheros, which I would strongly recommend, although on occasion, the rice and black beans are a little on the crunchy side. In addition, we always have a pop tart and it is always fantastic, since the pastry chef is unbelievably good. Also, if you are a regular patron sometimes you get to sample things which aren't on the menu...

amazing neighborhood hangout

i've been hanging out at tremont 647 since the end of the summer. i've gotten really friendly with the staff and theyre all great! brandon and bonnie (bartenders) honestly make some of the most delicious and wellbalanced drinks i've ever had.. everything from their amazing pineapple martini to their raspberry lime gimlet, to dirty martinis. their wine list is all organic and the bartenders are very knowledgeable. they infuse all of their own vodkas, and offer seasonal and specialty martinis created by the staff. the food is usually pretty good... brunch is definitely a high point!! while i have had some less-than-spectacular food experiences, the staff will not gladly fix whatever is wrong until you are satisfied. most recently i tried the while mushroom gnocci, and it was incredible! (which was surprising because the kitchen was about to close in 5 minutes).

overall, if you're in the south end and looking for a neighborhood hangout, this is the place to be. even as a straight chick (in a serious relationship) i love coming here because i don't have to worry about sleazy guys hitting on me!! the food is creative and interesting, and the staff can't be beat!

also, i recently found out that they recycle everything, have a compost out back, and their wine list is entirely organic! they also just launched a new vegan menu and are soon starting a late-night menu (which is great because as of now the kitchen closes at 10). they use a lot of local and grassfed meats, and buy local and sustainable!! yay!!

• Cons: slightly expensive, no parking (but they have a valet), gets really packed

Great PJ Brunch

We went here over the summer for the PJ brunch with another couple and our (combined) 4 toddlers. Food and service were both excellent. Our server was very attentive, and they even gave us our own private room in the back (although with 4 small kids, I can understand why!). Food really was quite delicious, and all very reasonable. We'll definitely be back.

went for restaurant week w/friends. food was good but not exceptional.

their "tibetan pork"(?) dumplings... i don't know... tell me why it's any different from regular pork dumplings?

other items (i had the steak, can't remember what dessert) were great, ambiance was great, price... was great--bc it was restaurant week prix fixe.

647 Tremont St., Boston, MA: Lobster Mac & Cheese, and Pork Chili with Sweet Potato

This chic little restaurant is about one mile from the theater district, a relatively easy 15 to 20 minute walk in good weather.

The food was excellent, as was the service. I made the reservation that day and asked if we would have enough time to make our show. Not only did they remember me when I got there, but the server was very attentive which helped us stick to our time frame.

The Lobster Mac & Cheese is usually a seasonal entree but I got lucky and they had it on the menu last night. I'm not necessarily a Lobster lover --sometimes I find it a little bland-- but I had read other reviews for this signature dish and I was intrigued by the concept. It was a satisfying premium version of the classic comfort food with an ever so slightly sweet sauce that wasn't too heavy. And there was a generous amount of medium sized succulent chunks. The texture of the Lobster contrasted nicely with the al dente pasta.

I enjoyed it so much that we ordered one for our two baby sitters to share as a thank you for making a rare night out possible.

And our server was kind enough to ask the Chef Owner, Andy Husband, how long we could safely leave it in the car while we caught the show. That may explain why he dropped by our table and described how he makes it. The cheese sauce includes milk, cheddar cheese, swiss cheese and a little bit of diced red and green pepper.

It wasn't cheap, about $24.00 but unless you have a really big appetite you could probably split it with someone or take half of it home for a pleasant reminder of an amazing meal.

We also had the Pork Chili with Sweet Potatoes and Beans. I was hoping it would have been a little sweet but it was flavorful and mild with a slight kick. The Pork was very tender and it was garnished with crisp julienned tortilla.

The Blue Cheese Polenta was creamy, almost fluffy, with a subtle amount of the distinctive taste of Blue Cheese.

Overall, a great dining experience.

Moderate food, great service

The service here is top-notch. Our reservation was messed up and we were given drinks (5) and an appetizer on the house for our trouble. The server was personable and friendly. Unfortunately, that's where it ended. The food was mediocre. The menu has no rhythm and is not descriptive enough to properly identify the food. The tuna tartar was ok, but definitely heavily salted. The special appetizer wings were flavorless and uninspired. I ordered the shrimp and scallop entree and was extremely disappointed when my plate was delivered with a strong smell of cumin emanating from it. A lot of the food was presented as southern (fried chicken & greens) and I was served an indian inspired, cumin overloaded dish, with no warning.

The server, again, was amazing and had my meal replaced within minutes and was very gracious about it. I am not one to complain, but this was one of those times. Both entrees (the one I ate and the one I didn't) were taken off the menu, which was definitely above and beyond.

The desserts were simply OK. Nothing special, nothing terrible.

I give the service at this restaurant 10 stars out of 5, but the food forces me to give it just 2 stars. It's definitely a great place for drinks, but I'd be wary about trying their food again.

Great service, great food, interesting cocktails

I went to this place during restaurant week with my sister and one year old neice - I don't know what the reviewers above me are talking about - I had a great experience here! First of all, the service was excellent - our waitress really knew the menu & was able to make recommendations for us. Also, the staff was extremely accomodating and sweet to the baby - it made our dining experience very enjoyable. Our cocktails were tasty but also strong enough to justify ordering a drink. And, finally the food - I found everthing unique and delicious. My sister ordered the crab gnocchi appetizer, which we highly recommend. Overall, a great experience and unique interpretations of classic comfort food -

STAY AWAY!! TERRIBLE FOOD!

My family and I went out to dine here during restaurant week. We anticipated a great meal since we've heard a lot about the chef and the popularity of the place. This is by far the worse meal we have ever eaten in Boston. Everything we ordered from appetizers to deserts was cafeteria quality food. We will never ever come back here again. Stay away and head over to Sibling rivalry or Aquitaine.

Disappointing

My boyfriend and I dined here recently and I was really excited, as I had heard great things. I ordered the salmon and it was undercooked to the point that the inside was completely rare. We waited about 30 minutes for my plate to come back out after I told the waiter, and in the meantime, my boyfriend's dish got cold. Finally, the waiter brought me a new dish and this time the salmon was overcooked ( maybe the chef was overly cautious this time?) to the point where the outside was seared to a crisp. At this point my boyfriend had finished his dinner and they had taken his plate away, and he awkwardly waited for me to finish. On top of this, we waited another 30 minutes for dessert. I can understand a mistake, but am less forgiving for a bill that totals over $100. I thought at least a glass of wine would be comped for the mistake but, alas, nothing was. All of this and less than superb food left me pretty disappointed.

Not dog friendly!!!

Readers beware, this is NOT a dog-friendly restaurant.

I found Tremont 647 on a "dog friendly" web site. I phoned first to make sure that it was OK to bring my puppy to dinner with me. I was told that dogs were welcome on the patio. Once I arrived, I waited 40 minutes to be told by the Manager that my puppy had to be tied up outside, that it was a Board of Health rule that dogs were not allowed on the patio.

Meanwhile, they have "dog brunches" on Saturdays so this was obviously a lie.

The best part? I paid $14 for valet parking, which the manager refused to refund. I was really upset. I ended up eating outdoors at another restaurant on Tremont Street, with my puppy, just two blocks away.

The wait staff apologized for the Manager's behavior. Even the valet guy felt bad. By the way, it was not a busy night.
