I highly recommend Katie at Jean-Pierre! I went in asking for a drastic change in hairstyle (cutting it from below my shoulders to a short crop - and I have always had long hair!), and she not only really listened to my needs, but also took her time so that if I felt comfortable. The end result was perfect - she adjusted the styles I had been looking at to suit my face and lifestyle. I LOVE my new hair! I have never so thoroughly enjoyed a salon experience, and I made sure to book my next appointment before I left! The prices were really affordable ($40 for a haircut - and she really took her time), and the entire staff was pleasant and friendly. I can't wait to go back!
Pros: Great Staff (Katie), Affordable, Pleasant Atmosphere, Convenient location
Cons: None!

I'm a very picky person when it comes to getting my hair cut. I've been going to Jean Pierre off and on for over 10+ years & I started going to Manny about 2 years ago or so. At first I'm sure he thought I was a nut case. I mean for a guy I was "ok not too short over here, a little longer there, no thinning shears....etc." Anywho, he listens to me and I've never, ever not had a great hair cut. Now for a guy I'm pretty simple, nothing Uber fancy etc. but people do say to me "Niiice hair cut!" when I come from Manny's chair. I come during my work day so he's always nice enough to give me a rinse and then let me re-style my hair again so I can go back to work. ( Desk job in financial services, again, I'm very picky! ;-) ) Anyway, he does a great job even with all my quirks and would recommend him to anyone hands down.
Pros: Great stylist, Can get same day appointments, Nice atmosphere.
Cons: None.

How can I say in the most sincere way possible that Manny at Jean Pierre is amazing? The reason that Jean Pierre's secret (or maybe not so secret) magician is so wonderful is not because he is so skilled that one person can have a few great cuts and write a review about it like the one preceding this, but because all over Boston -correction- the Eastern Seaboard, people's heads are getting whiplash nodding in agreement. Seriously, Manny is, as Tony Montana might say, some Class-A sh*t. I am a person who, until someone recommended Manny to me a couple years ago, would get a haircut every two or so years, only to do it and be reminded why exactly I had waited two years. I never went to the same stylist twice. But Manny knows what he's doing. I always thought "I must just have bad hair". Now I go to Manny regularly and every time, I find myself getting random compliments from random strangers. Everyone knows that to compliment someone's hair is actually to compliment someone's entire appearance. See, Manny doesn't just whip out some impressive style to stick on everyone's head. He can figure out in the most subtle way how to make someone's hair look naturally and easily great, in a way that is unique to them. He is like the difference between buying a cheap dress or having one tailor made. Have him cut your hair, and men will stare at you on the train. Gay men will fawn over you. Bitchy women will give you mean looks and sweet ones will give you secret little smiles. But most of all, you will look nice with zero effort and be able to keep your mind on more important things. Manny is nuts!!

Anybody who has been to Jean Pierre knows the infamous Manny. Normally I do not trust people with my hair. I was referred to Manny. As he was cutting my hair, dyeing it, I remember being apprehensive. After he was done, I had the best hair cut I've gotten in long time. Now I'm hooked and have to go get a touch- up, or sometimes a brand new color and cut from Manny every month. I've had about 5 people ask me on the street or at the store who does my hair and i always refer them to Manny now too. Honestly kids, this guy works magic.

Jean-Pierre hair salon is my absolute favorite place to be. My stylist Manny came highly recommended from two female friends (I am a male) and I have been using him exclusively for over two years now. Manny is inded a true artist and one of the most talented people I have ever encountered. Manny is a great listener, very attentive to my needs and also makes great suggestions when he is asked. I always get compliments from friends and often strangers on my hair after leaving the salon. I would go nowhere else in Boston for my hair. The styles are terrific and the cut is always perfect; he keeps me trendy. Also, the staff is always overwhelmingly generous and all together fun to be around!
Pros: Manny, Highly Skilled, Trend-setting, Attention to Detail
Cons: Parking on Newbury St is difficult in general

I went to Jean Pierre Salon and had a haircut with Manny. It was my first time to the salon. I got the worst haircut of my life. I had long hair, halfway down my back. I told Manny that above all, I wanted my hair kept long. I told him several times that I wanted a long, feminine haircut with layers framing my face. We negotiated a few inches off. He gave me a blunt shoulder length cut that is beyond awful, has zero style, and is carelessly done (the two halves are very different and there are pointy pieces sticking out). The cut is boring, really short, and looks bad on my face. Most importantly, he didn't listen to anything I said. I have gotten sad every time I have looked in the mirror since then. It will take me more than a year for my hair to grow out. Based on Manny's personality - bossy, opinionated, a crappy listener, does what he wants - I cannot imagine that he would give anyone a good haircut. He blatantly ignored everything I said and by the time it was over, it was too late - he couldn't put the hair back on my head and all I could do was walk out of the salon in shock. My friends have agreed that this is a bad haircut. I hope I can prevent even one person from going in for the same awful treatment.

I am extremely picky about my hair and since I moved back to Boston from college, I have been paranoid about getting it cut by anyone other than the girl that I had met during my time in Chicago. However, I read a review for Katie and went and saw her and have since recommended my mom and friends because I LOVE her cut. She is very good at listening and takes her time. My hair feels awesome and better than it did in college! I would not go to anyone else

My girlfriends and I decided to make a girl's day out on Newberry Street to get new summer haircuts. We all went to Jean-Pierre and we all left thrilled!!! All four of us have totally different hair types, and they were all cut professionally and beautifully. My stylist was Cathe Nunes, a friendly, stylish woman who knows her stuff! I have curly, hard to manage hair but she knew just what to do to give me a funky, summer cut. I was so happy! Also, the price was nothing (around $40!). I definitely reccomend this place!
Pros: Cathe, price, service
Cons: Hard to find (affordable) parking - take the T!
