I went to see Robert Kelly last night at The Comedy Connection at The Wilbur Theater. I thought they must have turned it into a club but it is just another theater and not the way to enjoy Kelly . I have loved him for years and seen him for many years. I use to see him with Dane Cook at The Vault years ago and have enjoyed him every time. He was great everytime but not last night. He was supper but the place isn't right for comedy. I will try again but I don't thinks so.

I went to Comedy Connection last night and was very frustrated when the heat was obviously not turned on inside. The temperature outside was below zero with the wind chill factor and the club itself was frigid. There was a very small audience there, many of whom kept on their winter jackets throughout the show. Even some of the comics performed in their coats. At a place where you need to buy at least two expensive drinks to stay, I would have expected at the very least a comfortable sitting atmosphere.

Furthermore, the comics themselves were mostly mediocre and our waitress' demeanor matched the temperature perfectly. An underwhelming experience.

  • Pros: Location
  • Cons: Very cold, drink requirements

This was such a waste of money!! It is like $28 for an hour show! They pack you in the place like sardines--you have no room. The service is slow and the drinks watered down. Some people don't even get tables! It was cold inside as well. There were only 2 comics. The headliner wasn't even funny--he was vulgar and not in a good way--I don't mind swearing etc., but toliet humor is not amusing. I didn't need to hear about this guy's bowl movements at a Target. I felt like I spent a lot of money for very average humor. I laughed more at an amateur night at a different place. Go to Kowloon--it is cheaper, warmer, you have a table and there are always 3 comics.

  • Pros: Can't find one
  • Cons: too expensive, poor drink quality, too crowded, not funny!

I have been there 4 different times and it was never funny or special. I was told Steve Sweeney was Mr. Boston Comedy but I saw him a year ago and the show was the same. Does he ever change his act at all. The opening act was funny. The service was terrible and everything was too expensive. I will never be back. KM

  • Pros: My date was cute.
  • Cons: Steve Sweeney and the service

I have lived two blocks away for two years and FINALLY got there. Having read the other reviews on city search I went in with low expectations all around, but had a GREAT night. It was a quiet Wednesday with maybe 30 people in the crowd, but they put up five comics and, best of all, the MC Harrison who had the limited audience dying. Of the 6 acts, one bombed, three were very funny, and two just killed getting the small crowd very fired up. The food is terrible, as is the service, but the drinks are fine and I would imagine a healthy tip early in the night would keep the waitress checking on you. Go with $15 and a good attitude and you will have really good time.

  • Pros: Good acts, Cheap
  • Cons: Bad Food, Bad Service, Small Crowd

The Scene
Located on the second floor of the Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the Connection occupies a huge, rectangular space (there's waitress service for drinks and appetizers) and feels more like a fancy high-school auditorium than a nightclub. Though the Connection draws its share of locals, it also loops in the tourist crowd by booking familiar faces from television sitcoms and movies.

Comedy Connection is one of the favorite places to go to in Boston. Its located right in Fanual Hall and is easily accessible through the T. They always have good comedians (including locals such as DANE COOK!!!) and they have pretty good food there for a comedy club. Definitely recommended for a good time, great place to bring a date!

The comedy connection is a small place. The tables are to close together. It makes the place uncomfortable because you feel like you can not get up and go to the bathroom because you are going to have to climb over 50 people. The waitresses are very nice, but they are everywhere. Not only can you not get around people, but then you have a waitress with 50 drinks on her tray comming straight for you. They always host a wide variety of comics. They have new and up comming comics as well as very famous comics playing throughout the weekends. The drinks are very exspenisve as well.
