I have had very good experiences by James J. at InsiderPages

Contributor at Insider Pages

I don't know what's up with these other reviews, but having had two pets with terminal illnesses cared for at South Bay Veterinary Group, I can say that in many office visits and worried phone calls I have had only good experiences, particularly in difficult circumstances.

Specialists had recommended putting one pet down immediately because she was suffering even thought she seemed ok, if a bit unwell, outwardly.

After consultation with one of the docs there, who spent a good deal of time researching her case and bugging the specialists for the info they forgot to tell him or me, he was able to give me very good advice. My pet has lived so far 15 weeks past that date, and is doing quite well. She won't live forever, but these doctors gave my pet and me a lot of quality time together.

I also had to have another pet put down and did it there. They were very good about it.

The office staff have also taken a good deal of time to help in very trying circumstances.

I have seen some pretty harsh customers in that office -- those of you with issues, try being nice to everyone around you, and see if that changes things.

PROS: Very well trained in veterinary medicine

CONS: Busy office

Fails to react in an emergencies!!

by DogLover100 at Citysearch

After failing to react in emergencies and mis - diagnosing a pet who had cancer I stopped going

here after many years. The principals Wosko and Constantino are excellent if you can get in to see them.

The rest are terrible! Some of the rudest, world revolves around me staff I have ever encountered.

Unusual Practices!

by Devin00 at Citysearch

They seem like an extraordinary vet and have exceptional references,

BUT

What is this $55 dollar new pet fee? Am I the only one who finds this unusual? I have to pay money so that I can have the privilege of being THEIR CUSTOMER? Is this a hedge fund, and they're guaranteeing a 20% extended life expectancy. Is this Sam's Club and they're going to provide bulk medical discounts? I mean this is ridiculous. No doctor that operates on actual humans pulls this nonsense, yet they find this completely acceptable.

Also, even though they have AVAILABILITY, and my pug is sick and needs to see someone immediately, they require a 2 week waiting period to consult new patients. Seriously this place is a joke. I don't know what kind of professionals set these requirements on their practice. Please give you money to more worthy practices.

If anyone from South Bay Clinic is interested in speaking about this matter further feel free to contact me.

Caring Doctors & Amazing service!

by amor7007 at Citysearch

I have two chihuahuas, one older and a new puppy. I had taken my older one to a different vet earlier on before I found South Bay Group. Now that I'm bringing my new one to South Bay and going through all the puppy things there, I am completely impressed.

My little one recently got neutered and comparing both experiences, I was totally comforted, impressed and happy with the outcome. He had the tiniest little incision that healed perfectly in just a little over a week and he was never in any pain. The sutures were perfect and inside, as my poor older dog had gotten metal staples that fell out the next day when he got neutered at the other vet.

All in all, top notch service with extremely caring and professional doctors. I would recommend to ANYONE with pets!!

  • Pros: caring, warm doctors

Great Doctors

by Patycolo at Citysearch

I have been taking my dog since 8/2007 here and they are great. They treat them as if they were their own dog, and they know a lot, and do not jump into conclusion if they find something. They look for everything before diagnostic them.

I would recommend them with my eyes close

Great Clinic, Great Vets

by karsenault at Citysearch

I love this clinic! I have been bringing my dogs in for the last two years, and the office is at a great location, clean and professional. I used to live in upstate New York, and what a difference in care! This clinic can handle anything: My dog even goes in for ultrasounds! My partner has been going to this clinic for the last 10 years, and he agrees.

Definately ask for Dr. Constantino or Dr Wosko, as they are the best! If you need to speak with a technician, ask for Liz or Kelly, they are the smartest and nicest to work with. Try to avoid anyone with a facial piercing...no offense, they just seem young and not as knowlegable, but I believe they are just receptionists. My only problem ever has been was with a rude and not knowledgable staff person named Alivia who REFUSED to ask the doctor a question for me (and instead talked at the front desk about her wedding to another client), but she is easily avoidable.

GREAT CLINIC!!! Take your pets there!

  • Pros: Great service, great location
  • Cons: parking

South Bay Vets are Excellent

by betzim at Citysearch

I have been bringing my dogs to South Bay for over 10 years and have had nothing but good experiences. I usually see Dr. Constantino (who is excellent) and have occasionally seen Dr. Wosko who is also very competent.

They have done check-ups, vaccinations, teeth cleanings and one leg surgery on my pups and have had successful results every time. I would highly recommend them.

As for them being cold? (see previous review) I have found them to be very friendly and compassionate. Not cold at all.

Parking IS difficult, but the care of my dogs is more important to me than ease of parking, so I just deal. Arrive early to leave time for finding a parking spot.

  • Pros: Very knowledgeable and compassionate, really care about the animals
  • Cons: Parking difficult

Surprised by last review

by cynsia at Citysearch

This vet was recommended by a woman I work with and I have been going there for 2 years or so. They are the perfect balance of excellent care at a reasonable price. Dr. Constantino has excellent "bedside manner" and has been great with my kitty. They were awesome about getting my cat in for a hospital stay after spending $$$$ at Angell Memorial (the best for middle of the night care but costly). The only thing I don't like is trying to get an appointment! I highly recommend Dr. Constantino.

  • Pros: Reasonable cost
  • Cons: lack of on-street parking, hard to get appointments

Look Elsewhere

by thedrewster at Citysearch

Found the vets and the staff very cold. They came across as if they thought they were superior. They were also rude when called by a surgeon's office and asked to fax over my pet's medical records! Take your furry friends ELSEWHERE!
