Warning-STAY AWAY

by fantom taster at Citysearch

We made a reservation for three and were stuck at a two-top table in the corner where we could not even reach our food on the table due to the crush of our legs in the way. When we complained, we were told we could eat elsewhere. When we asked for simple bread, we received garlic- covered stale toast and were charged for it! Part of our food order was completely forgotten. The food, overall, was mediocre at best and overpriced. Overall, a terrible experience...stay away!

  • Pros: Convenient to the Garden
  • Cons: Horrendous service and mediocre food

Great for gluten-free!

by Mildrede at Citysearch

My family went here twice in 4 days! Have a full gluten-free menu including pizza, pastas, entrees and desserts. The gluten-free pizza crust tastes great and has a great texture. The entrees (try the breaded chicken!) are good and can be made gluten-free as well. The desserts (the lemon torte had a sweet yet tart taste with a rich and flaky gluten-free shell) are delicious. Normal menu is excellent as well!

  • Pros: gluten-free friendly

Why?

by jarog at Citysearch

This was the worst dining experience I've had in Boston. I simply cannot understand how this place gets so many good reviews. The pizza was bland and overpriced; our waiter indifferent at best. When we asked for bread (because of the loooong wait) we were given stale bread and CHARGED for it. Atmosphere is nothing special. A very negative experience.

  • Pros: nothing
  • Cons: food, service, prices... you name it

Amazing Italian Dinner with Top Service and...GLUTEN FREE!

by JBCMarble at Citysearch

My wife and I spent an evening in Boston to celebrate her Birthday! We had been craving Italian in the North End, but since my wife was diagnosed with a wheat gluten intolerance/allergy (Celiac Disease) in the past year...the North End seemed like an impossibility until I read about NEBO.

We were astonished by the menu...a complete-full menu for gluten free dining in addition to the regular menu.

In order to share dishes we both ordered from the gluten free menu. We started with a to-die-for eggplant appetizer with mozzarella and tomato sauce...yum!

We then had the Pasta (yes gluten free pasta) with pancetta and onion...awesome...you would never guess you were eating gluten free!

We also split a fig and prociutto gluten free pizza...OUR FAVORITE PIZZA PERIOD! Yum! In a million years you will not believe it is gluten free.

We were so impressed with our server and Carla, one of the owner's was so caring and came over to chat with us several times about the menu and the restaurant. Her enthusiasm and the efforts of her team have truly paid off!

We couldn't reccommend a restaurant more highly...try it...you'll love it.

We will be back and bring our friends and family! Thank you again Carla!

  • Pros: Diverse Menu, Cool Atmosphere, Delicious Food
  • Cons: NONE!

Great food, great atmosphere and great hosts

by 3kingsinburke at Citysearch

We are visiting from Washington, DC and wanted to experience the North End. We found Nebo in one of the books and made our reservations. Carla and Christine, the owners came by our table to check on us throughout the meal. When Christine found out we were from out of town, she sent Carla over to help us plan the rest of the evening as well as our next day in Boston. And to top it off, the Sox won 3-1! We had a wonderful experience and can't wait to get back to Boston.

  • Pros: Food, Service, Hospitality
  • Cons: There weren't any!

Great people... Great food

by Foodlover13 at Citysearch

My wife I have been going in to Nebo regularly for about 2-and -a-half years now, and have grown to feel as at home at the bar or at a table as we do in our very own living room. The owners Carla and Christina have remembered us by name from the second time we dined at Nebo and are never too busy to talk with us about just everyday life, nor is the bartender Brian... great guy to talk to.

Oh, and the food... ha. The homemade pasta is apparently still made with a knife and broomstick, and the proof is in the taste. I recommend the Ricotta Gnocchi. The pizza's as well as most of the other delicious menu items are also made with homemade ingredients and taste just as one would expect homemade italian food to taste. Also, the draft beer at Nebo, for some reason, is excellent.

Nebo is a great place for a date or any time you want to eat great food in a laid-back but beautiful environment.

  • Pros: Homemade Pasta, Great Draft Beer, Excellent Pizza

Absolutely Floored- for both Celiac's and the Rest...

by jeremyeiser at Citysearch

Excellent atmosphere, beautiful decor, and lovely staff. Incredibly hospitable to my gluten free needs. The menu for those of us who suffer from Celiac's is incredibly extensive, not the typical "list" of four or five substandard creations a restauarnt has to offer from us. You can expect the unexpected here, not only for people without food allergies, but for the people with Celiac's as well; I had a delicious, gourmet pizza that was created upon the most genuine tasting bread I've had since diagnosed. Congenial and appreciative, the head chef extends her welcome to all and is open to all the comments and suggestions you could offer - although we had very few! We were happily surprised by the treat she had prepared for us - a gluten free sicilian slice, which tasted as though it had been cooked on french bread.... delish! I give it a 5 out of 5, and my son who dined with me [and does not have Celiac's] reccomends the homemade pasta with scallops as well. A definite must if you have gluten allergies when in Boston!!!!

  • Pros: Bread... that tastes real? Note- this is not a paid advert
  • Cons: None to write

Delicious food, great Gluten Free Menu

by maz16 at Citysearch

My family and I just had a wonderful evening at Nebo's. Food was excellent and we could not believe they had a scruptious gluten free menu. Is it a "must" for any celiac. You won't be disappointed and neither will anyone dining with you. Carla (the owner) and her sister are delightful hosts as well.

Gluen free

by CSMobileUser at Citysearch

I was diagnosed with celiac disease 2 years ago and have since dreaded going out to eat with friends.went to Nebo last night and had so many gluten free choices that I didn't know what to order first. All the food I ordered tasted so good I wanted to cry. Had fried calamari, shrimp scampi with polenta and a pizza. It was so hood that my friends ate off my plate. Can't wait to to back .
