I went to another stylist there who was... ok. Then I read a review about Fiona and Trisitica. So I took the first available girl and it was Tristica. I'm obsessed with keeping long hair. She gave me a great style without cutting off too much. It looked professional, it was flattering, and it flowed. It turns out that Fiona was Trisitica's instructor.

Some people cut hair to make money. Fiona cuts hair because it's her expertise. I've been going to her for over 10 years and had been to the best salons in NYC, Providence and Boston. She is, by far, the best stylist I've ever had. Absolutely worth the money. Many compliments, even after all these years. She's the tops!

First of all, the history of Vidal Sassoon is a blast to read about. He's amazing.
Second, to become a Sassoon stylist, you have to go to a VIdal Sassoon Institute. If you're a wimp, you quit and take an easier road. And you still might be cutting hair on Newbury Street and making $$$$ -- but you know what? Everyone down the street at Vidal Sassoon will be better than you, more dedicated than you, more committed to the craft.
So lovely ladies of Boston , you can go all over Newbury Street -- and I have -- but if you have the money to spend, go for the highest quality, which also happens to mean sweet name recognition.
No snobs, no waste of time, just awesome cuts and color. Free consultation too if you are thinking of something new!
PLUS: they're NOT like so many other Newbury bastards who won't make an appt unless you give them a credit card #. Don't go anywhere that demands this. That's low class.
- Pros: AWESOME CUT!! Great atmosphere and kind service.
- Cons: Precision takes some time -- don't be in too much of a hurry

After I lost my hair during chemo, a friend suggested I use a short-hair expert at Vidal Sassoon as my hair grew in. I did, and loved the place. My short-hair expert left and I tried a couple of others till I settled on Edward for the cut (he is fabulous) and Talia for color (ditto). Yes, it can be busy (try a Monday if you want it quieter) but it's an energy-filled place. My experiences have been excellent as far as getting an appointment, timeliness, politeness. There is a private garage nearby, not inexpensive, but handy.
- Pros: expert cuts, expert color
- Cons: some might consider it too busy except on Monday

I have been going to Fiona at Vidal Sassoon for several years. I just happened to be surfing through Citysearch and thought I ought to voice my two cents! I grew up in NYC and went to the best salons in NY including Sassoon until I moved to Boston. I was skeptical about going anywhere other than my favorite salon in NYC, but I took a leap of faith and tried Sassoon. That was 10 years ago and I've stuck with Fiona the entire time. She always takes her time with me and is meticulous about her technique and making sure I'm happy. I've sent lots of people her way and noone has been dissapointed.

. I booked with Edward and he cut my hair perfectly and worked with me for exactly the style I was looking for. He was professional, nice and made my hair look awesome. I am definitely going to go back to him when I need another cut. PS if you have thick hair book a "double appointment" so that you don't mess up the stylists whole day. Students get a discount of 20% Mon-Thur"

I was in line at Whole Foods and couldn't stop staring at the woman's hair in front of me. I finally asked her who cuts her hair and she told me Fiona at Vidal Sassoon. It was the second time that someone told me that name. She couldn't stop raving about this woman and how much she enjoys her haircuts. So I called Vidal and was told the first appointment I could get would be in two weeks. The girl on the phone kept insisting that I try someone else there even after I told her I would wait for an appointment with Fiona. For those prices, I was really annoyed that she tried to have me go to some other (obviously less busy) haircutter. Based on my experience with the receptionist, I was expecting a salon with attitude. It was the total opposite. I was greeted by a nice man who walked me through the robing situation and got me a great cup of coffee and joked about his "barista" skills. I was barely settled before Fiona came over and introduced herself. She asked me how I was reccomended and we laughed at the inexpensive advertising. I told her I had been getting my hair cut in Cambridge and had been unhappy with my cuts for some time. Fiona made a lot of suggestions and asked me alot of questions that actually made sense when deciding on how I should wear my hair. I felt very comfortable from the second I sat in her chair. When I first got to the salon it appeared to be quite empty but within minutes it turned into Grand Central. I waited for a few minutes to get my hair washed (along with 4 other people) and then when it seemed like it would never happen, Fiona told me she would be washing my hair. She explained that they usually have trainees that shampoo but were short handed that morning and said she didn't want to have me waiting. I am so thrilled with the haircut I got. I'm usually not the type of person to write reviews but I really feel like I got a terrific service from a real professional (with no attitude). I wish I knew before.

the person above me hardcore lies, you dont discuss what you want they do whatever they damn well please. LEON is by far the worst hair stylist in the world. i had been growing my hair out and i'm pretty edgy so i said as long as you keep all my length go wild. i was left with a bowl cut and one really long piece of hair. i looked retarded. he BUZZED the back of my head and cut one side WAY shorter than the other, and ive never had even hair but this was insane looking. dont EVER EVER EVER EVER GO THERE. Vidal Sassoon would have dropped dead if he saw my hair. go to Niki's South Street the womans done every models hair in the world and is fantastic! one star is one too many but hey...

I am a self-professed beauty junkie and started spending $$ on cuts at the ripe ol' age of 15 years, flying to NYC to get my hair cut at Bumble and Bumble...Then realizing I could get equally amazing cuts at the Vidal Sassoon in Beverly Hills. When I went to college, I drove 2 hours to get my hair cut at the Vidal Sassoon in San Francisco...And now here I am at grad school and getting my hair cuts at the Vidal Sassoon on Newbury St. in Boston.
This is my background in top stylists. Over these 9 years, there have only been two great stylists I would recommend without a doubt. One is in Bev. Hills ("G") but here in Boston, Tristica.
My heart is in L.A. but I must admit I have NEVER gotten so many people stopping me before since Tristica cut my hair this past March. I have now officially counted 10 women (not to mention numerous men taking second looks) and decided it was time to write on this thing to announce that Tristica's hair cut has apparently rocked all of Cambridge because I have never passed out so many references before. Today three woman stopped me on my way to the library to ask where they could get my cut and at work, women of all ages are asking where to find Tristica.
Her price is great, her style rocks (I couldn't resist buying a similar outfit to hers with the vest and jeans), and she is by far the most relaxed and personable in that place...which is great for a girl from Cali. So if you want a top haircut for a reasonable price (about $75) and no airs from a stuck-up stylist, then ask for Tristica....My a-line bob even when worn curly is wooing all of Harvard.

- Cons: Getting all the other snotty stylists
