Bad Service by doreen m. at InsiderPages

I ordered a CD from Newbury via Amazon.com. The CD mailed quickly and arrived quicker -- but it wasn't the CD I ordered. When I wrote them, they told me they couldn't get the CD I'd ordered and to 'throw away' the one they sent...then I checked that one and it's $1.25 via Amazon...no wonder they said 'throw it away'...
My guess is that they never had the one I wanted to begin with...bizarre! I've never had a single problem with an Amazon vendor before, but you can bet I won't use Newbury again(and I buy LOTS of CDs!!).
Alternative culture goes mainstream at this popular pop-culture emporium.

The Scene
Once upon a time, this was a fringe store catering mainly to punk-rock diehards and hipper-than-thou college kids. But ever since alternative rock started blending with the prevailing trends, Newbury Comics' time has come. The store does a great job of mixing the organization and layout of a chain store with the expertise and range of a specialist store.
The Goods
Newbury Comics should be your first stop for new rock and pop on CD and vinyl. As is the case with most chains, Newbury's tape selection isn't strong. The store does what it does brilliantly--prices are typically a few dollars less per CD here than at other retail chains--but if you're looking for something other than rock, you'll do better elsewhere. There's also a roomful of eclectic novelties, including posters, magazines and yes, comics.
Still the Best!

I am a loyal Newbury Comics customer because they continue to offer a great selection of CDs at the best prices. My only gripe is that they don't have enough listening stations, so I go to Tower/Virgin and listen and then buy the CD at Newbury. They also have cool gifts, T-shirts, etc. If you are sick of paying $17.99 for CDs, head over immediately.
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: few listening station

The lowest prices in Boston for new rock and pop CD's...period!
If you're looking for Classical and Jazz then i'm afraid that you'll have to look elsewhere:)

This is by far the best music store in the U.S. It has all sorts of music...and if they don't have what you are looking for they will get it shipped to the store for you...free of charge. In addition, they have funny gifts and collectibles, hard to find music, and a great used CD selection. They are reasonably priced compared to many other major record stores. The staff is into their music...but very nice and willing to help. They will even play a CD over the speakers in the store if you aren't sure about it.
--a wicked good time.
- Pros: many locations, good parking at most, great selection

I like obscure music and they always have what I'm looking for. There's also always someone interesting to look at.
