Great fo0d and a lot of laughs
by DanG1000 at Citysearch
A group from our office wanted to have a night out with drinks, food for everyone and live entertainment, hopefully comedy.
We heard Kowloon has live comedy every weekend. With 15 people all hungry and well, in a holiday mood, we made reservations for dinner and went to see the act at the comedy club.
The food was great. I'm confused by some of the other comments. Having Sushi, Chinese and Thai all in one spot made for a fun experience. We all shared lots of new dishes we hadn't tried. I recommend the Seafood Supreme.
The comedy act was a riot. They had a hypnotist names Santos that was hysterical and very good. For a great time, with good food for everyone and a bill that won't break the bank, we say try Kowloon.
- Pros: Comedy club, lots of variety, great appetizers
limited vegetarian options
by livestoeat at Citysearch
Being a vegetarian, the main complaint that I had with this place was that given the large number of dishes that they have listed on the menu, very few are vegetarian. Of the items that we tried - chinese veg. soup, Hunan tofu entree and meatless chow mein - only the Hunan tofu had some taste. The other dishes were bland and tasteless. The Hunan tofu was very tasty. It would have been even better if it had less brocolli and more of the other veggies that they have listed in the description of the dish.
- Pros: huge place, nice ambience
- Cons: few vegetarian dishes
"NOT WORTH DRIVING TO"
by PatrickC07 at Citysearch
I went to this place because it was highly recommended by Phantom Gourmet. They promoted this as a place worth driving to. I went there with high expectations but sad to say I was Very Very DISSAPOINTED! The place smells bad, like unclean toilets and the food is not that good! Most of the foods that I ordered were very bland! It's not an authentic Chinese cuisine as they claim it to be. I am Chinese so I know if a Chinese food is authentic. I suggest that that if you want to eat authentic Chinese cuisine look for reviews that are made my Asians because they can tell the difference. Don't believe in reviews that are conducted by non-Asians like Phantom Gourmet! Overall I give this place 2-3/5. This place is not worth driving to! I wasted 50 miles to go to this place and believe me "It?s NOT WORTH DRIVING TO"!
- Pros: none
- Cons: see my review
Food is cold - Always...
by keeko77 at Citysearch
I used to love the Kowloon....My last 4 times there the food has been cold and the serivec has been terrible.
I think these restaurants need to get back to bascis and stop trying to be an entertainment stop for everyone.
Stick to the food!!!!
- Pros: Good atmosphere
- Cons: Cold food, loud and becoming a recreation hall.
One of the area's largest restaurants serves pan-Asian cuisine and caters to parties of all sizes, from one to 500.

In Short
A truly all-purpose dining destination, Kowloon houses several drinking and dining areas, including a function area for huge luau parties and a colorful bar area that attracts out-of-town celebs. The lengthy menu includes everything from standard Szechuan and Cantonese fare to Thai dishes and sushi. An offshoot of Quincy Market's popular Comedy Connection hosts national acts.
Best?

Best Chinese food? Give me a break. The only people who could possibly think the slop served here is good Chinese food are the same people who think the Lee Chow stuff you buy at the supermarket it great stuff too.
Seriously, I grew up in Saugus, the food at Kowloons used to be decent - as in average. Now I seriously doubt the sanity of anyone who could possibly eat there. The place is packed every night because 1) People go to the comedy club 2) People go to get drunk 3) It's a beacon for people with no taste who think a Pu-Pu platter is real Chinese food. If you want decent Chinese food on RT1 go to Out of Asia.
I recently suggest meeting a friend at the bar (kowloons is hard to miss on RT1). The place was so worn and decrepit I was ashamed for having suggested it. 9.0 ratinggeez.
- Pros: parking, memories of high school
- Cons: food, worn decor
Best Chinese Coast to Coast
by blundrigan at Citysearch
This is one of the busiest Chinese restaurants on the planet (check the Wall Street Journal) and rightly so. Everything they serve is superior. Hint: Try the Sweet and Sour Chicken or Pork. There's no other like it. If you're from the left coast, give this a try. You won't believe what you've been missing all your life. East coast Chinese is a different animal and this is the best.
- Pros: Great Food, great service
- Cons: Can be crowded
big disappointment

I had been looking forward to going to Kowloon for ages. After hearing the praises from Phantom Gourmet and the adverstisements of celebrities that went there, I went with my family on a Friday night.
Initially the host was helpful and drinks were good. But our waiter was literally walking away as we finished giving him our order. He didn't seem to have any time for questions or explanations of the huge menu.
The food is barely passable. This seems to be place for people looking for huge poritons of fried tasteless food. I had gone with the understanding that they have different kitchens to prepare different foods and I was looking forward to a variety of flavors. But it all tasted the same and needed lots of soy sauce.
Summary: we were grossed out by the portions, disappointed by the taste and put off by the service.
- Pros: promt seating, good drinks
- Cons: food has no taste, waiter was too busy
