User Reviews for Finz Seafood & Grill

Read the review that Finz got recently in the Sunday globe. The review was excellent and so was our meal. It really is great to have such fresh seafood in the Dedham area. The staff is always so welcoming and gives the restaurant an extremely warm feel. If you haven’t been yet, you won’t be disappointed.

I searched high and low one friday to find a seafood restaurant. I passed up legal seafood since I had been there before. I like to try new places. Big Mistake. I read the reviews and decided to give this restaurant a shot. I ordered the stuffed lobster at a whooping $32. The stuffing was luke warm but I wanted seafood. As I continued to eat I noticed that the guts looked like they were still in the lobster and looked uncooked. I took the tail off and saw that the lobster was barely cooked. I felt nauseous and refused anything in it's place. If a restaurant advertises itself as a specialy in that area, they should at least know how to prepare their own dishes better than any other. I will definitely never return there again.

Pros: nice atmosphere, good service

Cons: food not prepared well

I disagree with the last review. It’s nice to be able to go to a restaurant that specializes in seafood and still have other menu options. I live in Newton (near Legal’s) and drive out of my way to eat at Finz. The menu is varied and it is also far cheaper than its seafood chain competitors. The wait staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and out of my three visits the food has never disappointed. Last time I was there with my wife, we sat by the fireplace in the lounge and had a wonderful time. It was great fun to watch the shucker at the raw bar prepare plate after plate of oysters. You can also step into their fish market on the way out and get your next days dinner.

bit of a disappointment. well located and nicely done interiior with great employees. It is just the seafood that is so ordinary. I expected it to be like Legal Sea Foodor Skipjacks or any of the oher fish restaurants. The lucheon menu didnt "make it". Mostly meat entrees and light on the fish!! Maybe they can redo the menu and take advantage of the nautical interior? We coud use a real seafood restauant out here so please change that darn menu...if I wanted a white pizza or bbq ribs why would I come here??

Pros: Neata clean building. Very nice waitstaff

Cons: Not enough seafood. Nothing like eompetitors like Legal Seafood

…I really was and I am a very tough person to please when dinning out. I had high expectations for the new Finz Seafood Restaurant in Dedham and they exceeded all of them. At the front door were two smiling hosts that were very accommodating. We decided to start with a cocktail in there comfy lounge next to the fireplace and there was complementary cheese and crackers too. I was very impressed with there signature cocktails list and the wine list was well-diverse. I loved the menu and found it hard to choose. We of course started with oysters from the raw bar. Then appetizers, main meal and desserts with delicious hot after dinner drinks. The service was very knowledgeable and attentive. It’s nice to have a non-chain restaurant in the area, especially seafood and will certainly be a regular.

Pros: Great food and service

First time at this restaurant. I was very impressed. The food was excellent. I love seafood and I'm sure this Finz will become one of my favorites. The menu was very extensive. Can't wait to try more items. The restaurant was very appealing and clean and the servers were very knowledgeable and polite. Loved the fancy drinks. Kathy G. Tiverton, RI

Pros: Nice change from usual chain restaurants

Cons: None

First time writing a review, I went to Finz on Saturday night with some friends. We were greated promptly by a very pretty hostest and seated shortly after that. There was a buzz of conversation all around, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselfs. As I looked around to see what others were eating our server Cannon greated us. He suggested we try the Martinis, I tried the Scarlet Orange(blood) Diamond and my friends tried the blueberry mojito needless to say we had many. The menu has so many wonderful items I could not decide. Again, Cannon came to the rescue and suggested their New Baked Cheese Appetizer with roasted garlic, kalamata olives served with garilc toast ( WoW ! great comfort food). The entree was the best of all again a New Item The Chefs Pumpkin Ravioli with a sage cream sauce and pan seared Scallops...to die for! Overall a great experience, young and knowledgeable server with personality. Will be back with more friends...Thank you Finz! P.S. Did you know they have Function Rooms and a Fish Market open daily.

Pros: Everything I look for in a great restaurant

Would have gone there tonight but already did last week and decided this. With all the now great places to dine out side of Boston propper why waste the cash. There is alot to be said for the "fly - by" server (and none of it good, thanx for the heads up on the 20 min. volcano cake) but alas not really the big problem here. If I am willing to come in on what is my night to dine out (Sunday) and am treated like a "Sunday ya, we don't really want you here anyway table" , then I am not ever spending or tipping my cash there again. I say they can have thier 1 tiny bun per person. A $22 lobster boiled w/ sides is a value only if you can eat the sides with it. Undercooked corn on the cob (by the way could you cut it in half) and over cooked soggy roasted red bliss . I am a pro at cracking my own lobster but you could of been kinder and started it for me. The place is cute and aquatic for Dedham. I Will try you again in Salem, where my sister lives and hope for better. Here is a tip: I will again order the lobster boiled and expect my sides done correctly other wise charge me less. Or wait mybe I'll just get even and order an expensive bottle of wine and send it back, now it is YOUR loss.

Pros: a great alt to Lseafoods

Cons: I don't want to just give U my $

saw the sign on 128 and took a chance. we were thrilled and had a great time. we live in boston and would go back in a flash. fabulous menu all around. standout appetizers (wasabi oysters on the half shell, buffalo calamari, whiskey-drenched lox), drinks (Finz sangria, Thaicaprainha), entrees (seafood stuffed trout, lobster ravioli), and desserts (key lime pie, upside-down apple pie). great presentations. knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Pros: easy access/parking, great decor, fun/relaxing experience

Cons: none
