I'm a transplanted Bostonian looking forward to a visit later this month. I'm hoping to meet a childhood friend while I'm there. When we were both single we used to meet at the Sevens on Sunday afternoons once in a while. So much has changed, I thought, but wouldn't it be cool to meet Carol there again? A quick Google search later I found it! I'm so happy the Sevens is still there! It's the kind of place you don't forget, because in a "concept" restaurant world where bars tend to feel like airport terminals (all alike, that is), the Sevens has a distinct personality. Places like it are hard to find in Phoenix. And, a previous reviewer mention Reubens -- all the better! So, Carol, what do you say?

A friend from Seattle first introduced me to The Sevens. I had recently moved to Beacon Hill from Atlanta and he said "you have to visit The Sevens. It's a landmark in Beacon Hill and one that I will always remember". Having visited pubs and taverns around the globe, I had to check it out. There are not many places that I have frequented that convey the "local" neighborhood flavor as The Sevens. The Sevens is a small, friendly neighborhood tavern where people congregate to meet people. I will always remember my first trip to The Sevens as I received a warm welcome to Beacon Hill from John, Megan and Frank. They soon introduced me to others in Beacon Hill, who have since become good friends. Having come from Atlanta, I must say that The Sevens left a positive impression on me (and Boston!) that I will always remember. The cold/fresh beer, chowder/reuben and warm, welcoming atmosphere is what The Sevens is all about. If you have recently moved to Boston and looking for the "neighborhood" feel and engaging friendships, visit The Sevens. BTW, the beer has always tasted fresh and clean and the food impeccable! :-)

Pros: Friendly, neighborhood tavern. Fresh beer and great food.

Cons: A bit small, however, I like it that way. Parking in Beacon Hill - what can you say! :-)

I had lunch with a friend at The Sevens and we ordered a fairly decent meal and 2 cokes. The drinks tasted like someone defecated in the glass. We asked our waitress (back from smoke break 2) to get us some Sprite. Now, normally an astute server would ask what was wrong with the drinks; nevertheless we got our Sprites and our food. However, to our surprise the Sprite tasted just as bad. We digested as much of the food as we could with no beverage and decided to get the leftovers to go. Our waitress (back from smoke break 3) took our food (without washing her hands) and wrapped our food in cellophane. I lived in Beacon Hill for three years and typically choose “dive” establishments, but this was just too much. I felt (and my friend who tossed her unsanitary food in the trash) that something needed to be said. Please use caution when drinking from the smelly glasses.

Pros: It was a quick meal

Cons: Unkempt staff and unsanitary glasses

The Sevens has a great old school feel that has won over a number of dedicated regulars. If you're looking for a low key hangout to watch a game or play some darts, there is no place better in Boston. The staff may not be accommodating enough for some, but they're real. If you're friendly, they'll treat you right. Any true Bostonian should fit right into the usual crowd and have no problem meeting new people on any given night. The beer and wine selection are above average, and although the menu is limited to pub food, (sandwiches and wraps) the selection and quality is more than passable. The bottom line is: if you're looking for a relaxing night of drinks with friends, or a place to start calling your own, the Sevens would be the place start.

Pros: Drink selection, food, atmosphere

Cons: parking

The Seven's is a great place to have a beer and a sandwich with some friends in a comfortable pub atmosphere. The jukebox plays great classics and "cool" new stuff as well, and if there is a Sox, Bruins, Pats, or Celts game it is on the TV but doesn't take over the bar. The service has always been excellent for me and I can't comprehend the other reviews that knock it. Friendly waitresses and bartenders make every visit a pleasure. Check it out! You'll go back.

Pros: beer selection, great reuben, darts

Cons: parking

I've been to this bar several times and the service is consistently aweful. There is a good selection of beers, but I wouldn't choose to go here on my own. It definitely has that "regulars" feel to it, but there is a difference between not being treated like a regular and being treated out-right rudely. I would not recommend this place.

Pros: beer selection

Cons: rude staff, skeevy old men

I'm new to the neighborhood and was looking for a good, local bar. I went to Seven's four times in two weeks. Not one time did a bartender extend a hand or say 'hello'. What I did get was bad service. When I thought I was charged for one extra beer the bartender replied, "This is an instance when the customer is always wrong." I would have paid for the un-drunk beer, and chalked it up to a mistake. Now, I'll never go back. And to think, the owner was complaining to the 'local' next to me that business has been down the last couple of years. I wonder...hmm... - Go somewhere else. They don't deserve the business.

Pros: Dart board

Cons: Bartenders, Attitude

This is the place to go whether after work or hanging out on the weekends. It's cozy and tends to fill up quickly, so get there early if you want a seat. The food's decent, the beer's good and the service is top notch. You can speak without yelling and you can hear what your friends are saying without straining your eardrums.

Pros: inexpensive, cozy

Cons: beer & wine only
