Review of NORTH COURSE. This place is working off of old reputation and thats it! Greens were nice but the rest of the course was a cow pasture, they have totally let the rough go, hard pan just off the fairways, and the fairways are a mix of grass and weeds. HIGHLY disappointing for $82 on the weekend, they should be ashamed to charge that much for this course. It may have been a gem 10 yrs ago but as of right now, I would never go back. Pay the extra $20 for Red Tail or Shaker Hills, or save $20 and play Kettle Brook or High Fields.

I simply love this courses (I have played North and South). The environment is simply perfect to have a good time. I found the maintenance of the course very good.

Pros: maintenance, value, environment

Cons: nothing to report

Stow Acres has the beauty and playability of any modern golf course with the charm and maturity of the old new england golf courses that they are. The designs are fabulous and the staff is friendly and willing to help. The golf school has been teaching players for 19 seasons and many come back year after year. They add new programs every season to make the golfers experience better with every visit. Not to mention they have increased the tee time intervals to 10-minutes leaving ample time for players to move a a pleasant pace around the courses. Make sure you read the dates on the negative comments below. It does the reader a disservice to keep obsolete ratings posted for so long. Go to Stow Acres and judge for yourselves.

Pros: Value, Friendly staff, Beautiful setting

Beautiful spot, pretty good lay-out, some tough par fives. Greens very iffy for the price. Not enough workers to take care of the two 18 hole courses.

This was the first New England course I played. I was quite happy with its beauty and challenge. This course is cut directly in the forest and enver shot is a challenge of control. You will use your driver, but you need to know when to leave it in the bag. The short game is even more important here as a mistake will cost you three strokes.

Pros: Breathtaking views, challenging elevation, long greens

Cons: Few balls at range, Range not close

There are a few holes on this course that are interesting. However, the mediocre conditions and a number of holes that have nothing unique to them keep it from being a better than average public course. The slow pace doesn't help it either.

The North course is a great test of golfing skillls and not as hilly as the South

Without question the #1 public course in Massachusetts. From Tee to the green, always in great shape, challenging yet forgiving. Great Staff and facilities.. a must play ........... fun water holes, bunker placement, you definitely have to bring your "A" game...

Pros: Conditions, Layout, Amenities

Cons: None, None, None

If you haven't been to Stow Acres in the last 6 weeks, you can't appreciate the wonderful conditions that the courses have to offer. It's obvious the grounds crew and the new superintendant have brought this classic layout into top notch condition. Lots of new bunkers have been built and the original bunkers have been restored. The new green on 16 North is open and looking sharp! There are several new tee complexes on the North and South and they are even handmowing the greens daily. I look forward to playing there again soon!

Pros: Friendly Staff, New Superintendent, Super Golf Shop

Cons: Non-paved parking lot

With a gaudy 130 slope, a terrific place to test the hype about your new titanium driver.  See the full editorial review.
