East Ocean City was highly recommended. So we were expecting enjoyable Chinese dining. Sadly, no. Better Chinese food can be found at the food court of any mall. The service too, was spotty at best. Five of us ordered hot and sour soup, which arrived soon. The one who ordered won ton, was left waiting, served well after the others had finished theirs. Entrees too, arrived haphazardly. The first 3 arriving together, a wait, the 4th, a wait, the 5th, then about 5 minutes more, the last person who had ordered chicken and broccoli was presented beef and broccoli. When this discrepancy was noted, the waiter actually asked, "Well, wouldn't you like beef and broccoli?" "No" was the reply, "I ordered chicken." It took about 10 more minutes for the correct meal to arrive. The jumbo shrimps with mixed vegetable & black bean sauce was just acceptable. The General Gau's chicken, was by far the worst any of us had ever tasted, bland, overcooked and dry. When asked if we wanted to take the leftovers home, I for one, had to bite my checks to keep from laughing. Our waiter never checked to ask how everything was. When asked for water, each glass was forcefully placed before us! The kicker came as we stepped out of the restaurant. Someone came running after us exclaiming we hadn't left a tip! I explained it clearly stated on the menu that for party's of six or more, a 15% gratuity is added to the bill. Since we were a party of six and because the only itemized check we received was the first one in Chinese, which was not returned with the credit card slips, we assumed the 15% had been added. After explaining this three times, we simply turned around and walked away. In light of it all, I fully expected the fortune in my cookie to read: "I peed in your rice."

Seafood so impeccably fresh, diners can literally watch it travel via rubber bucket from fish tank to wok.  See the full editorial review.
