Has Potential...but has a few flaws. The pizza itself is pretty good. Good crust, nice blend of cheeses, and respectable sauce. That being said, I would probably avoid the "slices" from now on. The pies are left out (pretty dried out). Even with a reheating, it doesn't really do the pizza justice. The slices are twice the price...but you get double the pizza (so keep that in mind when you order). The place is small...I mean really small. If you blink as you walk by, you'll probably miss it. A few tables are available but during lunchtime...don't expect to sit. My other complaint is the place is grimey. I mean really grimey. The last time is was cleaned was probably when the original Ernesto (as framed in the picture near the counter) ran the joint. It doesn't give you that warm fuzzy feeling when you're ordering pizza. Anyway, if you go to Ernesto's, I would recommend you order a whole pie (or slices that just came out of the oven). Otherwise, I would pass on the cold, reheated slices.

Delicious pizza for cheap!. I live in the North End and eat at Ernestoa's at least twice a week. Their pizza is scrumptious and for less than $5.00 you get a slice, which is a 1/4 a pie. (Essentially it's two slices in one). The selections change daily but there's always plenty of choices. I've also had their calzones, which are delicious and affordable. The place is tiny and sometimes the line for pizza is out the door, but it's worth the wait. It's got a neighbrhood feel to it and the people behind the counter are always more than willing to help you figure out the pizza selections. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone in the area or planning to visit the North End.

Best Pizza in Boston. Super friendly staff.. My brother took me to Ernestos while I was vacationing in Boston and I loved it!! The pizza was probably the best I've had and the staff was super friendly. It is a cozy little pizza place, with th ebest home made style pizzas, it really felt like i was walking into my own family's restaurant.

Best Boston Pizza place. No question about it.. As a self proclaimed pizza aficionado (and proud owner of a half sleeve pizza tattoo), I will say that this is not only the best pizza in Boston, but some of the best in the country. I will say that I agree about the slices being sub-par... They offer so many varieties of slices, that they tend to sit out for a long time. You can't truly judge any pizza place until you've gotten a whole fresh pie. I suggest ordering a cheese pizza with extra sauce. If you aren't into that, stick to dominos.

Awful calzones!. I went to Ernesto's on the strength of CitySearch's recommendation. I didn't try the famous pizza, in the mood instead for a calzone. I was incredibly disappointed. The calzone was greasy and runny, and the cheese hard instead of smooth. And I was given no marinara sauce for dipping. I wish I'd stayed home.

Change Name from Ernesto's to El Crappo's. Someone actually questioned why this place didn't make Boston's top 10 pizza places? Get real! Yeah, it's cheap all right. But who wants pre-cooked pizza that they actually re-heat in a microwave to serve? If you like cheap, tasteless, reheated, crap...you just found heaven. Positive ratings are probably from those who still think The Hilltop is a great steakhouse. (which it WAS 25 years ago under different ownership.) Best pizza in Boston?? What a hoot!!

NOTHING BETTER. I live in Texas and every year when I travel to Boston I make it a point to eat at Ernesto's at least three to four times a week. Best pizza anywhere.

Best in the North End and anywhere else. As a teenager living in the 'burbs of Boston friends and I took the T into the North End to find the "best pizza in Boston." We went unsatisfied until I ask and older Italian local on the street and he sent us to Georgio's...which later became Ernesto's. I moved to California for 4 years and when I came home to visit my parents would offer to take me out to dinner wherever I wanted but the answer was always the same...Ernesto's. My mom would even have them par cook pizzas and ship them out "overnight" so I could share the famous pizza I always bragged about with my friends there! As an adult living in the North End for 6 years I tried others but I still say Ernesto's always was and always will be the best in Boston...and anywhere else!

Best Pizza in the North End. They have a fantastic selection of freshly made pizza, and the serving size is 2 slices, enough for a meal - well, almost. It's a great place to stop before heading over to Faneuil Marketplace.
