I brought clients to Tomasso and asked Lorenzo, the manager, to recommend wines for each course. The experience was wonderful! He introduced three wines, one to complement each dish, making the meal an experience worth remembering. The heritage pork is dark, rich, and so much better than "the other white meat!" I definitely plan to return.
Pros: Easy to get to and plenty of parking.
Cons: Too far from Boston to just stop by.

Whenever I get to Boston this is the restaurant I most want to eat at. They have the best northern Italian food outside of Italy and some of the best wines too plus they have a great selection. The service is excellent. I wish I could get to Boston more often!
Pros: great food, great wine, good selection of both
Cons: Often busy and sometimes crowded

I have to wonder what is behind some of the reviews people write on these sites. I have been to this restaurant many times and it has always been very good. I particularly like being able to try several dishes without having to finish. Someone else at the table will do that for you. Choosing the wine has always been a problem for me and the Tomasso recommendations are spot on delicious. The presentation is always first class. Did I mention that it is really nice to be able to go to a popular restaurant and find a good parking space? All around nice experiences at this place.

Ate at Tomasso over the holidays, recommended by a friend. What a treat - freshly made bread, organic produce, grass-fed local beef, hand-crafted pasta. I was told by my friendly server that the pasta is made daily and the menu changes seasonally. The flavors were wonderful and the prices reasonable. Be sure and save room for dessert. The pastry chef is a real artist. If you enjoy quality food, you will enjoy Tomasso. I frequently eat out and I'm Italian. My meal at Tomasso was one of the best I've had in a restaurant.

I have been to Tomasso Trattoria once, and only once. Though it was a plus to be seated an hour early, not much else was good. I couldn't get a reservation for the time I wanted to be there, but I checked in at that time and there weren't many customers there, so we got sat an hour early (why even reserve a time?). It filled up a bit more, but not overfull, and they sponsored a wine tasting in their market next door! Then I found out why. The waiter was slow, uninformed and a little arrogant, not to mention sloppily dressed. The wines by the glass were few and the price of bottles was borderline obscene. The food was fine, but way too high-priced and small-portioned for plain Italian food, especially with so many competitors in the area. The ambiance was not quite right either. It appeared, at first, to be romantic. But then we were sat at a small table cramped between other small tables with a view of the grill area. My wife and I were eager to leave, as it felt as though we were being swindled out of our money.
Pros: location
Cons: PRICE and service

I have been to Tomasso on multiple occasions and have always left feeling offended by the patronizing restaurant staff. You get the feeling that they are trying too hard to have an "upscale" restaurant and they are doing you a favor to serve you. On top of this, the food is quite average tasting and definitely not worth the premium they charge. Not recommended.
Pros: Average tasting italian food
Cons: Patronizing servers

The entrees and desert were wonderful!! However... The waitstaff was not impressive. The list of wines by the glass (and who is going to be drinking a bottle of wine at lunch) is lacking. They only seem to have coca cola products = what is the problem with keeping some Pepsi on hand for customers?? The dining room has a lovely decor, but we nearly didn't get to see it as it was nearly empty and and yet they wanted to seat us in the bar. I don't think I would return. For the price there are nicer places elsewhere that have warm, friendly and efficient wait staff and hosts.
Pros: food, though limited choices
Cons: limited choices, inefficient waiter
