great halloween party

by cartonhelmet at Citysearch

I won a price at the halloween costume party at the roxy but I was the only, 'Captain Morgan ' there. I searched all over Boston for this costume. No one had it. I couldn't believe it. I drove to Providence R.I. to get one at 'Bruna Costumes.' This was the only place that had it and the costume was awesome. Actually the price was not bad . This was the best halloween party ever. The sights were unbelievable.but I was the best.

  • Pros: Halloween party
  • Cons: no parking

Nice Venue, ok Music but not Latin at all!

by Mikesalsero at Citysearch

Friday, I guess is the best night to go to the Roxy if you're going. I was under the impression that this was a good spot to go for Latin Music but it is 100% hip hop and house and top 40. The DJ seems like a nice guy be needs to work on his mixing and the music selection is not always consistent. The venue is beautiful, the sound is good. I think they should would do better if they just focused on what they do best (top 40 and hip-hop).

  • Pros: Large, good sound, nice stage for bands
  • Cons: Price, drink value and quality, crowd

Great Venue, Good Service but bad crowd.

by salserosam at Citysearch

I've been to the Roxy on many different occasions and have generally found it to be upscale. The venue itself is great . . . actually beautiful really, however their Friday night Latin Night is barely Latin (mostly just hip-hop) and really not representative of the kind of people whom I thought frequent the Roxy. The one night I went there the crowd was rough and the night ended in a brawl. I recommend that the Roxy enforce a dress code like Vincente's (no jeans, button up shirts etc.) so that they can keep out this element!

  • Pros: Parking, venue, lights
  • Cons: rough crowd, fights, dress code too relaxed, drinks served in plasic only (because of fights)

Worst customer service EVER!!!

by Leq777 at Citysearch

I have gone here twice and both times I encounter really rude bartenders. One bartender completely ripped me off. She told me $8 then changed it to $10 so she could get a bigger tip. The staff is so arrogant and rude. I will never go here ever again. They need to learn better customer service!

  • Pros: Nice place
  • Cons: Bad service

Ladies Night Out - Chippendales

by rainbow9286 at Citysearch

The Roxy also has the Chippendales performing two Fridays a month at 8:00 pm before the club opens. We went for a friend's birthday and it was so much fun. There were girls there for bachelorette parties too. The stage show fit every woman's fantasy and then the hot guys come out into the audience during the skits. My favorite guy was a hot guy named Mark! The other guys Jeff, Garrett and Henry were super too! I highly recommend it for women of all ages even if you just want a girl's night out!

  • Pros: Hot Guys, Classy Show, Super Nice to Audience
  • Cons: none

They've Got Everything Right!

by sallyacross at Citysearch

I was new to the Roxy but willing to give it a try. My first surprise was the bartender. She actually knew how to mix drinks by the book and they tasted good! Then there is the room. It is spaciaous, not the cramped, n*ts to b*tts routine you get at many clubs. There were high tables with chairs, sofas, and stuffed chairs all along the walls and in alcoves. It is loud like all clubs but there are spots around the stairs that you can sit and talk at near normal levels. The dance floor is among the biggest in Boston and lined on the sides so it's hard to fall off. I wasn't crazy about the music mix but that changes from night to night and week to week at any club. The sound system and light show were pretty state of the art. We met alot of nice people and only a few goofs. Most just wanted to dance and have a good time. The vibe was dressy casual, alot more dresses and skirts than most clubs. The whole place was very accepting as we had a mixed group of girls and t-girls. We plan to head back in the next couple of weeks we had so much fun. Would reccomend it to anyone looking for some fun on a Friday night!

  • Pros: Good parking across the street, didn't have to fight for places to sit and rest our feet, awesome drinks and light show.
  • Cons: so so dance mix

Serious dancers and music fans convene at the city's most unique nightclub, the swank former home of a ballroom.

by Eric Grossman at Citysearch

The Scene
With room for roughly 1,400 concertgoers, the Roxy is one of the city's largest music venues. On weekends, when there's not a national touring act on stage, scenesters come from as far as New York to let loose to DJ-supplied house and dance tunes while dropping serious cash on cover charges ($15-$20) and drinks. Thursdays are usually college nights (the only time the city's large 18-plus set is allowed in), while Fridays and Saturdays see older fashionistas lining up down the street.

The Draw
This converted 1920s ballroom fuses red velvet drapes and marble staircases with a state-of-the-art sound system, hired dancers and a 3-D laser-light show. Those looking to take a break from the city's largest dance floor escape to the second-floor balcony and its comfy banquettes, many of which are reserved for VIPs. Drinks are expensive, but easy to get (bars and cocktail waitresses are everywhere).

Dance Dictatorship

by raccas at Citysearch

Friday night we went to the Roxy, we waited all night for the club to get busy, never happened.

Maybe thats what turned the manager into DANCE DICTATOR. My Fiancee and were kinda holding each other swaying to the music, when she appeared. She demanded we "GET ON THE F UCKING DANCE FLOOR AND DANCE, THEN MAYBE OTHER PEOPLE WILL FOLLOW" she proceeded to physically push us, and continue to bark commands using profanity. The more she pushed and yelled, the more we were determined to NOT MOVE. She finally moved on to abuse other couples. Desperate, thats the word that comes to mind. Maybe she wanted the club to look like it obviously was not "Busy". But it backfired, we left in amazment.

Bottom Line ... Dont Go to The Roxy!!!

good venue...

by tornadosteve at Citysearch

The roxy is what it is... It remains the biggest nightclub in boston cause of it size, i mean has it changed yes but what in boston stays the same.. The size can be a little mind blowing, but if u have a large group of friends in boston were else can u go and feel comfortable.. The music on friday's night is very cool hip-hop...!

  • Pros: big, nice muisc
  • Cons: having to fight a huge cover charge...

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER

by jennymae181 at Citysearch

The WORST customer service and management I have ever experienced in all of greater Boston, and I've lived here 10 years. This place used to be so cool, like 6 years ago... The Roxy is going downhill so fast, I hope it is bought over soon because it's such a waste of a pretty venue... I will never go back, they treat customers like dirt

  • Cons: customer service, management, attitude
