The food is outstanding here. Although there is a bit of a wait all the food is cooked to order and so good. The prices are reasonable and the staff has improved. I would highly recommend.

This down-home place had tasty food with huge portions. We had the mixed grill with steak tips, chicken tenders and a home-made sausage with the homemade fusilli on the side, plus the seafood trio. It was all delicious and piping hot. We waited awhile, but it wasn't frustrating. Highly recommend this place as a "cheap" eat.

This was my first trip to this restaurant and I can't wait to go back. There was so much food, starting with the amazing rolls. My meal came with a good sized salad and a giant sweet potato. The steak tips were cooked the way I asked, medium rare, and were yummy. But the best was the baked stuffed haddock. The stuffing was just so buttery. I couldn't stop eating it. The waitress was very attentive and even asked if we had a coupon, which I did and might have forgotten about. I'm looking forward to going back to try other dishes.

I live near by and requent this place often. I generally love it but the service has gone down hill. The dining room is terribly under staffed. Generally, I don't mind, because the food is worth the wait. Last night I came in the door at 7:45 and the waitress said the chef was done for the evening. What restuarant closes their kitchen at 7:45?
Pros: great food
Cons: service

Salem Woods relies on family for its service, so you need to be in the right mindset to visit there. If you're looking for a white-glove, black-truffle-laden experience, grab your wallet and head down to Exchange Street to waste your hard earned money on haute microcuisine. But if you work hard and want to eat hard, Salem Woods is your place. We live right next door and go often, and our service is never a problem as long as we go there looking to have good home-cooked meals served by people who could be our mothers or sisters. This is a homestyle restaurant, which is a dying art when swamped with buffalo chicken and drive thru's, and we try to support them as much as possible. Another reason we go there as often as we do is that we have developed a serious addiction to their Baked Haddock. Buttery, lemony and robust, the fish is flaky and light while the cracker crumb leaves you licking the volcanically-hot dish. ALL the pasta is good, and the steak tips (order them a step above where you want them - they tend to come out undercooked) are marinated perfectly. Everything is homemade, and even the simplest food like chocolate pudding leads to a moaning, eye-closing experience. Salem Woods gives you what you pay for - and then some! Their portions let us eat for days. I couldn't reccomend it more. Tell Michele and Kelly the locals sent you!
Pros: Everything is delicious. I swear.
Cons: Parking, long waits at rush times, at times ambivalent service.

Went on a nice evening, was a bit crowded but we sat at the bar where a "Hottie" bartender named Debbie served us quickly and with a pretty smile....the bartender was the capper on a great dinner. We wanted to ask her if she'd be our waitress too, but I guess that would be a little much to ask. Honestly the most beautiful "40-something" we've ever had the pleasure to meet. Food is plentiful and good, excellent Chicken Parm, seafood fantastic....and the price is right. Definitely worth the trip, especially when Debbie is on duty!!!!!

Service was horrendous!!!! She could not have been much ruder or snapped with any more sarcasm. Waitress would not take our order until she had taken another order 1st (all food cooked to order is great) 1/2 hour wait to put in your order when there are only 5 tables in the place is ridiculous since 1/2 the tables were already eating!!!!!! Everything was a project. food was ok for the price....there was alot, but the quality was very average! Too many other much better restaurants with waitstaff that at least acts like they give a !$@#)
Pros: lots of average food
Cons: service just about the worst, including even macdonalds service!!!!!!

My wife and I have visited Salem Wood several times since my last reveiw and I am very happy to report that they have gotten their act together and the service is markedly improved. The food is still fantastic and well worth the trip. We live in Woburn and manage to get there at least every other month. Try it you will not be sorry. Don't forget to print the coupon that is on this listing. I always forget, but it is still a value and good dining experience without the discount coupon.
Pros: Excellent food and value
Cons: Can't think of one

I found this place on City Search one weekday night when my guy and I were looking for some good food at a low-key place for reasonable prices. I am SO glad i found it! The appetizers were typical american bar food (wings, mozzarella sticks, etc.) but the entrees are so yummy! This is a family-owned place and everything is cooked to order - which i love! My guy had the surf & turf - perfectly marinated grilled tips were delicious (and reheated well the next day). And I had the lobster ravioli - no skimping on lobster, cream sauce was phenomenal, and plenty of medium sized shrimp on top! Portions are good sized - enough to take home for lunch the next day. Drinks were good and strong too. The waitstaff is very friendly and efficient. We can't wait to go back! This is a great little local place... My only regret is that our printer wasn't working so I couldn't print the 25% off coupon! They do need that to give you the discount - but it's not like the bill was outrageous anyway....
Pros: Food is top-notch, very casual
Cons: dining room is only 6 booths and 4 tables so could be an issue on a weekend night, MUST bring printed coupn for discount
