This tiny spot still wins honors as king of the feeder areas.

The Scene
The mission here is simple: Start skiers on their way to conquering the larger mountains due north. And while Blue Hills lacks a serious challenge (its 350-foot vertical drop is hardly a nose-bleeder), the area provides programs from the nationally acclaimed Ski Kids for young children, as well as ski camps for both children and adult beginners.

The Slopes
Weekends, Blue Hills can overflow with crowds, particularly at night. But head out on a Monday or Tuesday and you'll find reasonable lines and get a real run for your money. Even with the crowds, Friday night skiing at Blue Hills is a rite of passage for any Massachusetts child who's into the sport.
