Where do you wanna go??-- Clarke's!!!

by wensel at Citysearch

Every year we go on a business trip and the first stop for drinks is none other than Clarke's. I don't know why it's getting all these bad reviews. I would think that the 1 and 2 star ratings are coming from those people who go to a bar and sit in a corner and sulk about how much their life stinks and why they can't meet people. My business partner and myself destroyed this bar the first time we were there- lots of good lookin girls to work on. The second time around was just as fun, although the girl I was hitting on was a little on the thick side. I highly recommend this bar for those who like to have a good time and more importantly know how to have a good time. 2008 annual business trip first stop-- Clarke's!!!

  • Pros: Good ratio of girls to guys
  • Cons: Closes at 2, needs to stay open to 4

Clarke's: My favorite local after-work hang out.

by lizziex47 at Citysearch

It's almost guaranteed I'll have a good time at Clarke's - it's easily my favorite hang out in Boston. Maybe I'm biased because I have so many awesome memories, but I definitely highly recommend going! Esp. for after work social gatherings.

  • Pros: cheap miller lites, good atmosphere , AWESOME music
  • Cons: crowded (con?)

Go Somewhere Else

by jrchan20 at Citysearch

I have tried having fun at this bar twice now and both times I have been let down...big time...I see this as a good bar to go to after work or for eats but if you are looking for a place to go for the night in Fanueil go somewhere else! The bouncers had some sort of power trip both times I've been there. I really cannot stand this bar - and most times it can be just me that feels this way, but out of all of my friends - no one wants to go back here...

  • Pros: Average Priced Beers, big bar
  • Cons: Lines Bet. Rooms, Hot Headed Bouncers, not enough space

Horrible service

by postulantbooty at Citysearch

I was @ Clarke's on a Friday for a small, after-work function. We were the ideal customers: thirsty, hungry & on a corporate account. The bartenders foolishly treated us horribly. They blatantly ignored us. They would literally look at us & turn their backs. If we got their attention, they walked over to us then serve the people next to us! When they actually did serve us, it was as if we were inconviencing them. It was unbelievable. I've never experienced such rude behavior. I'm supposed to tip these people? Tipping isn't mandatory. Such incredibly rude behavior / bad service should'nt be rewarded. We were there for several hours, ordered food & plenty of drinks. Our tab spoke volumes. Instead of checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed, the staff chose to ignore us & as a result got a $0 tip. They earned it.

  • Cons: Bartenders, service, attitude

OVERRATED!!!!

by mbingoldsby at Citysearch

Shockingly pretentious for one of the "casual" bars in Faneuil Hall. Dress policy shifts on a nearly hourly basis. The bouncers are directly from central casting for "Jerk Bouncer", i.e. shaved head, big muscles, single syllable vocabulary and, of course, the ubiquitous "sport jacket over Armani Exchange T-shirt" uniform. Wait/bar staff is also just as capable of snobbery. The bartenders think they are the Tom Cruise charachter from "Cocktail". If you expect to get served at the bar in less that 35 minutes, bring an attractive girl with you and have her get the drinks. And a word about the waitresses. Ladies, don't even bother trying to get one's attention. And guys, unless you have the keys to your Range Rover pinned to your lapel, or a suede jacket with "My Other BMW is a BMW" embroidered in 30 carats worth of diamonds, you ain't getting noticed either.

  • Pros: Close to work, Inexplicably Popular, Younger Crowd
  • Cons: Pretentious Staff, Poor Value for Money, Full of Jerk Customer

Terrible Staff

by soxfan38 at Citysearch

I was there with some friends and a staff member moved a table to right where I was standing. After he left, I moved the table about 2 feet and he threw me out.

Bottom Line: DON'T GO

RUDE WAITRESS

by qwe123 at Citysearch

I will never step foot into this bar again. The waitress was so rude to us. We had bought some drinks at the bar and sat down at a table. The waitress came by and asked us if we wanted drinks. We said we were all set. She came back again 10-15 minutes later and asked us if we wanted more drinks. We said no because we were about finishing up our last round of drinks before we headed over to another bar. The rude waitress said, "if you don't drink, you need to stand!!!" I was shocked. I agree with the other review...this place is a dump w/ crappy service.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: bad service, rude waitress

Popular Quincy Market "meet market" offers patrons a low-key spot to unwind, plus plenty of food and drink options.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
Financial District thirty-somethings fill Clarke's dimly-lit pair of rooms to watch sports and chat up members of the opposite sex. Top-40 tunes fill the air, and patrons never have to go far for a drink (there are bars in both rooms). A lengthy drink list includes plenty of beer options, and the peckish enjoy plates of bar food and fried appetizers. Most weekend nights see long lines to get in.

by cmack22 at Citysearch

Great music, alot of fun. Great looking, friendly staff. Lots of hot girls in their early 20's. Second room is a blast, once your in there, stay. New fire codes suck. Drinks are strong @ a good pirce. Awesome place to go and kick back for the night.

  • Pros: great value for drink, good looking staff, hot girls
  • Cons: fire codes control, control room pop
