I just recently had dinner on a saturday night with some friends from Manhattan. They wanted to have some sushi so we headed to 711 Boylston the food was great it was a very cool mixture of asian cuisine, I had the Big Papi Maki which was amazing by far one of the most creative rolls I have had in the city. After we enjoyed dinner and drinks we noticed that this place actually transforms into a nightclub with great lighting, dj's, and a great blend of beautiful people. We all had a blast definently would reccomend 711 boylston to those in search of a fully satisfying take on "dinner and drinks".

Pros: Amazing Food, Drinks, Ambiance and staff

Cons: If only Boston stayed open later!

I really don't understand this spate of bad reviews about 711. It's honestly one of my favorite places in Boston! Both the restaurant and club scenes are absolutely fantastic. Hands down, 711 has the best pad thai and sushi anywhere in the city--be sure to try the koliokawa roll and dynamite maki when you come. The service is always excellent, too, and the prices are really reasonable. The club scene rocks. The place has absolutely no pretensions--the security, cockail, and bar staff treat everybody super-friendly. Unlike other places, they never make people wait outside when it's only half-full inside. The drinks are strong and amazing--all beers are only $5, and basic cocktails are $8 (which, compared to other places around the city, is really fair). And... they have sushi til 1am. What more could you want from a night spot? The racism of the previous poster aside, the place has an awesome mix of different people--everyone can feel comfortable here during the club scene, and how many places can you say that about in Boston? Come for dinner, stay for dancing!

Pros: Service, crowd, posh surroundings, awesome sushi

Cons: Can get a little crowded some Fri. and Sat. club nights

There is no ventilation, the place is a sweat box. It took me 45 minutes to get a drink and the place was not even packed. I made the mistake of not ordering Grey Goose, and they poured some disgusting vodka into my cranberry that made me nauseous. I ran to the bathroom and had to spit-up in the sink because there was only 1 stall which was occupied. People were sweating just standing in line at the bar. The sound system was poor quality, it didn't sound loud, but I still had to raise my voice to talk to my friend.

Wow! This place was awful! We went there for supper at 4 pm on a Sunday. The food and drinks were the worst we have had in Boston. The bartender was very nice, but was checking the menu for the ingredients in the drinks. Not too encouraging. The food was disgusting, the teriyaki steak was fatty and of poor quality; the chicken tasted old and reheated. Please skip this place and go to Douzo, two blocks up. You won't be disappointed there. Thankfully, they refunded one of the entrees.

Pros: Location,ambience

Cons: food, drinks

I ate here on Tuesday a couple of weeks ago on a whim and a dining certificate. Ambience - I had been there before when it was part of the Jae's chain and a club. The place was tastfully redecorated with a huge glass fish tank on one side of the restaurant. Pretty low key venue for a Tuesday night so we were seated promptly. FYI-Tuesday night they have beginner salsa lessons and salsa dancing starting around 10 pm. Service - Our waiter was very attentive and delightful. He came by our table enough times to be cognizant of our needs but not to be too overbearing. Food - There was a decent selection of sushi. I had one of the special salmon maki and it was artisticallly prepared and delicious. I also sampled the Chilean sea bass and the kalbi. The sea bass was great but slightly oily. The Kalbi tasted more like terriyaki than traiditional kalbi. Both dishes came with simply prepared steamed vegetables that were flavored heavily with butter. All in all the place is great for a low key evening, the food is overall tasty but maybe something you could whip up at home and the staff is pleasantly at your service.

This place is terrible except for the Korean sushi chef. The wait staff was slow, depressed, and uh slow. Our waitress was too busy serving her boyfriend to get us our drinks, and even simple things like soysauce. I had to get them myself. The sushi was ok, little overpriced, but this seems to be the norm in Boston. Never go again.

Pros: OK sushi

Cons: Terrible wait staff. service is terrible

My boyfriend and I live in the Back Bay and are regulars at pretty much every restaurant in the area! We're both in the industry and love to eat out. Recently we've been getting sick of the same old places and decided to try out 711. The hostess was adorable and sweet and ushered us to a table right away...but only because the restaurant was empty! It was Friday night around 8:00 and less than a quarter of the tables were filled. This tells you something right away. Our server was friendly, but it took over ten minutes for our drinks to arrive. Not his fault. When I glanced over at the bar, I noticed there were TWO bartenders and only two guests sitting with them. The blond bitchy looking one making our drinks put in one ingredient at a time and then paused to flirt with the obliterated man sitting at the bar. Eventually our drinks arrived and they were disgusting. My boyfriend's tasted like grape cough medicine, and my red sangria was the WORST I've ever had. I had to force myself to drink it..I didn't want to waste the $11 I spent. The food took close to a half an hour, which I can forgive, but the restaurant wasn't busy and the food was average at best. As the ten o'clock hour approached, a manager and DJ began to linger around. Soon, the music was blaring as the staff quickly tried to transform the Asian fusion restaurant into a night club. My boyfriend and I finished our food quickly and then left because we couldn't hear each other. We have been to this place 3 times now for drinks, and the same bartender is always there. Her drinks are bad and she's too slow. The food, service, and atmosphere are not good enough to make up for that. The owners should get there act together..They need good drinks and a fast paced bar scene if they want to turn the place into a club. We won't be back.

Pros: air conditioning

Cons: the drinks, service, and depressing ambience...no windows!

I totally recommend the 711 Bistro. Had trouble finding it when I went--they don't have a sign up yet--but I'm glad I finally found it! We had a terrific waiter, and the sushi was outstanding. The dining room is really unique--beautiful fish tanks right in the middle and cool multi-colored lighting. Just a unique, great experience--I can't wait to go back!

Pros: Atmosphere, sushi

Cons: Bit pricey, parking tough (but they have valet)

This place just changed its name, but everything is the same. I heard from friends saying "there's an underground sushi place on Boylston street"... sounded cool so we went. Once we arrived, the old Jae's is still there, although they took out the sign, but everything else is just the same. The rude waitstaff is still there with few new faces with more attitudes, the interior decor is just like before. And the sushi is nothing but the old Jae's sushi. It is somewhat acceptable, but the price tag is very high for this sushi quality. Go elsewhere for sushi. At least we've learned our lession.
