Do not go here after game nights at the Garden!
by Johnny23
Bartenders and Bouncers are full of themselves after game nights. Actually this is probably the case on the weekend as well.
There is a "no shot" rule after game nights.
After game night they are pretty strict when ordering beer.
Also, I'm not writing this review because I got kicked out, I actually left on my own and went to the Grand Canal after. I spent most of the night there and had a great time having a few drinks and listening to the live band. The bouncers and bartenders didn't give us any trouble.
It's too bad that the Harp has such a good location because there are so many other bars that put this place to shame.
The Harp creates a line to make it look like the place is packed but then you get in, it's wide open. I understand its a good practice to get business but don't do it when its 30 degrees outside.
If you want to have fun check out the Greatest Bar, Grand Canal, Beerworks, or Sully's Tap.
- Pros: Decent club during the weekend.
- Cons: Not enough room here so I'll list the Cons above.
Relaxed North Station watering hole by day, rowdy dance spot by night, all with an Irish brogue.

In Short
Area workers and suburban youngsters head across the street from the Fleet Center to enjoy any one of the Harp's many scenes: quiet lunch spot, popular pre-game watering hole, and raucous late-night dancing destination, just to name a few. Weekend nights usually incorporate a live cover band, while DJs take over the basement dance floor. Lunchtime and early evening crowds sip pints of Guinness and typical pub fare like fish-and-chips.
Nice to see somethings don't change

My first trip to the Harp was about 10 years ago to see NYC Irish rockers Black47 and have gone back several times over the years to see them there.
Over the years I've seen quite a few pubs with live music upstart in a blaze of glory,
go into identity crisis mode (when you find the spot it's a rock club, the next time you go it's a Euro bar, etc...) only to then fizzle out with a whimper a couple of years later.
I can't say enough about how great it is for this sporadic user to find that what I loved about the place years ago, it's still exactlly the same.
Comfortable place, friendly bar service, easy going crowd.
Although I'd love to see more Black47 there, it's close enough to home that I may even stop by more often without them.
- Pros: un-pretentious, friendly , comfortable
- Cons: If game, no parking

Went there before a Bruins game at the New Garden. It looked great when we walked in but when we said we were there to eat, they ushered us downstairs to a bland, dark and very cold room in the basement. It had only a bit more ambiance than the average school cafeteria. The food was okay, in the TGI Friday's tradition, but the beer came in plastic cups (my god why?!?). The service started out fine but it took a while to flag down someone for the check then forever for someone else to ring us out. I hope it's better as a bar.
- Pros: price, location
- Cons: bad heating, slow service

Recently had dinner at this establishment. Waitress was very slow in service and never even asked us for dessert. She just handed us our check. No water either was even offered.
- Pros: food
- Cons: service
Bouncer Brain Trust
by dockersmith1243
The bouncers are beyond stupid, and the place smells, beyond that I am not sure what else to say. The best part of the trip to the Harp was ridiculing the bouncers about their jack$ss $5 hr jobs while they debated whether when I was worth assaulting, like their lives are worth anything.
- Pros: Bad Smell
- Cons: Bad Smell
Try anything at least once

Spent last Saturday night at the Harp and it was quite interesting. The $10 cover was a bit painful but the live band was great and the drinks were reasonably priced for the area. The downstairs was for the bump and grind scene, and there was certainly a lot of that! It got very crowded around 12 but everyone was pretty well behaved. The one problem was the floor, it was so sticky that my shoes kept getting stuck and it was hard to dance. And the DJ started played too many 80s songs. A few are good mixed in through out the night but not whole sets! Upstairs was also fun, the live band was great and did pretty good John Mayer covers. My reccomendation is to go with friends and park at Haymarket.
- Pros: Two floors, Spacious, Excellent music
- Cons: $10 cover, Sticky floor, Pushy bouncers
Great!! That's in a name!!!!!

The Harp was packed shortly after 10:00. The place had something for everyone! The Band upstairs was exceptional and the lower level provided a fun atmosphere. The DJ downstairs was entertaining offering patrons funny "Hello, my name is" nametags and a selection of beads and lais. The eclectic mix of new dance, classic hip hop and fun 80's music made this place a blast. I plan on going back for more fun! Oh yea! There were plenty of girls partying at the Harp. If this place is a meat market, I want to be Sam the butcher!
- Pros: busy, fun, great entertainment
