User Reviews for Namaste Massage

I have known Jess & Namaste Massage for a couple years now and I am glad to follow them to the new location in Lexington. At first I thought, how can an equally or more beautiful space be created after I experienced the calm and protection of the Arlington rooms ... but Jess has outdone herself. The space is open, and beautiful (truly soothing colors and design choices) and I feel completely at home. My next challenge was to try someone new ... Jess feels like the best to me, how could I try someone else? Jess' appointments fill up quickly and my available time is often last-minute. Jess recommended I try her new therapist, Juliana. I trust Jess, so I trust the suggestion. The results? Juliana was SUPERB. She was kind, thorough, much stronger than her small frame suggests -- and she not only respected my limits, if I told her pressure felt like too much, but she encouraged me to breathe through discomfort for my benefit (which I truly wanted for relief of knotted muscle). Juliana was also respectful of quiet, talking when I talked, allowing peace when I didn't. Finally, I could clearly tell that Jess had trained Juliana, in similar techniques, style and attention. Jess trained her well! I highly recommend Namaste Massage (Jess & Juliana interchangably) to anyone who wants a professional, caring, meaningful massage.

Pros: Massage skill; parking

Cons: None!

I have had many massages in my time, and few compare to my experience with Juliana at Namaste Massage. She had an obvious intuition about how to best treat my aches and pains. She managed to find even the smallest aching muscles and smooth them to satisfaction. If you are looking for a serious therapeutic massage, Namaste Massage is the best kept secret in Lexington!

Pros: Atmosphere, music, convenient parking

I had a pretty bad massage from the new person. Went through a kind of formal process of asking me my preferences, then just ignored them when doing the massage. [Also, as they offer the coupon through citysearch and talked about it a lot--something gave me the sense all these positive reviews aren't legit. Going back, all the reviews that I checked were from people whose review of this place, is there only one. Fishy...)

Pros: Easy parking

Cons: Bad massage

All good things come to an end. I went based on a positive recommendations here and had a very different experience. In short, it turned out it was for 2 reasons: my massage was with an (undertrained) new assistant, and I was looking for more of a therapeutic massage. My masseuse had a set routine she couldn't vary from--I had to be face down and she would only touch areas she had been trained on. Unfortunately, this didn't include muscles I knew were tight and causing me trouble (psoas in front of hip). Also, a back problem makes it hard for me to lay face down for too long a period, and the masseuse couldn't adapt at all (e.g., by doing things with my on my side or back). To add a little insult to injury, manner of masseuse was "off"--highly defensive and a little too high-strung to be someone you can relax with. On the positive side, nice music, tastefully decorated office, and for the 15 minutess I staid, I could tell the masseuse did have "good hands" if you were just looking for a full body, relaxing massage and didn't have special needs. Still, unprofessional to want to charge full-rates with someone who was at the level of a trainee at a massage school.."

Pros: Nice atmosphere

Cons: Undertrained staff

A very comfortable, clean, peaceful environment. Very positive energy. I appreciate check-in and consult prior to massage. The objectives I express are alway addressed (and exceeded) whether they are to relieve stress and relax, or to address specific back or muscle pain. Jess has a way of finding spots that I don't realize were tense or strained. I massage techniques are gentle and fluid. I leave feeling very relaxed and peaceful...and the benefit does seem to last longer than other massages I've experienced. I have been 100% satisfied with my experience at Namaste Massage, and recommend it to anyone seeking to relax and/or to maintain good health.

Pros: Qualified and kind practitioner, excellent massage techniques, Great ambience

I run a very stressful business and travel considerably. Jess helps me cope with it all. I can feel myself already start to relax as I travel to my appointment. I am not sure how she does it, but Jess seems to have an uncanny ability to identify the areas in my back and shoulders that are most in need of attention. Though she is a delight to talk to, we quickly silence ourselves as she works her magic. As the massage begins, I find she quickly hones in on the areas of greatest need and very soon I descend into the mental abyss I've learned to enjoy with her. I drift in and out of that magical zone that is somewhere between deep sleep and partial consciousness as my body repairs itself from the past week of abuse. And all too soon, I realize my time with Jess draws to a close, as she finishes our 90 minute session. What a shame, as our schedules inhibit our ability to get together in less than a month. Such is the life of a popular massage therapist!

Pros: very convenient and easy to find

I had been searching for a great massage therapist in Cambridge / Arlington / Lexington / Somerville for about two years. A friend recommended Jess and Namaste and I felt like I'd found the source of the Nile. Honestly, Jess is the best massage therapist I've found in all my travels. She is strong and very experienced, and she has a sixth sense about what I need each time I see her. Her space is calming and each beautiful object seems to be in exactly its right place. Her massage table is incredibly comfortable - seems larger and more comfortable than others. No matter how stressed or tired I am when I walk in, I'm totally mellow and energized when I walk out. Jess has great, powerful hands and a deep understanding of who needs what. She's that good. Plan ahead - she is booked out, but Jess is WELL worth the wait. I now book 2 or 3 appts at a time to make sure I can see her at least monthly.

Pros: Great massage EVERY time; easy parking; hot stone massage to die for

Jess is a massage therapist you need to book well in advance, unless you're lucky enough to call on a day when she's had a cancellation. It took me awhile to get an appointment with her, but when I finally got in, it was well worth the wait! Now I understand why she's in such high demand. This was truly the best massage I've ever had and I've had many over the past 20 years. When Jess is working it feels as though she has six hands. Her work is fluid and very deep. It's therapeutic and at times intense, but when she's finished it feels like you've just had 8 hours of deep rest. This was a healing experience for me. I left feeling a little more possibility in my life and more able to face my day. It's so hard to find a really good massage therapist who actually does the deep work they say they do. Jess does and I was delighted.

Pros: Deep Massage, highly skilled, very warm and friendly, lovely location, feels like home, easy street parking

Cons: none

I went to Jess awhile ago and have no words to explain my treatment---but for the sake of the review, I'll try :) She spent a good amount of time getting to know my health history, my body, and my needs/wants. Then came the best part....she used very capable and delicate hands to palpate and seek out the areas in my body that needed her the most. She used a very simple and professional 'check-in' technique: she assigned numeric value to her pressure and told me not to be over a certain number. In this way, I was able to tailor the massage to my exact needs, without feeling interupted or uncomfortable. On a side note, her office is AMAZING!!!!! As a student of massage therapy, I am definitely hoping to model my work after her! Ok, so go see her! It will be WELL worth the time, money, and little effort!

Pros: great massage, great practice!

I found Namaste Massage through Citysearch and decided to take the chance. Lots of Massage Therapists say they do Deep Tissue, but few deliver. This Therapist was exceptional. She used very deep pressure, found and worked on all my sore spots and maintained a sense of flow throughout. I went home feeling completely transformed. Thanks Namaste. I'll definitely be back!

Pros: skilled , thorough, professional

Cons: none
