it really is an institution

yup, the pizza's amazing and it's worth the wait. though IMO, no pizza's worth waiting an hour outside in the cold for.
Walk in with no expectations and you will not be dissapointed

You should not drive here, it's an easy walk from the T. Walking through the narrow streets, overhearing conversations in Italian while passing mob ex- safehouses documented in biographies adds a measure of enchantment. The resteraunt, however, was horrible. Our party of 13 waited for nearly 30 minutes on the sidewalk for seating on a Monday night. Upon entrance I was shocked at the cleanliness of the place(or lack thereof). I was reminded of a racetrack at the end of a day. The pizza was OK, but not worth what we went through. Beer was going for $15.00 a pitcher and my 15 year old son was asked to serve a table in a corner because the waitress did not want to navigate the narrow space. They serve pizza only, literally. They didn't even have salad, it's not offered on the menu. I will not revisit this establishment.
For Pizza Aficionados!

The lines go out the door on weekends...even in the wintertime!! Service is OK but hurried. It's crowded, it's noisy, it's still the best damn pizza around!!!! Kids love it! Great place before your event at the Fleet Center. Allow plenty of time.
- Pros: Pizza, Inexpensive
- Cons: Parking, Crowded, Noisy
Good food, bad taste
by bretami at Citysearch
The pizza from Regina's was pretty good - quality crust and ingredients that I would recommend again (and I'm a Chicago pizza fanatic). We went for lunch on a weekday with no wait, but if I had to wait for this, I would definitely look elsewhere. I don't think I've ever been afraid to ask a waitress for a refill, or if I could get extra napkins. She was terribly rude and slow . . . not good practice to "bite the hand that feeds you".
- Pros: Decent pizza, Historic Area
- Cons: Crowded, Small, Rude Waitstaff
New York Style but Locals Rule
by edithdoll at Citysearch
Regina still makes a mean, thin crust NY style pizza. I took a veggie friend here, and she loved it, so it has adapted to the times. It was a busy night and local residents in curlers were served first, before us but that's neighborhood tradition/loyalty. I love the old style tables and the clatter of the place. Despite the crowd, the turnover was quick during the week. Not for you if you want upscale, trendy, etc. and remember the locals will definitely be seated first!
- Pros: New York Style Pizza, Neighborhood, Unpretentious
- Cons: Parking problems, Tourist attraction
Compromised Quality
by MGFerraro at Citysearch
Historically speaking, Pizzeria Regina was reknowned in New England -- before it hit the malls in the '70's. Perhaps, due to the passing of the original owner and/or inimitable waitresses of old, this once unique establishment has lost a lot of its former color & flavor. Although the pizza is still quite good, the original recipe must have been either too costly or labor-intensive: no more made-from-scratch. When enntertaining tourists, however, it's still top-of-the-list for Boston.
C'mon, biggest name hardly the best!!
by petegreendc at Citysearch
Reginas is certainly decent pizza, though hardly Boston's best. Town Spa and Lynwood deserve to be at the top of this list, hands down, but I suspect that these smaller market, non-cosmopolitan family pizza restaurants don't have a chance on this seemingly yuppy orientated list.
