good selection

The selection is very good and the customer service is friendly.

I did not get anything there because the prices for rental were high. But other than that, they are not bad.

very unorganized

by shawnshawn at Citysearch

I walked into the store looking for a costume piece that I saw on their website. The one guy behind the counter was busy with other customers, so he told me to look at the costumes and wait. After about 10 minutes of boredom, and playing with costume accessories, he couldn't help me find the piece that was on the website. On top of that, he told me the inventory and the website probably do not match up. I went online and called the store with the code, they couldn't tell me if they had it or not. System is not well organized, and the pieces they had were either cheesy or overpriced, and sometimes both.

The guy was nice, but they need to get more people working there.

This shop takes costuming as seriously as Boston takes baseball.

The Scene
Die-hard Halloween enthusiasts will revel in the variety of costumes available at this boutique. You don't even have to arrive with an idea--just browse through Boston Costume's rental books, from masquerade to medieval, to creatures from space. Enormous fuzzy parade heads, like elephants and Tweety birds and Vegas-style headpieces border the walls--these are also rentable as complete outfits. The average rental fee is $85 and the store is flexible with time periods. Just pick up the costume a couple of days before you need it and return it promptly.

The Goods
Besides costumes, the store also carries a plethora of accessories: ripping and bleeding masks, extra-large mouse ears, grave-digger spades, jeweled daggers, bunny tails, grass skirts, gory body parts, black hairy hands.

Obscenely overpriced and cheesy.. u can find all of this stuff at a mall shop like spencers

by lahouze at Citysearch

I walked in to some tacky girl jumping up and down in the window to terrible music.

They do not welcome you with drinks, etc as the previous review stated. In fact, I walked in from the pouring rain and was told to leave my coffee outside.. even though it had a lid.

If you are carry a purse, they make you check it at the counter! .. ridiculous! As if I want someone else with my purse.

Do yourself a favor and GO TO the Garment District in Cambridge... Great deals, original stuff for costumes, etc.

any costume you need!

by tennisevl at Citysearch

i was in boston costume today and not only did they have a wide variety of costumes, they had everything in fact, but also the folks there were serving cookies and muffins to everyone walking in the door. its a bit expensive though, so be willing to pay a lot for the costume.

  • Pros: friendly staff, tons of costumes, knowledgable staff
  • Cons: expensive, crowded
