New Year Eve.... We were scammed

by pranav_me

The 2008 New Year's Eve party was a thorough dissappointment. First of all it was publicized as a Desi Party on many Websites. On calling the organizers before buying the tickets we were told that it will have a mix of indian and other music, but there was not even a single desi track played by the DJ nor any requests taken, the event was too pricy and was over-crowded for the price, the dance floor was messy and under-staffed. All in all a waste of time and considering we drove from Portland to attend the party it was a disaster. Not recommended at all!!!

by bterrell_2007

Having to start going to Aria i realized that i dont need to around only one race while clubbing. I have a great time with my girls when i go to the club on Fridays. DJ BIG and DJ UPTOWN spin the hottest beats and they try to mix it up once in awhile i do recommend this club on Friday nights i always have a good time. This is my first time message so just letting everyone know what is going down at ARIA

  • Pros: the two djs DJ big and DJ uptown and the bartenders

"Sophisticated indulgence" rules at this ostentatious club, where libidinous outfits or insider connections guarantee passage through the velvet rope.

by Alison Bulman

The Scene
After security thoroughly searches your bag and body, long-awaited entry is finally permitted. A red carpeted staircase descends onto a foyer overlooking a large, lavish, red room lit with chandeliers and candlelight. A large white upholstered phallic symbol doubling as a seatback rises from the center. The room brims with faces sizing up the latest newcomers in the foyer and the two salacious dancers on pedestals that frame it. Booties bump to the DJ's infectious bass. Fashion moguls J-Lo and Puffy clearly set the style bar among this ethnically diverse, twenty-something crowd.

The Draw
Crowds relish the celebrity worthy atmosphere. An all-white mosaic room and a small, cushy lounge are intimate escapes from the more crowded main room. Hip-hop and R&B promote carnal courting on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Saturday's DJ plays classic hits. Wednesday "Lust" nights are gay-oriented. Style reigns supreme at Thursday night fashion shows, industry parties and events open to the public.

I went to Aria as a last resort and I would not recommend it. The prices are rediculous...this is not Manhattan people!! It's supposed to be so trendy and upscale, but I've been to clubs with better atmospheres in Providence. Everyone thinks they're rich and the staff is rude. Overall I give it an F-

Why the high cover?

by daniellem02

The bouncers only let the girls through the line and made the guys in our party wait, even though we were the only people in line. So after my boyfriend bribed them, he let us through. Then we had to pay $15. The club was okay, very small dance floor, but good music. The crowd was young and they overuse the strobe light (maybe to blind you into thinking everyone is hot?) It was fun dancing, but then again, we were bombed, so we would've had fun anywhere that night. ; )

  • Pros: Good music
  • Cons: Expensive, Small dance floor, Bouncers

PRICY!

by silly_bean_girl

I think it's pretty pathetic that people spend 20$ to walk through the door and 9$ for a mixed drink to hang out with people that think that they are the "cutting edge" of clubbing! I'd rather stay home, thanks....BUT I did meet a red sox player there once. The dance floor is also wicked small.

New years blow up

by Nubian

Yo...me and the fellas hit Aria for New Years a few nights ago and I must say, I was impressed. It could stand to have more of a "mix" but that isn't the clubs fault. The music was really good, with the exception of about 20 minutes dedicated to tecno, but before and after was all gravy. I wouldn't go every night, but it definately makes my list.

  • Pros: Good drinks, nice staff
  • Cons: lack of mix, use of some tecno

Class

by hileigh

Aria is the place you can go to impress anyone - whether it is a new girl or friends from work. The staff there is amazing - very friendly and inviting. Always have hot models in the many fashion shows and the crowd is always beautiful. A very safe and classy place to go.

Fun, but not worth the hassle or money

by rugger

Aria is fun and upscale. It needs to get over itself, though. It's not Avalon, yet the lines are always as long, and the cover as much. I don't know about you guys, but they're not fooling me. I'll go if I'm on a guest list for line privileges and free admission. Otherwise, I couldn't imagine either waiting in the line or paying their cover. I'll wait in line at other clubs where the line actually moves and gladly pay their cover, but not at Aria. The cost in time and money simply isn't reasonable given the product they deliver. It's both fun and upscale, but, seriously guys...

  • Pros: fun, upscale, great music
  • Cons: as expensive as Avalo, long lines don't move, small dance floor
