I have never seen Nick smoking either. i think that other reviewer was "smokin'" something of his own! I have had issues with contact lens but that was the manufacturers problem not Bello's. They were MORE than accomodating to me in replacing them. I have also gotten eyeglasses from there that I love and get compliments on all the time! I have had adjustments for free many many times in the 10 years I have been going to Bello's. I would tell ANYONE to go see for themselves! The place is always busy and the phones always ringing so can all of us customers be wrong?? I don't think so! I love Dr. G too! He is compassionate and really knows his stuff!
Pros: quality, customer service, parking
Cons: prices went up but what the heck hasn't gone up! I live far away now but still make the trip!

My first visit to Bello Opticians was disappointing because Nick failed to follow my instructions. In truth, this particular instance was not such a big deal, so I decided to overlook it. A few years later, my wife and I both needed the services of an optician, so I decided to give Nick a second chance. It was a big mistake. My wife was told her first choice wasn't available in her prescription, and I was told the frames I wanted were no longer available. Nick made recommendations which we followed. Regrettably, my wife got stuck with ill-fitting glasses, which prompted me to do some investigating on behalf of my wife and myself. To make a long story short, my wifes prescription was available in the exact style of frame she wanted, and the exact frame I wanted was available in two colors. I canceled my order, but my wife had already received her glasses, so she was stuck with them. A customers best interest or desires are of no interest to Nick. It doesn't matter that you had a particular style in mind, or whether or not you actually look good in what you'll eventually purchase. Nicks goal is to sell you what ever he has in stock, and he'll say or do whatever it takes to convince you that he has your best interest in mind. Don't you believe it. You will be better served shopping elsewhere.
Pros: I can't think of any.
Cons: The odds are you'll be sorry you shopped here.

I love this store. I am on my 4th pair of glasses from Bello's. They are experts at making sure your glasses fit correctly. Never seen ANY smoke. Truely a great place.

I've been going to Bello opticians since I was in the third grade. The owner, Nick, was NOT walking around the place with a lit cigarette. You must have been dreaming, or somewhere else. Bello’s policy is to get you the best glasses they can and then to make sure they are fit perfectly to your nose, ears, and eyes. Before they moved from one spot on Shrewsbury street to another, they were very reasonably priced, but due to an upgrade in real estate, they are now competitive instead of the cheapest best glasses place around. The glasses are also much more trendy. If anything breaks on them, like if a pad comes off or a lens pops out, you bring them back and they fix it for you on the spot free of charge. I have bought three pairs of glasses from them. I have worn glasses for 16 years and I have never bought glasses from anyone else. I highly recommend Bello Opticians. My whole family gets glasses from Nick and his staff.
Pros: Great service, personal attention, commitment to customer satisfaction
Cons: prices went up to average from bellow average

Believe it or not, this place is a true thgrowback to the "Streets of San Francisco" era...or maybe even "Colombo". You wouldn't believe it if you didn't see it for yourselves. When you open the door you are smacked in the face with a cloud of good old fashioned cigarette smoke...just like in the old days! When I was there (briefly) there were three customers waiting for things and they all had small children and two had infants. Real honest to God cigarrette smoke. Then the owner walks by with a lit butt in his mouth!! OK maybe I'm a bit "new fashioned" but I left with the harsh stink of a 70's Italian first communion party. If you go, make sure you bring your eyedrops.
Pros: It's near some good food spots.
Cons: THE SMOKE!!!
