Cushy couches and imaginative martinis make for a homey lounge, one that is (mostly) lacking in pretension.

Horrific Service!!!

by auberm

My boyfriend and I went here yesterday and had a really BAD experience. We went in on a Sunday around 3 with plans to lounge on the couches, enjoy some food, booze a bit and study on our laptops. Our first round of drinks came out after about 10 minutes, even with only 2 other tables in the whole place filled, and the calamari we ordered was decent. My boyfriend then ordered a 2nd drink. The main issue began when our entrees came. We felt as though the cobb salad that my boyfriend had ordered wasn’t what he had intended it to be. For an almost $15 salad, there were oiled leaves surrounded by a few pieces of avocado on one side, some slices of bacon on the other, and a few slices of chicken that did NOT look good. By ‘not good’ I’m talking over-cooked dried out meat. My lean cuisine frozen lunches have better looking chicken than that. We were uncomfortable returning it (which we even told the waitress apologetically), but it was an unimpressive, unhappy looking salad and we didn’t want to eat it. After we sent it back, the waitress brought it over to the bartender who began shooting us some rather unfriendly looks. No one came back to offer something alternative on the menu, or ask us any further about our issue. ALSO, we still hadn’t gotten the drink my boyfriend ordered over 20 minutes before. I had finished my meal when that drink finally came, WHICH we had watched as the bartender took the shaker he was making it with away from the bar and back into a separate room. (I don’t want to sound paranoid, but how would you feel if you were being made uncomfortable by the staff then they go off to ‘prepare’ your drink in another room?!) My boyfriend thought it was a safer bet to not take a risk on the drink, but was going to pay for it none the less. Then our bill came, with the salad still on it… Yep. When asking to speak with a manager we got, you guessed it, THE BARTENDER! Apparently he’s the owner’s son. He arrogantly argued for over 10 minutes that in his opinion, there was nothing wrong with the salad. He told us he didn’t care what my boyfriend’s reasons were for sending it back, that it wasn’t his problem. He then finished by saying there was no one else to talk to there, and if we didn’t pay he would call the cops. We were pretty much in shock. It’s not like we ate half of it then decided “nevermind”. We didn’t like the items, we sent it back right away and no staff approached us with any questions or alternative choices It’s really crummy that manager is such a cocky a**hole. Maybe instead of sitting at the bar hitting on the hung over girls ordering bloody marys, he could focus a little effort on the service to his other customers. We’re not going back and we’re spreading the word, because HEAVEN FORBID you are unhappy with the food they prepare for you. You’ll be sh*t out of luck.

GREEEEAT!

by Speeder1213

I have been to this restaurant many times and it just keeps getting better! The food is outstanding and fair priced and the drinks are great as well! Every time I go here my girlfriend and I have an AMAZING dinner and drinks, followed by some great dessert! To top off the night we head across the street from the restaurant and have a wonderful walk along the water with great views! Overall I would rate the living room a 5+! I recommend it to everyone who wants a great night with someone special!

Bar - Masquerading as a Restaurant (Badly)

by cmj0919

I was looking for a nice, but not stuffy, restaurant for brunch - this seemed to fit the bill. Not even close. They call themselves 'homey', the word 'slovenly' is more appropriate. The food was mediocre at best, the coffee the worst I've ever had, cream was served in an espresso cup - and it wasn't cream, but milk. Just really, really bad if you're looking for decent food and service.

  • Pros: none with regard to Sunday Brunch, seems like it could be a good bar scene
  • Cons: terrible food, slovenly wait staff, undrinkable coffee.

Charity Function

by rtfoster

Every year I do the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. A few months back I decided to organize a wine tasting party that would include an auction to raise money for the cause. I chose The Living Room as the location because it's proximity to the financial distric for the after work crowd. The managment was extremely helpful with all the organizing and the staff went above and beyond to help make sure the night was successful. Some of the staff even made donations themselves. The food was yummy, the wine was flowing, and the night was a HUGE success!!!! At the end of the night when I went to settle my tab for the party I was pleasantly surprised to find my bill far less than I expected, the owner had arranged for a portion of the bill to be taken care of. His donation made a big difference so that the cost wouldn't cut in to our profits. I will definitely be using them again next year for our second anual wine tasting night!!!!

  • Pros: Great staff

Worst Dining Experience of my Entire Life

by marmar384

Unfortunately, my friends and I decided to spend New Years Eve at The Living Room. After paying over $200 for entrance, mediocre food and one glass of champagne, an EMPLOYEE (bartender) of this establishment actually screamed obscenities at my party. Why? Because we asked her to shut the door while we waited in line for the ladies room. She was holding the door open, letting in frigid air so that she and her friends could smoke cigarettes and m*rijuana (it won't let me type the real word). While working.

After being called every name under the sun, I notified a hostess who did nothing about it. When I went to order a drink, the bartender scowled, whispered and pointed at us. When I emailed the manager the next day, he promised a prompt resolution. 29 days later, he finally emailed to say that nothing would be done. NOTHING.

I am not expecting a lot but really? When I drop a decent amount of money I expect yummy food and a fun time. Not bland, boring food and to be screamed at in public.

THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. It is a waste of your money for horrible service, no parking, mediocre food and overpriced drinks.

STAY AWAY!

Very Poor Experience

by Destinedway

Manager and Owner are the rudest people ever. I would highly suggest not going here. I took colleagues here once and was mortified after we received poor service with the GM ratifying the staff?s inappropriate actions.

Excellent private party venue

by Nepatriots12

I just had an engagement party at the livingroom. The reserved area with couches and high top tables was perfect with plenty on space. The drinks were reasonably priced and the service was excellent. The appetizers served could have been better. I would highly recommend the livingroom. The prices, service, and ambiance were good.

  • Pros: Excellent service, great lounge
  • Cons: Food could have been better, Parking

best chicken sandwich in the city

by Celts

the grilled chicken panini is the best chicken sandwich i have ever had. It comes with proscuito, sun dried tomato, fresh mozzarella, and pesto mayo on focaccia bread. I dont even like mayo but this is good. The atmosphere is nice as well, the couches are very comfortable. I havent been at night yet but from what I hear it is a great place to hang out. If you go try the chicken sandwich.

  • Pros: chicken sandwhich, couches, service
  • Cons: parking inthe area can be tough, but worth it.

great experience

by bosox55

I went to LivingRoom last night and had a blast. My girlfriend had dinner there last night to beat the Valentines Day rush. She had some "chick" martini, i didn't try but she liked it enough to order another. The food and service were both outstanding. For the most part the waitress left us alone but checked in often enough to meet our needs. This is the type of place that my girlfriend and I could visit again or my buddies and I could vist and have an equally good time. I highly recommend Livingroom to anyone 21-40 looking to have a good time and good food.

  • Pros: Food, service, atmosphere
