best of boston: excellent service, great for engagement/wedding rings

I can't recommend this Joseph Gann Jeweler enough. On a recent hunt for an engagement ring I visited a number of places and was disappointed by what I found, especially in terms of the customer service and the selection. I had heard about the Jewelry Exchange and decided to wander in to one of the jewelers. On my first foray, I met Joshua Gann and he patienty instructed me on the finer details of diamonds and showed me a few rings. Over the next few months, as I honed my searched, Joshua offered more and more detail on diamonds and rings with earnesty and honesty. The ring I bought was perfect and the experience was so terrific that my fiancee and I returned to buy our weddings bands there. Joseph Gann Jewelers is a family-run business and that feeling carries over into their interaction with customers and the sense of fairness that acccompanies information and prices. If you read this before you begin your search or as you are about to head to the exchance, I urge you to go here first.

Amazing service - even on smaller purchases

I went to Joseph Gann looking for a citrine ring for under $700. Citrine is not an expensive stone, so several other jewelers I visited had shown me their in stock selection and stopped there. At Joseph Gann, Matthew spent an hour going through catalogs of settings with me to find exactly what I wanted. When the band I wanted didn't come with the setting I wanted he had the manufacturer combine two rings just for me. The level of service I received for such a relatively small purchase was remarkable, and my custom ring is absolutely gorgeous! The accent diamonds have incredible sparkle when many jewelers would have used lower quality stones. Matthew was extremely patient and helpful throughout the entire process. I never would have thought I could have a custom piece of jewelery within my budget. What a wonderful discovery! Of course such wonderful customer service is smart business: I will definitely go back, I've recommended my friends, and I told my boyfriend that Matthew is the man to see for a certain jewelry purchase down the road! A+ all the way!

Honest jewels from honest people - the best

I have known the Gann's for two or three decades now. Nearly all my jewelry purchases have been from a Gann. I cannot praise them highly enough. They are business-like, but they are also kind, concerned and personable. Most of all, they are honest to a fault. There is no hype - no push - no manipulation. They will not tell you a stone is good when it's just alright - they tell you the truth in a low-key atmosphere and let you make your own decisions. If you want advice, they have endless (and usually quite good) ideas; if you just want to sit with some choices, that's ok too. They are professionals in the best (old-fashioned) sense of that word. When you walk out of a mall store, you never quite know just what you got - when you walk out of Gann's, you know you got the best you could afford at a good, fair price. You know you can depend on the quality. If the love of your life, doesn't like what you've bought, Gann's will work with you - they will design special pieces, and their repair work is first-rate. I know - I have availed myself of all of these services. When you're buying jewelry, in the end what you are actually buying is the honesty and decency of the salespeople. You cannot choose better than Herb, Rita, Josh and the rest of the family and crew. No joke - when I think of honesty - I think of the Gann's.

Great customer service! Not snooty like other jewelers.

My wife and I visited a few jewelry shops in downtown crossing for her engagement ring. We were extremely turned off by the snootiness of the various stores. We felt like as soon as they knew we were shooting to spend less than $3k on the ring, they suddenly stopped trying to help us. Decenza and EB Horn were two places like that. We were fortunate to come upon Joseph Gann Jewelers. One of the Gann brothers patiently spent an hour helping us find the right ring. We never felt pressured the whole time, unlike the other jewelry stores. We whole-heartedly recommend Joseph Gann.
