Worth Every Penny!
by rpaxton
I am an extremely picky customer. I've gotten my hair cut in salons across the country, and I have to say that the best cut and color I've ever gotten was at G20! The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing, and I didn't feel like anyone was trying to rush me anywhere. My stylist made sure I was comfortable with every step before he continued. I wanted something new and fresh, and I got an extremely versatile hairstyle that was phenomenal. The thing about the cut I got was that it grew out very well. The stylist made a lot of bold color and cut decisions, but they were all in great taste, and I was thrilled with the results. It was expensive, but you get what you pay for, and I'm waiting until I can save up enough to go back!
Better services elsewhere on Newbury
by jennjennv
I went here for a facial and haircolor and was less than impressed by the service and skills of the staff. First of all, the facial I received was the least relaxing facial I have ever received. I have been up and down Newbury Street for facials and, on a whim, decided to try the facial at G20. BIG MISTAKE. Compared to other spas, G20 was by far the worst for the amount of money they charge. The technician was really rough with my skin, left me alone for several minutes during my facial and I ended with several bruises on my face the following day! Other spas are much more relaxing, professional and technically competent! DO NOT GO HERE!
To top off the worst experience ever, they also forgot to charge me for my haircolor service and had to call me after I left the salon to ask me whether or not they could use my credit card on file to charge me for the additional service. They overcharged me and were argumentative with me over the phone. I will definitely not be returning! Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. There are several other places on Newbury where you will get better service!
Best extention/stylist in boston
by iwasbuiltto
I have been going to Lisa Zogalis for quite some time now and don't ever plan on going to anyone else..
She is amazing and I highly recommend going to her if your looking for a new stylist or are just in need of flawless extension work.
honestly she has the freshest ideas and techniques and is completely under rated.
G2O is truly what anyone could ever look for in a saloon/spa
Best Women's hair cut/style ever
by shoppergirl1
I can not believe the review by TeenyDancer. She must have a Teeny Brain! Honestly, the only way I could see a bad result from Darren's work, would be if he had little to work with before he started. He is, after all, NOT a magician. After searching for YEARS for a competent stylist, I stumbled upon Darren. His technique and skills landed him on Boston's Best list for 2007. HELLO! I have been driving a 150 mile round trip about 6 times per year for the last 5-6 years just to get a spot in his chair. While he is cutting my hair, I notice other stylists studying his techniques. It's obvious that he is an artist with great talent. Anyone who wants to believe the awful review from TeenyDancer, please go ahead. That means I've got a much better chance of getting in Darren's completely crammed schedule!
Great haircut!

My girlfriend has been going to G2O for about a year now(maybe longer) and gets her hair cut and highlighted with Brady and she always looks great. She's been trying to get me to go see him since I usually go to whatever's cheap and I can walk right in and get a cut. Only problem, half the time I come home and my girlfriend freaks out when she sees me.....yeah I've had a few really bad haircuts. My last one was so bad that she insisted on making an appointment with Brady for me. I have to say it's the best $50 I've spent in a long time. Brady gave me by far the best cut I've ever had, easy to keep as well. My girlfriend won't let me go to anyone else now. She's happy, I'm certainly happy and the salon is really nice. Highly recommended!
- Pros: excellent cut and my GF's color always looks great
- Cons: none
Never Again
by TeenyDancer
I was referred to Darren at G20 on Newbury by two friends who have great hair, so after commuting to Manhattan every time I wanted a cut, I bit the bullet and tried a new place. While I must say that my highlights are great - really natural and exactly what I wanted - I will NEVER let him come near me with scissors again. My hair looked great in the chair, but as soon as I left and started to play with it, everything changed. I tried to live with it for a week, but ended up going down the street to a much better (and cheaper) salon in Somerville to get it fixed. The new stylist didn't believe me when I told her I had just gotten a cut - my ends were a mess, the shape was all wonky and the layers were all uneven. Speaking of layers, he gave me some thick, choppy super-short layers that give me a judy jetson style bubble head (with some random long pieces underneath) which unfortunately can only be fixed by time. Plus, he had left a hole on one side of my face and a 2-inch wide chunk in the back that was longer than everything else. Not cute.
All in all, Darren is a fraud. Go there only if you want to leave with a weird, unfixable shape looking like you haven't gotten a cut in months. If I only I could get my money back...
- Pros: Ambiance
- Cons: terrible results
Great!

Darren will give you the best hair-cut! It's very expensive, but worth every penny! Very good massages as well.
Impressed in more ways than one!
by sandylocks
I am pretty new to the whole "spa experience". A good friend recommended, G2O and I thought "why not?". My first time and I went all out with massage, mani/pedi, hair and a facial. They even served me a GREAT lunch! The experience was amazing! I am totally hooked and I will have to do it all again! The staff in general were very caring and thoughful at all turns... but the thing that I have to say impressed me the most was when I was checking out, the woman before me was throwing a fit. The poor man behind the desk stood there, taking a verbal beating from this woman... and I am not too sure exactly what happened but you could just tell she was being unreasonable. He remained polite and was attempting to calm her in every way. I thought he had amazing customer service skills and when she was done blowing up, he checked me out as up beat and cooly as if nothing had happened. This is a great skill and more people like him in general would be a vast improvement in the world. I will with out question be going back!
- Pros: Great service, and amazing staff
- Cons: parking
best massage ever!
by imable
I had one of the best experiences of my life at this place. I have been getting regular massages for the last 8-9 years, and this massage was BY FAR the best ever. The massuse was a very, small and attractive girl (not like that should matter), with surprisingly strong hands for a girl her size. She was very caring and intuitive, also very funny- strange sense of humour, which I enjoyed. I left with no knots or tension, just a great feeling of peace with the world. Very powerful.
Confused...
by emjaywatson
I'm confused as to what other users are saying when reviewing this spa and salon. I have been a regular for years, and have never received less than superb services. Everyone I have encountered, managers, front desk and technicians, have been extremely friendly and helpful. I'm a regular salon client, come in at least 4 times a year, and also treat myself to the Suddenly Slim body treatments every once in a while. Whenever I leave I feel like a princess. I really disagree to what the other users are saying. I have never received anything less than excellent service here.
- Pros: Exceptional service, friendly staff
