I have been taking Pilates for 8 years all over the country. I will tell you that Sharon Barry is one of my most favorite teachers. Sharon is demanding but a lot of fun to take with, she was the excitement at the end of my day. I highly highly recommend going to Boston Body and make sure you take from Sharon.
- Pros: Great Instructors, great energy, great area of the city.
- Cons: Pilates is expensive but well worth it!!!!
I hate to excercise, but I love Boston Body!!!

I am SOOO not an athlete, but Boston Body is great - fun, not itimidating, and a great workout. Sharon, in particular is FABULOUS - a great trainer - she really knows her stuff - most importantly, knows how to adapt the session to your individual needs and skill-level.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: closed on Sundays, website does not allow you to cancel, reschedule FUTURE appts. - only make new ones (not cool)
The best Pilates in Boston

I just visited Boston from Manhattan where I take Pilates at a top studio there. The concierge at my hotel recommended Boston Body and I went there for two equipment classes. I loved everything about it. The atmosphere is so small and no attitude from anyone-other clients or staff. The classes were better than my regular classes-great instructor. I got alot out of the classes-definitely recommend to anyone and will come back next time I am in Boston.
- Pros: best pilates classes i have taken
- Cons: not open on sundays
small but worth it!!

I hated the thought of just lying there on the floor and stretching. It seemed so boring. I was offered a chance to go to my first pilates class at Boston Body on Newbury.... I love it.! It is a small studio but so inviting It is very clean and smelled wonderful. The staff are the most humble and experienced I have seen in the work out world in a long time. I have found a new avenue to work my body it is Pilates at BOSTON BODY. Thanks for the opportunity Kathryn you ROCK!!!!

I just started getting serious about pilates a month ago and the mat and group equipment classes at Boston Body are unbeatable. They make you feel right at home, pay special attention if you have any injuries or health concerns, and make the classes a lot of fun after a long stressful day. The teachers are outstanding - Cathrine, Renee and Arnold are by far the best part about this studio. They are extremely fun to work with, give each student their undivided attention, and focus on all the right areas to get you looking and feeling your best.
- Pros: teachers, class options, class times, equipment
- Cons: parking
The Best

I've been doing Pilates for years and tried just about every studio and trainer in the city. Boston Body has the coolest atmosphere and has the best instructors, hands down. Sharon is one of the most experienced trainers in town and pushes you to the limit. Between her, Jonathan and Kathryn, you couldn't find a better place to work out and I nominate Sharon for Improper Bostonian's trainer of the year! I don't know what the negative reviews are about, but they are definitely out dated. If you haven't tried Boston Body lately, it's definately time to.
Experienced instructors

I've taken several classes here and have really enjoyed the experience. The instructors here are really good - they give very clear explanations on each movement - especially Kathryn. The atmosphere is very friendly and the staff knows all of the students on a first name basis. I've noticed marked improvements in my form even after just a few classes! And I disagree on the comments regarding pricing and sales pressure.
Over priced for nothing

This studio is basically the same as other studio's around town but significantly more expensive and offers nothing to justify that other than the Newbury address. The staff (owner) also is constantly in sales mode trying to get you to buy more expensive private lessons. Stay away from this studio - you're better off trying others.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Expensive, arrogant atmosphere

The Scene
It's hip, it's loud and it's fun to work out here. Boston Body takes pride in its variety of classes--whether you're into double-step or tribal-step workouts, or just a good old butts 'n' guts routine, it's here. The crowd is young and hip, and seems to reflect an equal amount of each gender. When school's in session, it's not unusual to see Emerson students sweating it out. Everyone seems to know everyone and the friendly staff is on a first-name basis with all members.
The Workout
Membership includes access to all classes, weight rooms, cardio room and one personal training session; babysitting is available. Other pay services include Thai massage, personal training, tanning and nutritional counseling. The club also offers extensive yoga and Pilates programs.

I took a pilates class and the instructor was very informative on proper breathing and the mind body connection while doing the moves. I felt that after a couple sessions I was already more toned
PROS: great workout
CONS: none
