waste of money--you are paying for attitude

by yoursverytruly

the place caters to an upper scale or wanna be clientele and you feel it as soon as you go in. instead of relaxing you feel that if you are not wearing the right attire you will be treated differently and to a place where you go to relax that is a total minus to say the least.

it was a rainy day when i got there, i was soaked from head to toe. as soon as i walked in they directed me to the basement where i was going to get a facial. the front desk person looked at me like i did not belong there at all and instead of going with me to show me where to change, she told me she was busy with a client (who was paying) and that i should go to the lockers by myself and that she will meet me there. i got into the changing area and i was confused about what to do, what to change into and where to go to meet the facial person. I was also very upset, here i am a new customer and the least they can do is tell me to wait one second to show me around instead of looking at me with disdain and showing me the way to the lockers. im sorry i did not look dry or dressed up like the other guests but i was soaked, tired and carrying a bunch of things and really looking forward to a nice relaxing experience and not have to deal with straight out attitude. the customers who were there were also not friendly at all and looked at you as if they were way above you.

aside from all this i got a facial which was OK but worth 1/2 the price of what I paid ($135).

EXHALE is NOT worth it at all, customer service should be key for places like this and definitely this is not the place to go to relax or to make your money's worth. i would recommend going to the sports club LA best facials in boston without the attitude believe it or not!

Clean, relaxing and friendly.

by alimac007

Had a couples massage recently. I really enjoyed the Swedish massage. The deep tissue massage was less relaxing. Not enough deep rubbing and too much deep prodding. I guess different people like different things... Great location near my hotel in the Back Bay and the place was really clean. One feels very relaxed as soon as you step into the spa. Overall, we really enjoyed the experience.

  • Pros: Very Clean, Relaxing Atmosphere
  • Cons: a little pricey, but not exorbitant

Great services, if you can afford it!

by sunkist33

I went in to exhale on a sunday and had a massage (with sharon) and a spa pedicure. They were both awesome services. The pedicure was the best I have ever had. The only downside is that it was pretty expensive ($75 for spa pedi) and i can not afford to pay those prices on a regular basis.

  • Pros: friendly staff
  • Cons: expensive, parking

Go elsewhere

by takaineko

While the facilities are attractive and particular estheticians and maincurists are do a fine job, the quaility of services provided is variable, starting at unacceptably poor. Those at the desk, including the management, are more interested in talking to one another than addressing the needs of their guests. Overall, particularly given the prices they charge, a waste of money

Gorgeous if you're into that whole Zen thing!

by heather_f_123

This place has great service. They are very friendly. The yoga studio is incredible and they have clothes available if you need/want to purchase to take a class. Great locker room. Nice but cold treatment rooms. I had a really nice massage. Very costly.

  • Pros: Locker room and ambience
  • Cons: Too expensive for Boston (or anywhere)

Excellent

by cmons

I had an excellent experience and highly recommend the services here, but would agree with the other reviewers that the space is a bit small. If you go on a weekend it can be quite busy and chaotic, and the girls at the desk don't really bother to point you in the right direction.

I just popped in for a Sunday morning yoga class and was pleasantly suprised. I am a massage therapist and have been in all aspects of the spa industry for years and usually like to give my money to the little guy vs chains. I took this class with a friend on a reccomendation and really enjoyed it. It was a little bit of a cluster!#$% getting in the door and registering for class but other than that the set up is beautiful. I am sure that there is a little tour that the front desk girls were too busy to give us so we did stumble around a little getting acclimated. Once we figured out where we needed to be it was a true pleasure. The layout is wonderful and feels very intimate for such a huge space. The locker rooms were super clean and well stocked with all the extras. Most importantly our yoga class was EXCELLENT. It was a warm, very packed room and I was rolling my eyes before class even started. David was our teacher and led a wonderful class with just the right element of challenge for the mixed group. His demeanor and ovbious extensive knowledge was a good complement to is California calm. Two thumbs up. My only critism would be of the girls up front (personal conversations while people waited etc) but everybody has an off day and that may just be because I wasn't a familiar face. I will definatly be back.

A REJUVENATING EXPERIENCE

by iluvpilates

I booked an appointment at Exhale for a fusion manicure and pedicure, as well I attended a yoga class. What a refreshing and rejuvenating experience. Kara is a terrific instructor. The class was so soothing and relaxing yet I left the spa extremely energized. The spa is very nice. The lounge is very inviting and warm. It was a very tranquil and wonderful day for me. My mind and body felt so renewed and at peace. I left Exhale truly relaxed and pampered...feeling like a million bucks. Great spa experience. I will definitely come back for another yoga class.
