Thanks to the success of the TV show "Cheers," this watering hole has become one of Boston's most-visited tourist attractions.
by Contributor
In Short
The facade found fame on the legendary sitcom "Cheers," and the real-life "Norms" fled. Inside, puzzled tourists find a different bar, a souvenir shop and a very crowded back-room pub. The food menu contains all the expected appetizers (nachos, chicken fingers, buffalo wings) as well as burgers, sandwiches and pastas. Standard desserts are named for the cast.

Definitely the best burger I have ever eaten! Obviously being British my vote doesn't say so much. But I was pretty glad to see that I am not the only one who rated this place so highly.

Touristy!!
by shelly76
Went for a few drinks and a quick bite. Had the chicken fingers and beef barley soup. The soup was very bland and watery, and the chicken fingers had a strange taste to them. The food was not that great at all. Nice pub atmosphere and the staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions of where to go in the area. Had to check it out though-it's Cheers!!
- Pros: Friendly staff, Pub atmosphere
- Cons: , Overpriced
Pub Classic
by jsledeen
Even with all the tourists, they still serve a great burger, the steak and cheese sub is HUGE, the chowder is Boston classic - and it has a great atmosphere. I love the pub feel - truly authentic, even after Hollywood copied it.
- Pros: great food, pub atmosphere
- Cons: tourists
What a Blast!!!

We finally got a chance while in Boston to visit the original Cheers and had a ball! Yeah, the place was crowded, but what good place isn't. The service was great and our bartender was very entertaining. The menu was your basic pub fare but very good. If you go to Boston, Cheers should be on your must see list.
- Pros: staff, Guinness
3 Cheers for Cheers
by Cheers_girl315
I was so excited when my friend and I visited Boston this summer. A great fan of Cheers, I was so wired to finally visit the place that gave inspiration for my favorite show. Sure, it was a little crowded, but the people were so nice, and my high hopes were fulfilled. I loved seeing the memoribilia on the walls, and I emptied my wallet in the gift store. All in all I was one satisfied customer.
- Pros: great service, memoribilia, gift shop
- Cons: a little crowded
Fantastic Bloody Mary!
by Woof33
I had lunch at this spot on a recent trip to Boston with my wife. Portions were a good size, food was above average, service was fine, nothing really spectactual about the place... except for their bloody mary. They were so good, I had three of them.
- Pros: Bloody Mary, Food
This is the original

Don't get confused when you walk in and it doesn't look like what you've seen on tv. This is the bar the show was based on, originally called the Bull and Finch Pub. You can see some similarities but the most obvious difference is the size. Very busy and fairly crowded with not much in the way of elbow room but definitely a must see if you're in the area.
- Pros: location
- Cons: crowded
