Don't sit without getting your food

by CSMobileUser

Food was very good. Bus boys were rude and raised their voices to you. We were told that you must order before sitting down. Well we did just that, then I got yelled at by a bus boy. Literally yelled at. Will not go back!!

Can't wait to go back

by Trevorlandon

What a GREAT date place! My girlfriend and I were walking down Charles Street and was recommended The Paramount by a couple who just left when we were looking at the menu outside. We were told a 20-30 minute wait and were seating in 15 minutes. What a great start. The service was right on and it was a smaller place but quite cozy. We ordered a bottle of wine, an app. and two salmon specials. EVERYTHING was fantastic and will be going back for date night VERY soon.

  • Pros: Service, food, quality, value, atmosphere
  • Cons: A bit small

great breakfast spot

by annieM

I always reccomend The Paramount to anyone in from out of town. located in Boston's historic Beacon Hill, the cafeteria style locale is always right on target with classic breakfast fair to satisfy both a savory and sweet pallet. The line is generally out he door on the weekends, but it's well worth the wait !

best pancakes ever

by ashleymichelle1

This place was one of my favorite brunch spots on the weekends. Apparently it's everyone else's too because there's always a wait. Well worth it for the food though. The inside is a bit cramped and crowded but it still has a certain beacon hill charm that can't be replicated.

  • Pros: adorable place, great food, inexpensive
  • Cons: long lines for brunch on the weekends

good food, great service

by pappoupappou

I've been going to the paramount for some time now. I usually go every Sunday for breakfast. This place is the best breakfast place in town! this time my parents visiting me so i decided to take them for dinner, The food is terrific; fills you up just right. The service is great too. I must say thank you to our waitress very friendly and courteous and the best. If your served by mischa, you are very fortunate.

Discriminated service

by nyteout

I brought my parents to The Paramount while we were visiting Boston. However, we received a discriminated treatment. While many customers sat at tables waiting for their husband/father/son to order at the kitchen, my parent, who speak little English, were prohibited to even stand at the dinning area when I was waiting in line to place order.

The ordering area was so small that I blocked the lady?s room door where a woman was trying to get out while I was trying to get out of the way of a staff pushing a cart full of dirty dishes.

  • Cons: Tiny ordering area / discrimination

Nice, but lacking imagination.

by BernardosMom

The place is cute, clean and the system is unique. You walk in, order, watch your breakfast being made and then seat yourself.

The omlettes are 2 egg -- which I appreciate, I don't need a ton of food, but the options were really standard, cheese, Spanish, Western.

I am not a bread eater but I will say the pancakes and french toast looked really good. Lots of regulars. Good price. I would have been disappointed if we'd waited in a long weekend line.

  • Pros: you see your food get cooked
  • Cons: limited menu, standard options

Decent at Best

by deliciousmints

After waiting to try this infamous spot out, I finally braved the long lines to have some deliciously appetizing looking brunch. My party of 5 waited for 30 mins to put in our orders in the cafeteria-style joint, where we watched our food being cooked fresh to order. The place was packed when we walked in, and packed even as we ordered our food. We were there during the peak hours of brunch so it was beyond crowded. Because of their unusual seating policy, patrons are required to have their food in hand before grabbing any seats. So while we waited in the 30 min line to order our food, people were shuffling in and out of the seats and we were miraculously able to find seating for 5 by the time we had our food on our trays! As we were nearing the end of our meals (we ordered a variety of food, ranging from greasy over easy eggs and homefries with toast and coffee to buttery blueberry pancakes with sausage and even oily omelets and fruit), the waitstaff began hovering over our seats. They cleared our plates once we took what they thought was our last bites- I still had a few homefries on my plate, which I was intending on eating. They waited to clear our last friend's plate, as he was still poking away at the pieces of fruit. They eventually took his plate too, without realizing that he was planning on finishing his cup of coffee. He was nice enough to say it was okay that they were taking his plate, but to please wait as he finished his coffee. Once he drank his last sip, the waitstaff grabbed his cup and in a few short words told us to hurry and leave because they had people who were waiting for seating for 5 minutes. WOW. What a way to tell people to scarf their food down and get out. They certainly did target those whom they wanted out of their restaurant- there was an older couple who had gotten seating before we even ordered who continued to sit leisurely and sip on their waters.

Food: average and greasy. Price: affordable. Service: questionable.

  • Pros: Decently priced brunch and breakfast in the Beacon Hill area
  • Cons: Awkward seating policy, greasy food, service

Cheap, tasty eats

by justme28

The Paramount is kind of an unusual place. You go up and order first, move down the line to pay and get a drink, get your food, and then sit down. There is a huge sign on the wall that asks customers not to reserve seats while the rest of your party is ordering. You sit down after you get your food. I haven't had a problem getting a seat. I've also never felt rushed eating there, though it's definitely not a place to sit, drink coffee, read the paper and hang out for an hour. I'd say the staff aren't particularly friendly but they are courteous. I've only been there for breakfast and the food seems pretty good. I'd rate the french toast as good but not fantastic. (I am a french toast fanatic though.) My fiance said that the omelet he had was one of the best he's ever tasted.

  • Pros: Food, fast service, quirky

You might want to go to the McDonalds drive-thru if you?re looking for a comparable experience

by Soxgirl78

Don't go to this restaurant unless your entire party is there and ready to eat and get out of there quickly. I met some friends after work and some other friends were on their way so we got a larger table. We got glares from the entire staff (including the manager) while we waited for the rest of our friends. We were constantly badgered by the waitress as to when our friends would be arriving (and she ignored us when we wanted to order because the rest of our party was not there). When our other friends finally arrived the waitress told us we needed to leave soon because "her manager was getting angry." The food was excellent; too bad I'll never go there again because I prefer not to be harassed when I dine out!

  • Pros: Great location, great atmosphere, amazing food
  • Cons: Horrible Customer Service, very small dining area
